It's weird listening to this, because when it first came out I never used to be into the Gorillaz and I remember listening to it. But now as I'm quite a big fan of them, they feel quite old, but a small part of my childhood.
*Noodle:* I make big part of the most popular album of the band and you just send helicopters to kill me in my favorite place. *Murdoc:* Yeah, you forgive me? *Noodle:* Sure, why not?
This Music video feels like a farewell to Plastik Beach album. Its like they sat together on the end of working, and just compiled every concept and scene and sketch to each song and put it here, its so nostalgic..
"Empires will fall" It always hurts to hear. I never thought the "empire " i had would ever disappear, i was too in-the-moment to care. And when it did fall it was slow at first then it left in a chaotic boom. Gone when i needed it the most. I thought it would stay forever, never realizing i was growing older and out of it each day, but even when i saw the signs i convinced myself everything was fine. I thought i was immune to change, but time made me say "I've had enough, thank you" to the only comfort i had, and i want to ask God why. Basically every moment you experience is lost to history. Gone, only a memory, no going back. Remember this while you are at your highs, and maybe lows as well. Nothing is forever. I'm gonna go and reminisce on my own in the corner now.
@Sandro i lost. It wasn't one particular thing but a mix. My mindset, the ppl i knew, the things i was doing all completely changed. Like living was just different. Back then i had a net or an escape for anytime i felt down, but now it's all gone and it feels like hell. Best metaphor i can give would be like strolling through the remains of a long gone civilisation. Going through the metaphorical 'streets' knowing how alive and exciting the place used to be. Like a truly great place that once was. But now it's just ruins and i'm trying to rebuild and reach that level of greatness again but i'm frustrated i'm cos i'm not getting anywhere and a lot of other things are starting to eat at my soul as well now
when i was about 11 or 12, i was given a non-graded assignment in school to present a song to the class and talk about it for a few minutes. i chose this song. i loved empire ants SO MUCH back then and to this day i still love it so much. all my classmates watching me present looked so confused and uninterested as they didn't know this song and thought i presented something "weird" or "obscure". even my music teacher looked unamused? i do NOT regret it though. everyone else brought in mainstream music of the time (2016/17) whilst i introduced all these kids to a BANGER. i hope they're all listening to gorillaz now. kinda random but thought i'd share this anyway :)
this dude is nuts donut listen to the person so wack what the actual, deez nutz got em, when ... when did i ask. I didnt ask for dis infomatishion tanks.
I think Phase 3 is the best. Mainly because of the art style, I think Phase 4 at this moment seeing all artwork is a bit eccentric, I expect the music to be like do your thing. Which I like which ever way, but all 'n all phase 3 the best
Today I realise this is my favorite song ever. I always love this song with my soul, but I thought that one day it was going to lose it's magic. Today I listened after a long time without listen and it feels the same way as always. I feel it's intensity all over my body, everytime my eyes fills with humble tears, is kind of painful and holy at the same time, and that moment when the first part ends and the second one comes in a crescendo, fuck, I have to stop anything that I am doing to live that moment with all my senses. Thank you, Gorillaz and Little Dragon, for this heavenly therapy.
My experience with most Gorillaz songs: I hear it once: this song sucks. I hear it a second time: You know what, this song is actually not that bad. I hear it ten more times: I FUCKING LOVE THIS!!!
that happened to me with the songs "people", "spitting out the demons" and "RockIt", now I like them a lot, but not as much as this song or "to binge", they are my fav
This song will never stop delivering the most of love and soul that went into developing these characters. It reflects on the whole journey in such a bittersweet way. Even when Gorillaz eventually dies out, Empire Ants will live on forever along with other masterpieces under the band's hood. Truly mindblowing.
This song is beautiful, really. But when 2:15 starts I feel weird. It's like the song awoke some kind of agony in my chest, and I feel like I'm about to disapear. It's like someone gave a soundtrack to my depression crisis.
Crescendo Yeah, but when it gets to the second part you will wake up instantly ._. It's like when you fall asleep listening to Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon and then the song Time comes on and you shit yourself and have a heart attack at the same time. Trust me, I know.
Iván Burgos I have always loved that gorillaz fans (Which I have been a fan for a long time) have the same mutual like for Daft Punk (Who I also love) just proves that awesome people have the best taste in music ;)
I initially resisted listening to the entirety of this song for a good 2 years. Was pretty shocked to realize I missed out on 2:15 onwards all that time.
(En mi opinion) The best songs of Gorillaz are when theres a melancoly in the air. (In my oppinion)

The falling of the whole empire, is here to hold you

Your little feet, working the machine
Will it spin, will it soar
My little dream, working the machine
Soon like a wave that pass will fall
And closing in on you they're going on

Why???
How
listen to this song it's just like dreaming
This genuinely is good music.
You're saying that like its some kind of surprise?
Nicholas Chinn Considering the amount of people who consider bad music as good, then, yes, because you don't find music like this every day.
But are you surprised to find that Gorillaz have good music?
Nicholas Chinn Not really. They always had good music.

this song is not only still amazing but it also introduced me to little dragon so i'm forever grateful
same here
this comment will age like wine. I love little dragon and same here. Damon has introduced me to things all across the globe
this is my favorite song from that album and I just find that has a video.
same. Was telling my gf about it then found it has a video after listening to it for 6 years
I think Melancholy Hill is the best, not just of the album, but in all of Gorillaz.
Exact same position.

*Hands down, one of Gorillaz' best songs ever, simply beautiful...*
2:24 that drop is awsome
I like to listen to this lying down. it makes me feel both weightless and heavy...like I'm going to float straight up, through the ceiling and like I'm going to fall straight through my mattress and the ground. and I don't have to be high either....beautiful feeling.
***** Oh thank god for that. I was worried in case people thought i sounded crazy or something. Glad to know there is someone else who knows what im talking about!
+Iona Surtees well i got you but you just sounded pretentious, not crazy.
99superjesus huh? Well everyone is entitled to an opinion. I didn't mean to sound pretentious.
0:38 [Verse 1: 2-D]
Oh, joys are us, the sun has come again to hold you
Sailing out the doldrums of the week
The polyphonic prayer is here, it's all around you
It's all around you, out here
1:17 [Bridge: 2-D]
And if the whole world is crashing down (on you)
Fall through space out of mind with me
1:36 [Verse 2: 2-D]
Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising
Blows all the shadows far away
The falling of the whole empire, is here to hold you
Rolling out and haunted till it sleeps
2:45 [Hook: Yukimi Nagano]
Little memories, marching on
Your little feet, working the machine
Say will it spin, will it soar?
My little dream, working the machine
Soon, like a wave, empires will fall
And closing in on you, they're going on
Little memories
Your little feet, working the machine
Say will it spin, will it soar?
My little dream, working the machine
Soon like a wave, empires will fall
Closing in on you, they're going on

This song introduced me to Little Dragon and I'm so glad of that. I fucking love Little Dragon.
And gorrilaz? :P
I already knew about Gorillaz, I have been listening to them since I was like 8 years old.
Same here!! I saw a video of a live version and it was love at first sight/sound.
What about To Binge?
Little Dragon is pure auditory sex, glad they have another fan on board.
I recommend, underbart, it's my favorite little dragon song & video.
Check out" klap klap" too
It's weird listening to this, because when it first came out I never used to be into the Gorillaz and I remember listening to it. But now as I'm quite a big fan of them, they feel quite old, but a small part of my childhood.
I tried to sleep with this song, head full of dreams.
i love the way they went for a storyboard-like video instead of regular animation for this music video
there was supposed to be a music video, but im pretty sure it was cancelled because of budgeting issues

It’s a shame they never collaborated, even more so Daft Punk disbanded

Without doubt, one of the best Plastic Beach songs.
Totally agree
This Music video feels like a farewell to Plastik Beach album. Its like they sat together on the end of working, and just compiled every concept and scene and sketch to each song and put it here, its so nostalgic..
After 10 years im still listening to this
same dude
"Empires will fall"
It always hurts to hear.

Klezzy I think the same
I was wrong! It's amazing :3

My mom used to always listen to this, and I didn’t have a clue that it was made by Gorillaz and I’m obsessed with this song now
Such an underrated song
My experience with most Gorillaz songs:
I hear it once: this song sucks.
I hear it a second time: You know what, this song is actually not that bad.
I hear it ten more times: I FUCKING LOVE THIS!!!
Same, i used to only like three or four songs the demon days album now I like most of them
I Know Right
that happened to me with the songs "people", "spitting out the demons" and "RockIt", now I like them a lot, but not as much as this song or "to binge", they are my fav
SAME M8
I was like "uh what's this."
And after a few times Its my favorite song.
My experience is more like when you hear a song 10x, but I feel like that immediately.

Jamie Hewlett is an AMAZING artist.

Gorillaz= the last refuge for great music.
Daft Punk,Mgmt,Justice,Deadmau5 etc
Iván Burgos I have always loved that gorillaz fans (Which I have been a fan for a long time) have the same mutual like for Daft Punk (Who I also love) just proves that awesome people have the best taste in music ;)
Exactly my friend one of the best genres actually is the electronic music.
Iván Burgos It's all subjective

I initially resisted listening to the entirety of this song for a good 2 years. Was pretty shocked to realize I missed out on 2:15 onwards all that time.
Feels like that with other gorillaz songs actually, like demon days felt meh for me until I heard the second part which is much more funkier
Why did you resist?

yeah, that is the best part

The best songs of Gorillaz are when theres a melancoly in the air. (In my oppinion)
No te equivocas
