Sound quality maybe?! Options? Lack of headaches! I would never, ever buy this. He said it doesn't sound as good as the CXA81, and their streamer (CXN V2 I think?). And that's not exactly a very special setup by any means. The CXN doesn't even have a nice power supply (no nice big toroidal like the much cheaper Marantz NA6006), and the DACs are very basic in both of those components. These are a complete waste of money, if you're looking for good sound. This is what they call a "lifestyle" product.
Go get a Topping D70s MQA, an Allo USBridge Signature, or a Pro-ject Streambox S2 Ultra like I have, and any decent amp. Even a Marantz pm6006, and it will smoke this in sound quality. Heck even just run straight into my cheap $500 Ncore amp from Audiophonics will crush this. Never mind my Exposure 3010 s2d. And I don't have to worry about dealing with software issues, or being on the phone with customer support for hours. All these units are trouble like that. Plus there's no way to add room correction, or an EQ with this either. So you better have a good room, and the ability to add room treatments, just in case. I can just put my MiniDSP SHD Studio in between the streamer, and the DAC. Fire up Dirac, and the problem is solved. Individual components are definitely the way to go. But if not. You would want to deal with a more reputable company. Get a Naim Uniti Atom. Much better unit. By a country mile!

If you need to save space and appreciate a minimalist design approach to setting up your music room, you can't go wrong with this EVO line. • @AudioAdvice

The HK 680 was a great old amp but I think the EVO would certainly be a worthy replacement. Keep in mind that your Azure 851N is also a digital preamp so you could in theory connect a nice power amp to it as long as you are using digital sources.

Great question. The speakers we tested dip down under 4 ohms. And while Cambridge does not spec it at 4, if you go research the modules they use, both almost double down at 4 ohms and can drive 2 ohms as well. Thanks for watching!

Funny how no one seems to be addressing the sub-out on this. It's only a sum of the L+R channels, and offers NO bass management whatsoever, and is completely inexcusable for the price.

Hello everyone, i'm considering buying one of these but i don't know if i really need the 150 version over the 75 one.
    - Do i really need 150W ? I have an old pair of KEF IQ70 (15 - 150W) that are driven by a 40W ampli that i barely never had to push to his limits.
    - Is the usb audio of the 150 game changing to connect a pc to the evo as an audio output or the 1 S/PDIF coaxial connexion would be enough ?
Thank you for your help !

@@AudioAdvice If i get it, I will predominantly use it for streaming but also want the option to connect my preamp, which is connected to my turntable. Also see there is an hdmi port so if its possible, would like to connect my apple tv as well. I know the 150 can do all of that but the price is pretty steep already for the 75. Also looking at a YAMAHA receiver as well but since Im mostly going to be listening to music, thought this to be the better option.

    • @AudioAdvice

@@OldDolio312 This would sound the best and if your preamp has a Tape out, that would send a fixed level for your turntable over to the EVO. Or it sounds like your only use is for the phono preamp built into your preamp, you could just leave the volume on your preamp at a level that works. very well made and pleasing to the eye but horrible if not paired up correctly . i bought one of these for my wife's Klipsch r 800 or some such number and the result was horrible . yes the room is a disaster but that alone doesn't account for why i hate the evo . the volume dial drives me crazy . it endlessly spins with no starting or stopping point and each bit of movement results in very little change to the volume . So , i tried cranking it up and the result was a muddled bass that overwhelmed the highs and lows making for an unlistenable situation .
classical music wasn't too ad at very low volumes but as soon as i try to push the speakers it all falls apart .
plus i do not like digital menus and screens. im a dial and button type of nut . on/off on the amp , balance , bass and treble dials and a beefy 1 to 10 or twenty volume dial .
    ok , flame alway 😂😎🔥

I am one unlucky owner to have a faulty EVO150 less than 2 months of ownership. And once DOWN, the REPAIR IS TAKING LONG.....it is 1 MONTH DOWN TIME now and counting. No ETA from Cambridge on spares delivery after asking more than 4 times.
Have to pray your EVO do not spoil. Not 5 star definitely in customer service.
