- Sixty years ago, Patrice Emery #Lumumba, the first Congolese prime minister, was assassinated. His killing by Congolese and Belgian officers sparked global outrage, instantly turning Lumumba into a national hero and a symbol of the dashed hopes of post-independence Africa. The exact circumstances of his death have remained unclear to this day. Belgium has admitted its "moral responsibility" in the killing, but stopped short of naming those responsible. Lumumba's family and a handful of investigators continue to fight for the truth. #DRC

I highly respect Mr. Patrice Lumumba. He is the same as Nelson Mandela for me. I hope more leader like these two great heroes come up in Africa that can bring the continent as the same level playing field with the rest of the world enjoying prosperity and joy in life.

Congo is the heart of Africa and the west know that. Afrca will never realize it's full economic potential without this vast country. They have always made this country ungovernable so that the resources are plundered . They should bring back development resources and not a tooth. At least they should finance one rail or road to accompany the tooth , otherwise they can keep it till they are ready.
East Africa is the heart but the West is the face. Majority of the West countries gave up part of themselves after being colonized where as the East countries still have their original languages and tribes. No French or Portuguese is spoken or non of that.
Assassination? They erased him completely, all but a single tooth was left. However, his bloodline still lives within his daughter, his spirit within the spiritual realm of Congo; and his legacy all over the world.

Etienne Davignon should be in prison, and the family of Lumumba should get justice and financial reperations from Belgium(becouse USA was not fast enough to kill him). Kongo, which was devastated by it, should be helped now by USA and Belgium, not further exploited as it is happening now - cobalt mining for example.
