If you're looking to adopt a cat, let us know your preference (male or female). If you already have a cat, let us know if these generalizations apply to your feline friend! 🐈💙🐈💗
My cats came from outdoors my apt. It was a mom(female) and her son(male) still a kitten. the mom was a bit feral in her attitude. She was not cuddley and she did not like a lot of petting except the usual scratch behind the ears and pet down her back. when she was done with your attention she gave a quick swipe at you with her paw. Her son on the other hand was sweet, loved a cuddle and plenty of attention. Would sleep with you and follow you around the house. Of course I loved them both and provided each one with each wanted. I just love cats and like me would never want to be put in a box especially without any previous getting to know period. 😻😍🐾✌️
My 51 year experience with cats I have found neutered males to be far calmer and more affectionate than spayed females. My girl cats were cuddly but ONLY when they felt like it but the boys always seemed to want to be held.
After over 15 years of rescuing/fostering and helping thousands of cats, I and other rescuers I know agree that it's the neutered male cats that are generally more affectionate than females, Females are also often more energetic and playful whereas males are usually calmer after they're full grown adults. I'm of course generalizing
Thats my experience too. The males I've had are huge cuddle-bugs, sweet and chill. The females range from nearly feral to very aloof and picky. The meanest cat I ever had (despite having her from 6 weeks) was a spayed female.. she was extremely aggressive and hated human interaction.
True for me too... My only ever female was very independent, hated our other cats and would tolerate being smoothed for a few minutes then bite or scratch. Our many boys have been far more affectionate and cuddly. Currently have 3 boys, they are delightful and great company. All my cats have been neutered and rescue cats. They are the light of my life 😺
I've had cats for 70 years, usually 3 or 4 at a time. My observations: they must be spayed/neutered! Males (neutered) are the most cuddly and affectionate, but every cat is different. Females (spayed) are usually very territorial; depends on the cat. In every group the dominant cat was a female, who always occupied the highest perch in the house, where she could look down on the other cats. Female cats are generally more graceful and will not knock things over, whereas the males seem to like the sound of knickknacks hitting the floor! There are lots of exceptions to this. All my cats learned their names in a very short time, but most would not come when called. Unless I had food. Or they felt like it. Introducing a new cat of either sex (neutered of course) to the group was never a problem beyond the first couple days of hissing from the resident females. The males couldn't care less. Cats are weird. I think they are aliens.
Bowing down to a true cat veteran 🙌🏼 I completely agree too but have only had spayed females, and only one set of two. Our neighbours boy cat lives with us though and my cat is no longer aggressive but can be a bit mischevious and dominant if she fancies it. He’s extremely clingy and chilled out, very docile. They don’t cuddle up ever but they can sleep on different sides of the bottom of the bed almost touching. She has the temperament of a Doberman though always watching and on guard, only shows affection to me and sleeps in my bed at night, I’m the youngest girl in the house my poor mum doesn’t get a look in.
i have a male and female cat. they’ve known each other for about 5 years, but they still barely tolerate each other! it’s upsetting because i’ve had the female one for around 11 years and the boy bullies her. Idk what else to do other than separating them
I've had cats for over 50 years and I couldn't agree more. My boy cats - who I always get neutered by 8mos & usually by 6mos - are the *most* affectionate. But, both genders are equally territorial, in my experience. I have 3 7mo kittens right now - same litter, 2 males, 1 female. That little girl can jump into places her brothers can only dream of being! She has at least a 4 foot straight vertical; their mama does, too. The boys are fast, but last night I heard a cat at the door, when I thought all the cats were in. Go to see who's there, it's my princess! I had no idea she was out - she slipped out when I was letting another cat in earlier! She is the escape artist! And she's been spayed since she was 5mo. So it's hard to generalize about cats. I'd hate for a loving cat to miss out on a great home just because someone made assumptions based on things the cat can't control.
My cat (also my first) is very lovey but only to me as well xD he’s lived with me and my parents since he was 10 weeks old, he’s 4 now, yet I’m the only one he’ll want to kiss and cuddle on xD
@@Sunny25611 same as mine, hides for long hours until company leaves or when someone is asleep, then she comes out quietly of her hiding spot. Until she sees the person again, then goes hiding
I got my cat based on him being the oldest cat at the shelter. He is a 2-year-old, and all the rest in the shelter at the time were kittens. He was lying in the cage, with his back to me when I first saw him. I convinced the shelter staff to let me take him home the same night, instead of waiting to meet him. He was a street cat. Now he's a spoiled apartment cat
same here! I haven't actually adopted the cat yet, but as soon as I finally hear back from the shelter I hopefully will. he's 17 and his name is tigger, I haven't met him in person but his description on the shelter's website just sounds so perfect...
I've had the exact opposite experience. I've had a couple of female cats the don't want to be held at all. I've had several male cats that won't let you NOT hold them. I've had one male cat that didn't want to be held either. I think it depends on how they were treated as kittens.
The last part is 100000% true. Kittens need to be handled A LOT so as adult they enjoy human touch more. But even so personality traits can come into play. All the cats we had growing up were big lap cats and loved to actually be ON you. My two now both male and female are not like that at all
Absolutely! I became the "owner" of a male kitten only four weeks old and as I had to hand-feed him and wean him and house-train him (luckily he seemed already to know what a litter box is), I became his mom, and he was super-affectionate and demanded to be picked up and held and cuddled very often--when I came home, after he had had his dinner, etc. After this lone male, I had two females (sisters), who came to me half-grown; they were quite affectionate but not to each other! They competed for my lap and my cuddles.
my grandma has both a male and female cat the female one is antisocial while scratchy (the male one) befriended a wild cat once he was actually seen as the big alpha of the area, the horse and the sheeps respected him
the biggest difference between my male and female cat is that the male always has a distant derpy look that says no thoughts just vibes and the female has a very expressive glance that is more focused and sensitive.
This is how it’s always been for me too. The female cats always seem like criminal masterminds while the males seem entirely empty headed but sweet. I’ve only ever had one instance where that wasn’t how they were, with an orange tabby male that wasn’t friendly at all and had the mannerisms of the female cats I’ve had where he kind of had this “I’m better than you” vibe lol
I currently have a male and a female cats at home. Your observation literally just sum the difference between them, which I hadn’t been able to put in words before 😂
Years ago I was lucky enough to have a stray female who had 4 babies. As the kittens grew she would watch them closely and at times engage in play, which is mostly practice for hunting and fighting. And if they got too aggressive she would swat them hard enough to send them rolling. All the kittens became very sweet, loving adults. Cats are wonderful people!
I have had two pairs of neutered males/ spayed females, and now two neutered males. While all but one female was affectionate, the females were more independent. The males have all been cuddlebugs, even the last one who who would "never be a lap cat," according to the rescue! The first male/female pair protected me against my violent husband by biting him when he tried to strangle me to death. I rescued them, and years later, they saved me.
Beautiful story, thanks for sharing. Our kitties really do love us and want to comfort and protect us. One time I was feeling very suicidal and crying and my cat crawled into my lap to cuddle, snapped me right out of it.
I always find my male cats are usually more friendly and affectionate than my females, but yes, I agree that males are DEFINITELY more inquisitive and mischievous, two of my males are continuously getting into trouble! LOL. But I don't care, I still love them!😻❤🐈
All my male cats too, I could do anything with them. About being social yes, my males were more social. I was brought up with cats, had cats all my life, none of the females were cuddly except for the last one who isn't mine but my neighbours and she claims my lap as soon as she sees me and gets a chance to. That is too funny, I now 'have' a cat without costs or needing to feed.
I and my parents before me have had cats since I was 6 or 7 years old, many decades. We have had memorable spunky cats of both genders. Generally, the males are friendlier. They can learn tricks more easily than the females. I love having cats. All of our cats have been chatty with us. They love to supervise.
I always thought males were more affectionate, however when I got my adopted Birman girl I've never seen a more empathetic affectionate and almost humanlike cat in my life. She trusts me like none of my other cats ever had. She is quite playful and loud all the time though lol. But I would not trade her for the world.
That is so sweet! I feel the same about my cat. (Who I also adopted). Birmans are known as being one of the most affectionate, friendly and gentle breeds, they are just wonderful. 🙂
My first cat was an adopted male Persian. Adorable, playful and affectionate When he died at 15 years I quickly replaced him with a female tortoiseshell and a male fluffy grey cat. I think he was separated from his mother too soon. He tried to suckle her. They had some feisty confrontations. When I was able to get him fixed ( she came fixed) that mellowed him out. He never meowed though she did all the talking. When she died at 15 years. He cried I could here him from another room. Then he started to meow and express himself. I really miss having kitties but too expensive and lifting the litter is too much for me. The 3 were the best for me though. Very lovable .
@@vyda - Yes. An alternative is to get a good long-handled sieved spoon for litter boxes. That works fine for me and is easier than pulling up a folding chair to do the job. I also feed and water the cats in elevated positions, works fine. I have a catproof fence around the yard but need to keep a tracker on one escape artist, and she just jumps up on a chair or counter when she sees me dangling her tracker collar so I can easily get it on her. (I take it off when she is inside for the night.) I have only so many safe bends per day now.... and my grabber can help with small food dishes but it’s chancy. I also would recommend enlisting the help of someone to help with such chores if needed. I did that for an elderly neighbor for several years and ended up with his cats as my inheritance when he died! By then they both knew me very well. I would visit every day and take care of the litter boxes, make sure water and food were properly available and give both cats sufficient attention (their pet human was kind of clueless, his wife had been the nurturing one in the family).
my male cats are more affectionate, i have had some loving females too but the boys usually seem to want to be held more. i mean my boys demand to be held often lol
In my case the cat chose me. He was a stray, about a year old, that just walked into my house and kept coming back. Nobody local knew where he was from they’d just seen him around. Took him to the vet and no chip. He was still intact which I think would have been sorted if he had a home. So I didn’t have much choice in choosing a male or female.
Something similar happened to me when I was younger, except the cat had an owner and would constantly come to visit me. My dad hates cats and wasn't a fan of one constantly trying to get into our house, in the end all I really remember is that the original owners got rid of him.
Yeah, my household has a "no don't touch me!" female cat, one snuggle obsessed female cat, one "Hug boy" male cat (he loves being held) and one "calm, cool and collected" male cat that likes to escape outside.
This was really interesting. My large male cat is sweet, gentle, passive and cuddly. My tiny female Cornish Rex (a typically affectionate breed) is spunky, particular, demanding and doesn't have any idea what personal space is. They've finally come to accept each other, but Boopie, our second cat rules the house regardless of being 1/3 the size of Carl. So glad to have found this channel, definitely subscribing!
I am a die hard male cat kind of gal. My best experience has been with males, they are so so so cuddly and loving. I've only ever had needy male kitties. Love being held, pet, kissed, and cuddled. I even had 2 males so far that would follow me every where, come running when their names were called, and had a strict cuddle-nightly routine. The females that we've had in our household have always been extremely independent. Did not want to be held. Wanted to be pet and cuddled only when they wanted it. Graceful, dominant, and elegant. I did have one female, though, who from an extremely young age I trained strictly. She was the sweetest thing. She loved being held and cuddled. Such a sweet girl. She was raised with one of the boys mentioned that was the love of my life due to him being a follower and cuddler. I just trained them early on to associate me with sleeping and cuddling. As well as taught them that biting and scratching didn't work, they wouldn't be put down until I gave them a kiss. (Though, out of respect for them I usually kept holding as a short period. If they were going to behave and not attack me, then I tried very hard to respect them.)
I had a female cat. She was quite shy when it came to strangers, but very affectionate towards my family, especially me. She would come greet us at the door when we came home and brushed against our legs 24/7. I could say she was like a sister to me. Sadly she died last July. My best friend has two female cats of the same litter - sisters. They get along quite well, sometimes they even play fight and stalk each other. They are both rather independent and don’t need as much petting and cuddling as my cat did. While my cat spent most of her life indoors, my friend’s cats go out regularly and hunt down birds & mice.
I had a male black cat for 19 years, and he is and always will be the love of my life. I adored my siamese growing up and I adore my current cats, but my black cat had both my heart and soul. He was the sweetest and most loving cat. He loved cuddling with me on the couch, he enjoyed being held and kissed and didn't mind me smooshing his face. The way he would look at me, with eyes full of love and devotion, it was like he was looking into my soul. I know I'll never have a cat like him again.
In my life long love with felines of both male & female…I have been so deeply loved by male kitties. Male cats have stolen my heart and fulfill me with so much joy. I will say that the female cats are way smarter & learn tricks faster…they will commit their life to you. It’s crazy if you love them 100%, they will love you 200%. Bless these precious furry babies.
Totally agree with your video, I also noticed that females will usually bond with a female (woman/girl) in the household its an odd thing and yeah once that happens she will not accept another cat cheerfully/at all!
My sweet baby boy was the sweetest cat ever. He had 1 life mission, love me as often and as aggressively as possible. I miss him every second of every day.
I’ve recently fostered over a dozen cats from different litters, and a mix of males and females from about 8 weeks to 6 months old (2-3 at a time). The males are curious and enjoy some roughhousing, but are actually less active and less “athletic” than the females. They all like to play and have attention, but females NEED to run, jump, and hunt each evening. They want to chase something extensively. Males are often satisfied with watching or toying with something interesting, and they want a quick and easy chase and catch. A little lazier. It takes more work to keep males in good shape physically because you have to motivate them to run. The girls just won’t stop moving until well into the night. The degree to which they want physical affection varies more by personality than gender seemingly.
My Daisy is the same, she needs the thrill of the chase and she’s been an expert at it since she adopted me at 10 weeks old! Interesting that you’ve pointed it out, I wonder if it’s because of the basic instinct for a queen to provide food for her young?
@@cc1k435 It reminds me of lion prides exactly. The girls (of the same age and same litter) jump 3-4x their height into the air, doing flips, to catch flying prey (that of course I'm swinging around). The males won't usually expend that much energy or effort to catch a toy... but if the girls or another male want to get physical, the males will not stop until they've pinned the other down or made them squeal in order to prove their superiority, or until they've been thoroughly beaten by another male (and then they are just biding their time until the next opportunity to test themselves against their brothers). The girls won't fight over and over and submit so they can get back to chasing things. The boys still do chase and catch, but they seem to want to watch whatever they are chasing for long periods to find the easiest time to catch it. Boys like to fight; girls like to hunt and chase. Amazing to see these instincts emerge again and again because when I first get them they can barely walk without tripping over their own feet.
This is so true of my cats. My female is graceful, agile and athletic, while my male is chubby and clumsy lol. He's younger than her but can't jump nearly as high and always misses. Both adorable.
"The short answer is yes. The long answer is it's complicated" made me giggle XD A very nice summary of both genders. Male and female pairs complimenting each other seems to be the common pairing in my experience. My first cat was a very territorial female and my second cat is what you call an escape artist XD but he's very cuddly and affectionate.
I've had probably over 30 cats in my life, (strays with litters) Nurtured males are by far the most affectionate. You can literally throw a blanket over them and cuddle them and they are happy purring machines.
I've only had three cats in my life, two girls and one boy. He was very playful and cuddled with EVERYONE 😅 with humor, we called him a slut lol. Both my female cats have been very attached to me but don't like other people. Love cats 🥰
Can confirm! My boy cuddles with me almost every night, lets me spoon him, etc. It’s impossible to pet him ‘too much!’ The other night, he was so close up against me, that I was distracted by feeling each breath he took and had to scoot over, haha!
All the male cats I’ve ever had weren’t very affectionate and did their own thing. But a few weeks ago I got this big dude named Goose and I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen such an cuddly cat before. I’ve had more female cats than male and he even more attention needy then any of them😂
Honestly I think it really comes down to the cats as individuals. We've had VERY affectionate male cats (my little brother currently has the most antisocial cat I've ever seen with everyone bar him but they are inseparable when strangers aren't around) and female cats that are very independent (had her for over 15 years and would only take affection on her terms but LOVED it when she did). Part of the joy with new pets is how they are all unique and learning to understand each other.
My Maine Coon male is very cuddly, while the Maine Coon female is not. He's all over anyone that comes over, while she hides, and will only sleep by my legs or between my feet, where he's right in my face, trying to sleep in my chest. I have lots of cats, and they all have different personalities.
Is your big cat orange and/or a Maine Coon? Main Coins are the largest cat breed and are particularly affectionate. Orange cats are also more affectionate than other fur colors.
Me too. I grew up with a female, she wasn’t touchy at all and did rarely come to get a cuddle. My two boys on the other hand come and sleep on top of me every night 😂
Definitely an interesting generalization. My female cat is more friendly towards strangers than my male cat was. She also is an escape artist. She rough houses pretty well. When I still had my boy, he would often start rough play with her, and then I'd hear him cry. I called it his sore loser cry. I don't think he ever won a game with her.
I have had the opposite experience. My male cats are affectionate, sweet boys! They are my favorite 😻 Please don't be afraid to adopt a male from the shelter. They will love you and be wonderful companions!!❤❤❤
Another thing a friend of mine (and myself) found out after getting her cat spayed was that we weren't allergic to her any more 🤔 Our vet told us that sometimes getting your cats spayed or neutered helps with the allergens it may create after licking their fur for their "bath time". I thought that was really odd and had to share! I prefer male cats/animals and of course they have to be neutered! It's for their own well-being and safety 😸 Thank you for this, I never knew male cats had a shorter urethra, I would have thought it was the other way around. Always learn from your videos! 😊
@@pmbluemoon more now they are keeping the testes to prevent future health problems even in a full neuter! Myboy just had a vasectomy cuz his asthmatic lungs couldn't tolerate the anesthesia! However were thinking vet I that he's maybe fertile again?
We've often had male cats let kittens nuzzle them and will babysit them. We've also had them be at least as loving as the females, and females have just as much curiosity about sneaking outdoors if they can, and be at least as mischievous as our males. I guess you could say our cats have usually been unlike the 'average' of their gender all the way around, LOL!
I think the most famous cat for that was Grandpa Mason at Tiny Kittens. A time - worn feral, he was rescued but grouchy. Later, he met two kittens and melted into them. He was grandpa to their fosters and left his pawprints on many hearts.
@@ginnyjollykidd Grandpa Mason was the BEST!! We all miss him terribly and I'm sure he is spreading his elderly love to all over the rainbow bridge 🙏🌈♥️🐈⬛🐾
Imo there is no true difference in personality between cat sexes. A cat’s size has more of an impact than its sex on its temperament (ie, the smaller the cat, the more cautious it tends to be), while socialization (ie: nurture) blurs any so-called “temperament differences” even further. Really the biggest difference are what health complications they’ll experience because of their birth-sex (like male cats being more prone to urinary tract issues like bladder crystals and kidney problems than female cats, and like clockwork affecting a male cat around age 3-5 years)
@@anonymousfellow8879 You have a point there. My family had five cats at one point, and the first one we got, Weedie, introduced each new one to the household. I called him the mother of them all because he was very gentle with them all, even if they hissed at him. He was amazing and had a very high voice.
I think in Going to get my cat a leash we don't let her outside cause of hawks coyotes but she used to be out door till we found her crying at a taco bell lol
My elderly father had a male cat. Every time my dad sat in his recliner the cat would jump into his lap & fall asleep on his big warm belly. That cat was afraid of everyone else except for my dad & my teenage daughter. When my dad passed away, my daughter who at that point was a young adult, kept the cat until he died several years later. She did everything she could to keep that kitty going for as long it did. Even giving daily insulin shots. It was quite old when it passed. It was so hard to give up that last reminder of her Grandpa.
Of all the cats (ive) had, 2 "adopted" me, while the 3rd one was given to me by a friend of my sister. The first was an orange female tabby, the second was a gray (russian blue?), and the current one is my buddy, Black Friday, and he also adopted me. The orange female tabby originally was my sister's, but it switched to my dad, and then to me, so i guess that would be adopting the human. I named the orange female tabby, "Whisket", (a slight misspelling of my dads favorite drink), we got her spayed after a stray male tried to mate with her, but i thwarted it by dumping water on him. That cat followed me everywhere except to school and/or work. When i moved, (twice), Whisket's mode of transport was an old birdcage, as the cat carriers hadnt been thought of yet. She lived right at 16 years, and several months after she passed, my sister gave me "Biskit", from one of her friends cat's litter. He stuck with me for a few years, then when i got married, he became my wifes cat. He also lived around 16 years, then there was a period where my wife did daycare and our kids were in multiple activities, so, no pets for around 10 years, then Black Friday came along, and hes been the best one to date. (And ive spoiled him worse than a human child!) End of story!
@@stevenhenry4227 ohhhhh, Dallas, "The Big "D"! Theyve had some unsettled weather lately, and so has the rest of the south. I grew up in Springfield Illinois, and currently live in a little burg just outside of there called Sherman. Ive lived there for 36 years, which is half my life of 72.
One of My male cats needed to have PU surgery. The other did not but it essentially gives the male a vulva to widen the urethra. It isn't crazy expensive and has a high success rate. I'm so happy we did it. Our boy is back to his normal self and has many years ahead of him. Urinary blockages are deadly.
I have had many cats, and the males were by far more affectionate, always wanting to be by my side, and displaying their interest in everything I was doing. The females usually couldn't have cared less.
My girl cats are older than my boy cats, the girls are in charge and they keep the boys in line.🐆 For me boy or girl doesn't matter. It seems like the boys need more attention though, they talk alot more than the girls do. " Eddie be quiet I'm trying to sleep." Eddie says," I don't care get your lazy butt up and feed me I'm hungry!"🙂
my male cat had urinary trackt infection, it was such a horrible experience. But, the appropriate diet really helped and he never had that issue again. I knew it was serious when he didn't resist the tranporter and wasn't screaming in the car. I absolutely love my boy, he is a very friendly cuddlebug.
I had my male cat for 3 years before I got him a little sister when they first met Luna buried her face under binxs belly and tried to nurse he just looked so confused and groomed her till she fell asleep with him on the chair. Binx was sad because he was best friends with my bunny but the bunny was already 12 years old and passed away 2 years into their friendship he kept looking for Jessie bunny and checking his pen and his bed and his little house so as soon as someone told me they had kittens that needed homes I signed up to take one without a second thought and they’ve been each others best friend ever since
my younger cat tries to nurse on my older one's pawpads. sometimes he doesnt mind it, but other times she clings onto him when hes sleeping and he gets annoyed. cats are strange!
I had 2 neutered males. One passed away from kidney disease, and I had to go to the vet more than once due to having blockages in his urethra. It broke my heart, but I treasure the time I spent with the big guy (he was slim and still 20lbs if you can believe it)
My male cats are so very affectionate. I adopted males after I learned they were more cuddly. True for me. They are mischievous, but I understand that. They’re just curious and are trying to have an interesting life. Who doesn’t want that?
I have 2 females under ! year from different litters & they are sooo different! The older one is skittish & very easy scared but the younger one is the opposite! When the door goes the older one runs and hides whilst the younger one runs to the door!
I would like to add to the thought that we cannot put cats in a box. Perhaps not, but given a chance, the cats will do it themselves. Leave a box lying around, and the cat will insert him- or herself nearly immediately. (Sorry - I had to. In seriousness, keep up the great work! ) And yes, your description fits my neutered male kitty like a well-chosen, high-quality box. He likes short cuddle sessions, is VERY playful and mischievous, and we have an extremely loving and strong bond.
I have a 3 year female and a 4 year male. Both are neutered. They’re both affectionate with differences. The male likes to be petted but not cuddled. The female likes both. The male isn’t the least interested in going outside or curious about what’s going on outside. The female is. She liked sitting on the back of the couch and looking out the window. When a door’s open, she’ll try to get out. The male doesn’t. She’s actually gotten out a few times but comes back after an hour or so.
I've only owned male cats and they've all been extremely loving. I just recently adopted a female cat and she is very aloof. She doesn't enjoy cuddling, lap time or petting at all. So I went and adopted a male friend for her. He is a lap cat and very loving. But whatever the fact is about my female, I am committed to loving her on her own terms.
my male cat used to absolutely L O V E dogs. he had a very specific sweet spot for my giant anatolian shepherd/komondor mix. drooled (literally) over him, cuddled, rubbed, cleaned. super curious and open to strangers as well, and an affectionate mess w me and my 2 female cats. after my dog passed last year- he now violently hates dogs, is weary of strangers, and only cuddles w me. i joke around that my cat lost his dog husband, but i honestly believe it. he's been grieving along w me.
My first kitty was a female, after she passed I was able to adopt two cats. I didn’t know anything about the differences, I just wanted a black cat and an orange tabby. God sent me straight to Second Chance animal adoption were I found a brother and sister from the same litter! The boy was orange tabby and the girl was black shorthair. They were named Peter Pan and Wendy! As soon as the foster mom put them in my arms Peter stood up and nibbled my nose then my ear, and Wendy just looked at me and I fell in love. I adopted them that same hour and a few days later, they came home with me. I’ve had them for almost 4 years and I adore them both. It is true, two kitties are better and they are both loving in their own ways. The one thing I wish I could have gotten 2 kitties the first time, but it wasn’t financially possible. I think God sent me these two to help heal the pain from losing my beautiful Princess (icon photo), she was regal in many ways. But these two kids are as middle class as you can get! It’s like having a panther and a tiger in one home. 😉😍🥰😊🐅🐈⬛
Princess was beautiful and I am sure her memory is a blessing. We lost our perfect boy a few months ago and have since adopted a male and female kitten. They are delightful, but we will always miss our beautiful boy.
I just got a male kitten & he’s definitely mischievous but so sweet lol I work so I have a play area set up for him when I’m gone & in a couple of hours he learned how to open it & get out. 😅 He was chilling by my pet camera when I looked in on him it shocked the hell outta me lol
I think I have never really cared if they are males or females. I have got one girl, the princess of our house, and three beautiful boys. At present I am trying to catch my tuxedo's outdoor stray friend, and there is a pregnant stray kitty in one of the rooms, so God knows how many cats I will have soon
I deeply loved my shy female Tuxedo who lived 21 years with me-she was gorgeous… My most affectionate, completely gentle, loving cat friend was a male Burmese-he was a great rat hunter, very outgoing and confident, but his most superb characteristic was he simply couldn’t get enough time snuggling, purring and enjoying close human contact and friendship-he was so lovely, such a brilliant friend :-) Have just adopted a 7 month old female stray-she’s so energetic and curious, not much interested in snuggles yet though…
It's because this video is spreading blatant misinformation. Everyone I know has said that males are far, far, far more affectionate than females. This is also especially true in my experience as well given that I've been around hundreds of cats. The boys are always much more sweet, affectionate and social, but the females are mostly aloof.
@@VanillaVictini Yeah, I have 2 female cats. One of them is just, eh, and my other one is like, GIMME LOVE GIMME LOVE! Then she is like, meh. Male cats are more affectionate. But they are also a bit mean.
We love our multiple female rescue kitties so much that they are truly considered family members and are very spoiled and cared for. 22 years of great loving times!
I tend to go with female cats (neutered). When roaming outside they will stick close to the home and return on mealtimes. Even so, like the males they will engage in fighting trespassing cats but are more cautious in general with traffic and strangers. I think the males (neutered) have a slight edge on sociability with other cats, dogs and humans. Like the video said they might be even more curious and this could get them into trouble like when they sneak into other houses. They are both incredible friends.
I’ve had both and love them all so much, but must admit, my senior male brown tabby is the most affectionate and emotionally connected to me of any creature of my entire life!😻❤️
Was it after he got older? I find my male kitten who’s still young doesn’t really react if he sees me crying. He’ll just look confused or go do his own thing lol
I've had female cats. They are different personalities, but neither of them ever did well with kittens we fostered. My male cats however were very social. My last male cat allowed kittens to "nurse". He loved it. He would purr until he drooled. He also loved to be held like a baby. Definitely a cuddle bug. My last cat was my first. A female. She cuddles with me, but isn't exactly the cuddle bug my boy was.
I have an 8 month old female rescue who was spayed at 10 weeks in her foster home, two weeks before I adopted her. She is the sweetest cat I've ever known. She never bites or scratches, always greets us at the door, cuddles up against us in bed and on the couch, plays fetch (with her spring, and yes she actually fetches it), and ALWAYS comes when called by her name (Aloo). She also has zero runaway tendencies but is very affectionate to guests who want to pet her. She is also super calm around other cats and dogs. There are a million other silly, funny, cute things about her too (she puts her whole body over her bowl when she drinks), she LOVES all her toys (wand, laser, mice, springs) and will lead me to the toy she wants to play with. I can't believe how I got THIS lucky. All my friends are obsessed with her.
I have both amale and female cats. But the male cat, which is older, sticks with me and Follows me everywhere. The female is younger, more standoffish and mischievous. And she also loves to hunt mice and rats. She also likes to bring me the dead rats. As presents I guess lol 😆.
Just the other day my biggest boy came home with a rat the size of a rabbit. Left it alive, but paralyzed. Had to take it out and put it out of its misery. I'm still not sure whether he brought it home for me, for himself (but got bored), or the young female cat he "raised".
@@Uhlersoth77 yeah, I've had to put down a couple of rats myself, because my female cat absolutely was torturing them. I felt so sorry for them I decided to finish it and put them out of misery.
My female cat did the same thing !! We don't have rats here, so she often brought me some dragonfly, lil lizard, butterfly or some grasshopper. And she put them in my bedroom 😭
My first cat is a male, 8 months later we adopted a female cat They love each other! The introduction tooked time like month, but it was worth it Now they are the best friends! They play, sleep and groom together! I feel a better person!
Many years of being a multiple cat person--boycats have always been more snuggly and affectionate. Girlcats are opnionated and only cuddle when *they* want to. Both are wonderful for different reasons. But yeah, mostly the opposite of what was said here.
In my experience I only partially agree with this video. I've had female cats my whole life and they've always grown to be quite aloof, including one I found as a newborn outside where I completely raised her and had to syringe feed her since she was so tiny. Despite being her mama, she grew to not really care much for me! All my female cats just liked to lounge and relax which is fine in its own. Two years ago I moved moved across country, left my cats at home with my parents to keep, and adopted my first male cat and WOW. The ENERGY. I almost thought something was wrong lol. He growled and hissed a lot while playing with his toys despite being fixed, and he was incredibly acrobatic. He also destroyed so much of the furniture. He rather play than eat, and even learned the word 'play' where he would become super excited. The one unique characteristic I never experienced in cats until him was the affection. He was incredibly affectionate and the biggest cuddler and purr machine. My chest was his bed every night and he was so overwhelmed with happiness that he would drool so much while making biscuits. He's incredibly energetic, but the most affectionate kitty I ever had. I love all my cats, but he probably is my favorite, honestly. Because of him I think I'll stick to male cats for a while!
I got both a male (Demian 2 years old) and a female (Jody 7 years old), and I can confirm, Jody is a lot more bonded to people, specially me, she always tries to sleep in my desk while I work or study, and gets really sad whenever i have to leave for college, but she is really territorial, and will hiss at any neighbour cat that gets too close. Demian on the other hand, (like his name implies) is a little demon of mischief, he always tries to jump on tables and counters that he knows he isn't allowed to, he always hangs out outside with our dog, and is generally more happy around my mom (cuz she treats him like a baby lol), but he also is a lot more loyal, whenever someone is interscting with him, and they have to leave to do something (either the bathroom, go outside, etc) he will start screaming almosr as if he is calling them back, he needs to be close to someone at all times. They are a lot like siblings, Jody clearly is the dominant cat of the house, while Demian tries his best to sometimes play with her with less than possitive results (generallt ends up on them running arrlund the houde with Jody hissing at Demian), it may be because of their age difference, but still, even after that, they do seem to care for eachother, with Jody sometimes smelling and licking Demian to clean him, while Demian always tries to be close to Jody and imitate her actions to be like her. They are my entire world, I love them so much, whenever I come home I just see Demian rush arround the yard or the front door to greet me along my dog (Mario), and Jody is generally chilling in the living room or my desk and her eyes light up whenever she sees me arrive, I love them so much.
Read many interesting comments here after watching the video. I have had cats for 65 years (!) and have had cuddly snugglebugs of both sexes. To me a cat really makes a house a home! My last 2 females have actually been the most affectionate of all the cats I've had and both were extremely attached to me; we just seemed to understand each other! Both were talkative and would greet me if I came in the room or caught their eye, would follow me around or sit and gaze lovingly at me from across the room if I was seated. Most of the time they would be on my lap or lying down close to me if I sat down though, purring. Still miss both my "babies." Had to have the second one put down recently at age 18. The other little female lived to age 21. (Owned them one after the other.) Rest in peace, Spotty and Miette! You are missed and will never be forgotten! Dave's wife
I definitely like the 2 boy cats my family had in the past (RIP) than the female my brother has. I’m so glad he moved and took her. They were friendlier and more affectionate. They also were raised with a small dog and it was funny to watch how he adopted some of their behaviors and vice versa.
Every cat I’ve had until recently was female. Always independent & never liked to cuddle. My male cats live to cuddle, so friendly and are the best cats ever.
All of our family cats were male. Maybe it was their way of expressing their gratitude for having been saved from a shelter but they were extremely affectionate, calm and friendly. My aunt had two female cats and they were feisty. When I get the chance to adopt a cat again I would prefer to have a boy
I grew up with 4 cats all male. the older two were rescues from a shelter cat that gave birth so they spent their entire lives as indoor cats and definitely were escape artists (we tried putting them on leashes once to give them a compromise but they escaped those too… as well as their flea collars) the shelter had them neutered and they were two of the biggest cuddle bugs (rivaled only by one of my other two cats I’m about to mention) and both of them loved to show affection with licking, one of them so much so that he’d put his paw on whatever part of you he was licking and without missing a beat would lightly bring out his claws to keep you captive to his love if you tried to pull away. now my other two boys. both of them were originally outdoor cats, the first of which was completely feral. we had a whole flock of feral cats near my house growing up but none of them had ever approached us or let us interact with them until this little runt the size of a peach and we knew we had to take him in before winter (he never grew to be too big he’s less than a foot and a half long and gets confused for a kitten at age 16). we knew the two older cats (it’s a 2 year age difference between the pairs) wouldn’t take well to the new addition and he’d be extra nervous in the new environment so we rescued him a friend born in a barn to keep him company. now both these boys were originally outdoor cats and I can count on one hand the amount of times the two of them combined have even attempted to leave the house. the first time mr feral permakitten left he immediately ran under the garbage can and just started crying and shaking. he’s only been out once since and almost immediately walked himself right back in the second he realized he’d touched pavement. we got these two neutered as soon as we possibly could and they turned into the biggest cuddle monster and attention whore you’d ever see. the cuddle monster must be as close as possible to you at all times that you are sitting or laying down. he WILL come up on your chest and he WILL knead his claws into your neck purring the whole time. meanwhile the other little boy would constantly beg for attention. he was the only one of my boys that wouldn’t cuddle but he’d get his pets even if he had to do it himself. you just stick your hand out and he’ll rub his face on the fingers then run his whole body under the palm. when looking for attention if you didn’t have an “automatic petter” readily available he’d simply paw at you until you did and similar to the licker would begin to lightly bring out the claws if necessary. I loved my four boys to pieces they were some of the most affectionate animals I’ve ever had and will forever be the reason I’ll prefer male cats to female (also the only cat to ever bite me in a more than playful way was a female) also my sister’s neutered male cat only accepts physical affection in the form of spanks
I have two females, and my older one is very territorial, it was one of the hardests things on my life to make she accept the other female when I adopted. But they are good friends now and its true they are really affectionate and love cuddling
I 'snuggle trained' our Lombardi, he was a ginger & one of the most snuggly babies, he LOVED to lay ON me for his naps, but was EXTREMELY playful & like a little toddler, he was into everything but he certainly knew hot to turn on the charm when he knew he was 'caught in the act' :) We lost him last fall so are adopting littermates who are one each male & female. Yes, we'll be getting them fixed & we also have a 16 yr. old male that we'll be introducing them to SLOWLY :)
it really does depend! my female cat is the one to greet me at the door, being curious, playful and independent, whereas my male cat just wants to cuddle all day
Sitting here watching with my female cat, Nikki curled on my lap. She "chose" me, so the adoption was easy. Even the humane shelter employee saw how quickly she decided I was the one! 😍 As for our 9 1/2 years!! together... she definitely has two personalities... CUDDLE and BITCH! 🤣 Sometimes I play it safe, and I hide under the bed! 🤣😂🤣
I was convinced I was getting a female kitten. I went to see them, I was sitting on the floor and this kitten came and sat on my lap, I was chosen. It was a boy, didn't have a choice NOT to take him home.
I grew up with male and female cats and didn't really get attached to one until I was 14. He was a male and I was his human. I've had 2 females and 3 males since he passed, yet both females were standoffish and more finicky, preferring my boyfriend at the time/now husband over me while the males are the exact opposite. Extremely affectionate and loud talkative cuddly babies. Maybe it was just the cats personality, but from experience it seems I don't get along with female cats.
We already had a senior male cat n a young female dog when my husband brought a young female cat home. She blended into the household seamlessly. However last summer he brought a male kitten home n her sweet friendly personality completely changed. She’s calmed down some in the last couple of months but I worry our sweet girl will never fully return. 😢 Everyone except her is fixed. Would having her spayed help with her hateful hostile behavior towards him? He is such a sweet, friendly n lovable little cat so it hurts my heart that she still feels so upset over the addition.
I think getting her spayed would definitely help, before I got one of my females spayed she'd almost like scream when you'd try to pick her up sometimes and she was super mean mostly to a specific female, and after we got her spayed she normally loves being held and pet and she purrs a lot more and she's much more well behaved with the other cats
@@mysticthehorselover5979 I am glad she is doing so much better now. Hearing that gives me hope ours will improve. Bella literally would scream like a banshee when she saw Romeo n still tries to run when held if she sees or hears him coming. We just want our once happy sweet cat to no longer be stressed or upset. Hopefully we can get her spayed soon. 🙏🏻
We've always had a small colony that helps keep pests under control at the farm. Queens rule the den but makes protect everyone. For the most part. Stray toms have caused problems in the past if they snuck up on females with young kittens, but the colony always came to the queens defense and all had intricate relationships and bonds.
We’ve had a barn cat pride before too. They were mostly feral but they weren’t terrified of us. They just kind of had nothing to do with us. It was impressive how well they dealt with mice.
I have a male orange white tabby. He's a big and tall cat weighing about 25 pounds. In the summer I leave a window open so, he can come and go as he pleases. Last year he vanished for 9 days, then came home at about 6:30 am. He started meowing. I was happy to see him. I thought he was dead. So far, this year, He comes home every night.
The UTI'S in males is a very real and expensive dilemma. Years ago my Jonathan (orange tabby) had to be widened and 30 years ago it was expensive, it would be an astronomical procedure now. I've had mostly females since and found them to be the cuddliest and most affectionate of the genders.
my cat is a female and she is the total apposite. she doesnt like to be cuddled or held at all, although she sometimes will pass through our legs or lick our arms. she is very active too and loves to play games and run around, very explorative. her way of showing affection is different, she stays is a close distance when she is on a good mood and maybe lets you pet her.
my poor lady kitty has had to deal with so much change. The first time we moved was a disaster. She went from being a happy normal kitty to being terrified and always hiding. But she came around. And then we moved to CANADA... on a ROAD TRIP... and this kitty camped out with us in tents, in our car, in hotels... she was forced to get used to change, and she became a travelling kitty. She now adjusts SO WELL. I'm so proud of my lil Poo. Luckily she's been in a stable single environment for about 5 years now, and we have no plans to move soon.
Three cats are too many. Four cats, you are turning into crazy cat lady status (for which there is an official club that you can join and receive a certificate for).
It kind of depends, both my males actually seem to pick on the females so you could maybe get 2 males and a female, my males actually seem to like each other best, or if you want to make sure they don't gang up on the female you could get 2 females and a male, but also if you're getting unfixed cats males should be cheaper to neuter, I know that's not a super big deal, but it just depends
I had 3 female kittens from the same litter years ago! They were hard work, but great fun! They loved each other and lived to be 18, 20 & 21 respectively, so they are a life time commitment whether you are rich or poor, healthy or sick, but worth every day of it! Good luck with finding the right gang for you! 🐈
I have two female cats and they are always roughhousing and wanting to play. They are both very affectionate but also always greet me at the door when i get home. :] One of my cats also really likes talking walks outside and being outside in general. They are both indoor but I try to take her out as much as possible. I love my cats and wouldn't trade them for the world. The most important thing to do when adopting a cat is to spend some time with them, and make sure you get a good idea of what their personality is like before you bring them home. All cats are divine creatures though
I think males and females like attention almost equally, but it seems like males like being pet more. I have 3 females, 2 are fixed and we're getting the other spayed in 2 days. She's sometimes a lap cat but if you put her in your lap she won't stay. It's basically the same with the other 2. I have 2 neutered males and one of them is very attached to me. He's a huge lap cat and likes sitting on us a lot and I've had him for almost 10 years, we got him when he was a kitten. The other one isn't way too much of a lap cat, he just all of a sudden sometimes wants to sit in laps, he did that today, he hasn't sat on a lap in forever. He loves coming up to you to be pet. I don't mind too much if I have a male or female but I kind of prefer males, they sometimes seem to be more friendly.
I have to say that I have in the past half a year got a female cat. She was a little nutcase during the first few months. Had her spayed and she has become unbelievably affectionate. Couldn't have had a more drastic change of character.
If you're looking to adopt a cat, let us know your preference (male or female). If you already have a cat, let us know if these generalizations apply to your feline friend! 🐈💙🐈💗
All cats are equal in my opinion.
You are joking I have 5 castrated males and 2 spayed females and it's the females who are the fruitcakes.
female, indoor ,friendly (non-spicy), and fluffy longhaired. my dream cat
A spayed female and neutered male both are awesome pets Our girl and boy are very affectionate in their own ways.
My 51 year experience with cats I have found neutered males to be far calmer and more affectionate than spayed females. My girl cats were cuddly but ONLY when they felt like it but the boys always seemed to want to be held.
We have an neutered male british cat and he never ever cuddles. At best he sitz beside one of us..sometimes.
Same experiences with my cats.
She has the temperament of a Doberman though always watching and on guard, only shows affection to me and sleeps in my bed at night, I’m the youngest girl in the house my poor mum doesn’t get a look in.
thank you for your input! very interesting.
YES...ALIENS!!🙀😹😽
i have a male and female cat. they’ve known each other for about 5 years, but they still barely tolerate each other! it’s upsetting because i’ve had the female one for around 11 years and the boy bullies her.
My first cat was male, and he was a cuddlebug of big proportions. The sweetest thing. But only towards me. He never warmed up to anyone else.
My male kitty sleeps with me under the sheets, his sister... does too. They're so snuggly.
My female never warmed up to another person either. She is a hider and stays hidden long after company leaves.
My first cat was male too
I got my cat based on him being the oldest cat at the shelter.
Surprised they listened to you
Wonderful happy ending🐯

They competed for my lap and my cuddles.
my grandma has both a male and female cat
the female one is antisocial while scratchy (the male one) befriended a wild cat once
he was actually seen as the big alpha of the area, the horse and the sheeps respected him
i used to play aggressive with my ex wifes kitten, grew up to be a vicious little bugger had to get her put down in the end,the cat that is
@@Blobby192 😂😂
the biggest difference between my male and female cat is that the male always has a distant derpy look that says no thoughts just vibes and the female has a very expressive glance that is more focused and sensitive.
Your observation literally just sum the difference between them, which I hadn’t been able to put in words before 😂
No thoughts, just vibes... XD
And the male is more mischievous
That's the complete opposite of my cats this proves that all cats are different
@@kindasoupie
The kitties in our lives know our emotions better than we do. Please know that you are worth living. Obviously your kitty knew this.
Made me cry. Animals are incredibly smart, wonderful, thankful and loving creatures.
I always find my male cats are usually more friendly and affectionate than my females, but yes, I agree that males are DEFINITELY more inquisitive and mischievous, two of my males are continuously getting into trouble! LOL. But I don't care, I still love them!😻❤🐈
Haha, at least trouble keeps life interesting. 😹😹
@@ThePurringJournal I agree!! I always appreciate an animal with a bit of "spunk"!!! LOL🙀
Yeah my males also seem more friendly than my females, and one of them is actually well behaved, the other is quite mischievous lol
@@poppymac8873 they really are! 😊
Awww that’s so sweet
I'm sorry for your losses but it sounds like you gave them purrfect lives. 🐈💙🐈💗
Awwww
you need a nother cat just do it.
You can put a litter tray in an elevated position, where it's easier for you to handle - that works fine.
(I take it off when she is inside for the night.)
I have only so many safe bends per day now.... and my grabber can help with small food dishes but it’s chancy.
I've had a bunch of cats in my lifetime and it was always the males that were the most affectionate.
my male cats are more affectionate, i have had some loving females too but the boys usually seem to want to be held more. i mean my boys demand to be held often lol
Same for me, my female cats are more aloof.
I have only had two male cats. Tore my heart out when they passed in 2016 and 2018.
Yeah, my household has a "no don't touch me!" female cat, one snuggle obsessed female cat, one "Hug boy" male cat (he loves being held) and one "calm, cool and collected" male cat that likes to escape outside.

My boys are very affectionate. They sleep cuddled up to me & love to lay on my lap. The girls are affectionate but not as much as the boys.
Same way with mine
How are female cats smarter? What sort of tricks do they learn? Just curious about it never owned a cat
Totally agree with your video, I also noticed that females will usually bond with a female (woman/girl) in the household its an odd thing and yeah once that happens she will not accept another cat cheerfully/at all!
My first cat was a female she was always near meowing showing her belly and just constantly meowing happily
She died of old age?
They are definitely like little lions that way. The females are fierce hunters, males are a bit more playful and silly in general.
@@Finraenthe comment below you just proved your analysis is right lol
"The short answer is yes. The long answer is it's complicated" made me giggle XD
A very nice summary of both genders. Male and female pairs complimenting each other seems to be the common pairing in my experience. My first cat was a very territorial female and my second cat is what you call an escape artist XD but he's very cuddly and affectionate.
Complement. One cat completes another. So comple...
Idk how you can have so many cats and not feel their loss when they are gone

My most affectionate cat is a big male named goose!
Is your big cat orange and/or a Maine Coon? Main Coins are the largest cat breed and are particularly affectionate. Orange cats are also more affectionate than other fur colors.
My cat is named Goose as well. Super laid back and cuddly orange boy
I’ve had a number of cats over the years and except for the statement on size, I’ve found the exact opposite to be true regarding behavior.
Me too!
Me too. I grew up with a female, she wasn’t touchy at all and did rarely come to get a cuddle. My two boys on the other hand come and sleep on top of me every night 😂
Same, my girl is an escape artist… also is very social. My boy isn’t that social but very sweet.
Sounds like your female was the dominant one. Always coming out on top.
It's for their own well-being and safety 😸
Thank you for this, I never knew male cats had a shorter urethra, I would have thought it was the other way around. Always learn from your videos! 😊
Smaller not shorter. I’m sure that means the diameter of a male’s urethra is smaller than the female’s.
@@SunflowerOfTheEast Ah, I didn't catch that part. Thank you for clarifying!

I got both a brother and sister from the same litter. I love them both. The male is definitely much more affectionate.
Really the biggest difference are what health complications they’ll experience because of their birth-sex (like male cats being more prone to urinary tract issues like bladder crystals and kidney problems than female cats, and like clockwork affecting a male cat around age 3-5 years)
@@anonymousfellow8879
You have a point there.

I had a Calico for 19 years and she gave me more love and comfort than any person has. We were best friends and I miss her
I've only owned male cats and they've all been extremely loving. I just recently adopted a female cat and she is very aloof. She doesn't enjoy cuddling, lap time or petting at all. So I went and adopted a male friend for her. He is a lap cat and very loving. But whatever the fact is about my female, I am committed to
loving her on her own terms.
its my male cat that is most prone to want cuddles, and is also by far the most tolerant of other cats and people.
my male cat used to absolutely L O V E dogs. he had a very specific sweet spot for my giant anatolian shepherd/komondor mix. drooled (literally) over him, cuddled, rubbed, cleaned. super curious and open to strangers as well, and an affectionate mess w me and my 2 female cats. after my dog passed last year- he now violently hates dogs, is weary of strangers, and only cuddles w me. i joke around that my cat lost his dog husband, but i honestly believe it. he's been grieving along w me.
It's because this video is spreading blatant misinformation. Everyone I know has said that males are far, far, far more affectionate than females. This is also especially true in my experience as well given that I've been around hundreds of cats. The boys are always much more sweet, affectionate and social, but the females are mostly aloof.

They are both incredible friends.
my male (not fixed but working on it) roams and doesn’t fight cause he’s all bark no bite. but he does return when it’s meal time or time to sleep
My female cat that I used to have also brought me dead mice. 😆 Lol.
Yup, they love to leave "gifts!" 😹
Just the other day my biggest boy came home with a rat the size of a rabbit. Left it alive, but paralyzed. Had to take it out and put it out of its misery.
I'm still not sure whether he brought it home for me, for himself (but got bored), or the young female cat he "raised".
@@Uhlersoth77 yeah, I've had to put down a couple of rats myself, because my female cat absolutely was torturing them. I felt so sorry for them I decided to finish it and put them out of misery.

Many years of being a multiple cat person--boycats have always been more snuggly and affectionate. Girlcats are opnionated and only cuddle when *they* want to. Both are wonderful for different reasons. But yeah, mostly the opposite of what was said here.
This may be a stupid question but are the boy cats more affectionate to anyone/ does the gender of the owner have any affect?

Same!!
I loved my four boys to pieces they were some of the most affectionate animals I’ve ever had and will forever be the reason I’ll prefer male cats to female (also the only cat to ever bite me in a more than playful way was a female)
also my sister’s neutered male cat only accepts physical affection in the form of spanks
I have two females, and my older one is very territorial, it was one of the hardests things on my life to make she accept the other female when I adopted.
But they are good friends now and its true they are really affectionate and love cuddling
That's great news that they learned to get along. 🐈💗🐈💗
My male cat is way more affectionate than my female but the female is more adventurous.
it really does depend! my female cat is the one to greet me at the door, being curious, playful and independent, whereas my male cat just wants to cuddle all day
ive had cats all my life, and in my experience male cats were always the most affectionate x
You don’t choose the cat, the cat chooses you.
Sitting here watching with my female cat, Nikki curled on my lap. She "chose" me, so the adoption was easy. Even the humane shelter employee saw how quickly she decided I was the one! 😍
As for our 9 1/2 years!! together... she definitely has two personalities...
CUDDLE and BITCH! 🤣
Sometimes I play it safe, and I hide under the bed! 🤣😂🤣
I have 3 boys and 2 girls.. all from the same mother. Love them so much ,each with one personality. Cant live without their love!!
There is a misconception about "choosing a cat", no no no, YOU do not choose the cat, the CAT chooses YOU.
I was convinced I was getting a female kitten. I went to see them, I was sitting on the floor and this kitten came and sat on my lap, I was chosen. It was a boy, didn't have a choice NOT to take him home.
I have 3 male Canadian sphynx cats! They are very affectionate, needy and always up my personal bubble!
My male cat is like my shadow ! He nevers leave my side .. My female always wants attention when she's not sleeping ❤
Hello Jeneen how’s the weather over there
We've always had a small colony that helps keep pests under control at the farm.
With me, my male kitties have been more affectionate and vocal than most of the females.
I love all kitties :)
my poor lady kitty has had to deal with so much change.
I have a question: I decided that I will adopt new kittens soon, and I can take good care for 3 cats! What gender combination will be okay?
Three cats are too many. Four cats, you are turning into crazy cat lady status (for which there is an official club that you can join and receive a certificate for).
It kind of depends, both my males actually seem to pick on the females so you could maybe get 2 males and a female, my males actually seem to like each other best, or if you want to make sure they don't gang up on the female you could get 2 females and a male, but also if you're getting unfixed cats males should be cheaper to neuter, I know that's not a super big deal, but it just depends
@@PurrfectlyTabby I have 5 cats, I had 6 two years ago, guess I'm a crazy cat lady then, I'm fine with being called that lol
@@mysticthehorselover5979 alright, thanks for answering my question!
