So my pond filter has been clogging up a lot recently. I have found a lot of floating rubber like algae knocking around in the skimmer and floating around.
So I have taken the step to clean my pond walls and release all of the semi loose rubber like algae from the pond walls and into the filter. Evolution Aqua Nexus 220
How I clean my Nexus 220 inner chamber (mechanical filtration).
I also use the pond landing net to catch the algae and remove it from the pond.
I also show how I remove the inner mechanical section of my pond filter to ensure a full clean and clear drop. Especially when dealing with these rubbered up bad boys.

I’ve had the full rubber algae episode twice now Johnny. However usually in spring, it’s a right pain in the arse I know. Hope your well Pal 👍

Make sure you give the outer chamber a check for c@&p. Get a bit of pipe and check inside the legs and the 3 dead spots in the outer.

I've never seen algae like that before. A pond vac would make your life a lot easier. I use mine for cleaning the pond and filter.
I hadnt until this year mate, didnt know what it was til a few people confirmed it and saw other youtubers with similar issue. PS I enjoyed the brushing TBH, I put on a gun show for the neighbours 💪 😂
I`ve got the same issue , Johnny . I believe its what you`re left with after blanket weed has died off . Best way to deal with it is to pond-vac it off from the walls and floor , before it starts peeling off . (that ship has sailed , for you , this time - unfortunately🙂) I`ve done mine twice in the last few weeks and it now needs doing again .😒 Two things that help this stuff grow are fish waste and lack of shade . Hopefully were coming to the end of the main feeding season , it should settle down .

When you had the pipe in the centre hole and water was coming back through, that is how I was taught to back flush the bio chamber to inner chamber. Glad you got rid of all the algae mate 👍🏼

If your getting issues with larger than poo sized stuff, what about getting the cetus sieve? That is the ideal pre filter before the nexus. Easy to install aswell

JOHNNY I fill 3 watering cans an 3 buckets of waste for her pots in garden flowers are blooming BTW, the rest gets flushed into the docs garden behind r house cheeky aren't I lol 😂😂😂

Hi Johnny, blimey that looked a lot of work to get it all cleared out mate. As you say, just seems to be a layer of algae mate. It’s probably just down to the fact the pond is quite open and gets a lot of light. Think its time for that pergola and office and filter house and polycarbonate sheeting covers for the winter months. Come on mate, what have you been doing with your time……. 🤔 😂🤣😂

Made me lol that Andy mate, yeah I have pergola and oddice/ filter house ideas but at minute they are parked mate. Gutting but it will be done just not sure when. TBH I enjoyed the little graft brushing down the walls. Yeah old conservatory roof coming out this weekend but it has to be the last winter for it. Time and money mate time and money 💰

You don’t have to push the grey pipe all the way in dude…just push it in enough so the rubber seals the hole to stop waste water going into the outer chamber👍🏼it’s easier to get out after the inner chamber is clean👍🏼

It’s in small amounts from a big pond I get it inside my bakki shower spot mile off with it being stainless like a black skin that’s slimy
Bloody he’ll mate that’s worst I think I have ever seen 😮 bet that took some time to clear 😂definitely need to go filter house and roof ,, my roof went on this year due to a massive bacteria issue ,,but on top of it now but with big loses 🎌🇯🇵🎌
