Well, one singer with perfect pitch to be able to repeat the tune correctly, and one musician with a good head for music theory who was able to identify the scale the harp was using based on 2 notes.

Also just to see the full playthru of a game I didn't have the patience to finish myself in days when online walkthrus weren't a thing.
Dan Playing Sierra games is pretty much the only game grumps I watch these days.
Not knocking the other videos, these are just the ones I'm willing to make the time for.
It takes me weeks to finish watching an episode of these because I use them to fall asleep, but I’m also interested in the game and Dan’s commentary (as well as Brian’s this time) so I always have to restart/rewind it
Sure, for me anyway, I was drawn in by the fact when Danny started these I was curious reliving a series from when I was a kid and how a solo grumps might be but I've loved every second of this series.
Sure, the asmr aspect isn't there like it was but even with Brian, these are still a relaxed vibe, still meme heavy but enjoyable as hell.

I actually really appreciate that they had it end with them beginning to court or date, not jumping right to marriage like a lot of fairy tales.

No, I don't think you can and that's not a Sierra staple - normally you can turn up the game speed or walking animation, but not in this - it was probably around this time that double clicks became a thing in Lucas arts games like The Dig, and it soon became a standard adventure feature, but not really in Sierra.

Brian catches on to the gimmick at 22:20. Still, that is incredibly subtle; I don't think I would've ever caught on on my own.

Being a wee lad of 26 myself, I never played any Sierra games, or many point and click adventure games for that matter, but I do love these playthrough's, and reminiscing about old favorites of yours.
Brian is always a treasure to have on Grumps, and Dan's playing is definitely more my style of gameplay; just cool, calm, collected. Seeing everything out at a normal pace. Fucking up half the time but getting it done damn it... You know, a chill experience.
Thanks for this guys, such a wonderful experience, and thanks to who ever decided to release it as 2 vid's and not 6! Perfect for marathoning it like a movie, and also doesn't take away from regular grumps for a week or more. I know it puts a damper on scheduling and takes a toll with work, but I really love the longer videos. Maybe in the future streams could come back as like a weekend thing? They could even take the place of the video drop for the day, so you don't 'lose' a video slot (or the equivalent time of work needed.)

I’m 27 and have suuuch strong memories of this game! I think I had older siblings playing it though, and it was an outdated ripped copy in like 2002

When I played this as a kid, my computer was too fast for the dynamite portion in oogie boogie land so I was never able to finish the game. Glad to finally see what happens!!!!!!
This game will never escape my heart. First ever memorable game I played in my life. Sierra really knew how to make compelling games back in the day.

There is quite a bit of Greek Mythology in King's Quest.
In King's Quest 7:
Ambrosia is food oft the gods and in greek mythology eating it gives you immortality.
The three fates are from Greek mythology, the characters in this game even have the three fates actual names.
Attis (the stag) is based on a greek mythology, he was the consort of Cybeles (the Goddess of Nature).
Ceres, the wife of Attis is Cybeles from Greek mythology.

Graham turns a snake into Pegasus
In King's Quest 3:
Graham seeks an audience with King Neptune in his undersea kingdom.
In King's Quest 3:
Medusa terrorized Gwydion in the desert until he turned her to stone.
Alexander seeks the Oracles help (In Greek mythology people all around the world used to visit Delphi to ask the Oracle for future-telling)
In King's Quest 4:
Rosella meets Cupid
Rosella persuades Pan to give her his flute (Pan is a lesser god on greek mythology)
Rosella must face the Graeae and steal their eye away from them before they captured her in their cave. The Graeae are three Greek goddess sisters who share one eye.
Lolette tells Rosella to seek Pandora’s box for her somewhere in Tamir.
In King's Quest 5:
Graham is captured by Harpies.
Graham is ferried across the poisonous swamp to Dracula's house by the old ferryman from Hades Charon.
In King's Quest 6:
Alexander battles a Minotaur in the catacombs to save Lady Celeste.
Alexander is ferried across the River Styxx by the old ferryman in Hades Charon
Hades is place you visit (See above)
Alexander once again seeks the Oracles help.
Alexander himself is a reference to the Alexander from Greek Mythology (Though in Greek mythology Alexander's name is actually Paris, Alexander is a surname meaning protector of men)
Outside of Greek mythology, Queen Titania and King Oberon in KQ's 7 are characters from William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The third time he made the "plenty horny" joke is the one that really made me laugh out loud.

I would love to see the Monkey Island games. They were the best of the point and click adventures, though you may need a walkthrough for the earliest ones.

Count Vladimir Tsepesh is Vlad the Impaler. AKA Dracula. But they definitely seemed to have mashed that with Icabod Crane, the Headless Horseman. There's such an insane mishmash of so many religions, folklore, and mythology going on in this game...
I truly hope they play King's Quest VIII, I wanna see the shenanigans of Danny dealing with full 3D as well as puzzle solving.

So the whole thing with the dog and his masters, the 3 are a trio of celtic myths, mixed with the origin of Dracula. The dog is a Grim, the wife is possibly a banshee, and the husband is a dullahan (with the name Vlad Tepes, the full name of Vlad the Impaler, the basis of which came to inspire the story of Dracula. They likely combined the 2 due to his tendency to behead and then impale his enemies, hence the nickname "the Impaler").
Vlad Sippish or Seppish ... I think it's Sippish but hard to tell since there is no subtitles. lol

First Sierra game I ever played was Shivers 2, I was 9 but I never understood it at the time. I am now 31 and I recently beat it about 4 months ago and I felt completed.
Nostalgia goes a long way, this was super fun to watch.

For anyone wondering, Lord Vladimir Tepes (pronounced "Tsepesch") is the proper name of Vlad the Impaler, the man who inspired the story of Dracula.
Technically, it was Voivode Vlad (not Vladimir) III Draculea of Wallachia. "Tepes" is an epithet, it literally means "Impaler", it's not his real name. And he didn't really inspire Dracula so much as Bram Stoker just borrowed his name, since so much of Count Dracula's backstory actually conflicts with Vlad the Impaler's actual life (for instance, the region he was from in modern Romania being different, his relationship to the Turks, etc )

I haven't played any of the KQ games past 6, so it was nice to see what happened next. And I was born in the early 80's, so not all your audience is too young for this stuff. I grew up on Sierra Games too. Very excited to see Roberta Williams in the intro! Someone PLEASE tell Dan that Sierra did a point and click of Disney's Black Cauldron!
I'd love to see you guys play King's Quest 1-3, 8 and Space Quest 6. These chill adventure game LPs are some of my favourites.

So good! Now I wanna see NSP play Phoenix Online's The Silver Lining episodes 1-4 which continues the story so so well! It does even keep 8 as canon but there isn't as much needed there to get the full breadth of the amazingly well written and well voice acted passion project! Hope it gets finished with episode 5 one day but if you do play it, install it to a folder on the hard drive outside of Program Files for it to work well without having to launch the game as an admin just so you can save lol
