1:18 i love how shingo put funny looking smear on a serious scene.its something u can see on comedy genre cartoon such as tom and jerry, but here we can see him putting it on an action scene
something I noticed that was interesting is that a lot of the smear animations are done in 1's instead of the typical 2's. Definitely keeping that in mind.
I think that smears play a Big role in how we percieve movement in this animation. More that just doing inbetweens properly using smears is a skill on its own.
this makes most anime from a 7/10 to a solid 9/10 kinda like opm i really liked the first season not bc of the plot bc its not very fleshed out like later in the manga but the animation made a nut on several occasions
Another great video! Just one question: how do you know a key animator's work? Well, You Yoshinari is usually obvious. The growing explosions, the flowing movement. But with others. Like the ones who worked on One-Punch Man? I've been trying to find the key animation on the first fight in ep 1 and I just can't find it. So I'm asking if you could give me some pointers on how you pinpoint each key animator with their work
Not really something i want to bother with. I do these videos because its fun and as easy resources for animator pals as examples of different effects and techniques. I wouldn't spend hours editing something together that I'm not interested in. Scenes like that would probably fall in the character animation category and BlueSakuga has videos on character acting already. ^_^
Not at present unfortunately. I'm planning on finishing a few more videos then I'll stop uploading. Moving onto some personal goals I wanna accomplish so I wont have the time to devote to these anymore. Planning on making the next few uploads my best before I go out so please look forward to them. 🙏🏿
@@SakugaDaichi Oh I see. That's really unfortunate. You and Blue Sakuga were my 2 favorite sakuga mad uploaders. But now you're going and Blue barley ever posts. Well, I guess it's for the better; you DO need to do something with your life. Anyway, I'll be waiting for your last few uploads. 👍

Action scenes that get cartoony are my favorite, just completely disregarding logic to be as dynamic as possible

Norio's work is fantastic.

Yutaka Nkamura is still the best.
So smears is anything that doesn't retain its original form in motion?
Loved the video.

Great video. I was waiting for Midoriya vs Gran Torino scenes, but this video was released in 2016, unfortunately.
If i get around to it i'll make sure to include those scenes in a follow up video.

You only used one clip from One Piece and never used a single scene animated by Katsumi Ishizuka, the smear god animator working on the series.
