I'm glad I clicked on your video! I confess to chasing shiny objects and it's a rat race. your video has helped me refocus and get back on track. I love the service based business I have. Thank you!
You know Lauren regarding why people who try to make their own business get distracted and also sleep all day and not being productive. It is they don't have the right mentor. There are tons and tons of videos on youtube or other social medias of people explaining how to grow your design business and they all say the same typical stuff like ( I made 10k dollars from upwork or fiver or whatever ) and people who follow them get frustrated at the end and they start to search for 9 to 5 jobs. Trust me it took me along time to come across a great and very underrated channel like yours which tells the honest truth and the honest experience about the design business and thats why I am happy to say that I always recommend your channel for my graphic designer friends who needs a true advice that can help them in their careers. 🙏
I really can’t thank you enough for this. I try to be so real and give tangible advice that goes beyond just the tactics because there’s 50% business and 50% life and both with affect each other to either work together or not. Thanks for your genuine loyalty and I’m always happy to assist😊
Same bro, the other channels also create tutorials for complicated designs which confuse juniors into thinking they should be skilled at these as well & that paints an untrue picture that *all* companies may demand it from them, which feeds the imposter syndrome. Or the channels talk about how much money they made in a short time and how we can get there. It's not practical for everyone.
@@JaleelBeig I am sorry that there are those that create false pictures. I try to be as honest as possible, but also inspiring so you know the level you can achieve! You just need the practical data to get there. And yes, too complicated designs are for sure intimidating.
It looks like this video was there to remind me that I Am not 100% on the right track. Because a 9 to 5 job at the moment pays my bills. And I cannot easily discard it, at least before my design skills are strong enough to replace that "awful" job. I hear you say : "you will never feel strong enough! " Right. I agree. So the question becomes: how to survive while you search for mentorship?
I’m glad to remind you, but if you feel your skills aren’t up to where you want, I suggest you focus strongly on practicing on the side of your job until you feel it could be exchanged for money from a client.
Is so true!! We should focus on learn one thing even if you want to learn so many subjects, but you can still into it as a hobbie 😊 Could you recomend good books of graphic desing and for creatives ? 🤩🙌🏻

When you mention income of 6k + in the months following the in-house job offer, would you say that's before expenses? When looking at my design income, I'm trying to see if I would look at mine the same way. Thanks gal!
Hey, Lauren. I'm a new sub, in the videos I've checked, you're a breath of fresh air in the graphic design scene because you, a senior, seem to interact with with your followers regularly. I have been looking for such a figure lately. & I wanted to know: do you have a discord or any community we could join where you interact with designers more frequently?
Thanks so much for your kind words, Jaleel 😊 I don’t have any communities outside of my course communities which I’m in daily. I’m also on IG sometimes. But I’m always happy to answer questions here.

Yes! Choose the one you enjoy the most or have the most skills in and then once those are successful you can add in the others.

Yes! Before expenses unfortunately.
