I see lots of people using drawer slides, but aren't inaccurate? For them to slide smoothly, we must not make it tight. So there is always a little play.
This press has worked like a charm for my projects ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!
good video and diy but i would like to suggest that DC barrel socket is not going to sustain 5A DC current you need to put some other sort of connector. Anyways its was a good video and a DIY build too. Keep it up!!
A drill should not run at very high RPM and it is highly recommended to put a gearbox on the motor as a 775 runs at very high RPMs, in fact I would say it is too powerful a motor for a small drill. All current drills have a reducer, it lowers the revolutions and increases the torque in drilling. Your drill is going to burn the wood and the bits, in the same video you can see it, and the special bits for wood can break them. And in the case of metal, you're going to generate more heat than drilling.
Awesome video presented, but I doubt whether this perfection can be achieved as DIY PROJECT since a lot of skill is needed.
