Historical Sri Ganegoda Devalayas were added to this sacred place which was a Bhikku Aramaya from ancient times. Confirming this, the ancients attributed the formation of the word "Ganegoda" to the land where the "Ganinnansela" lived. Since the reign of King Parakramabahu VI, the two historic Sri Ganegoda Devalaya has been developed to its present state through the generous contribution of the devotees of the 7 villages belonging to the Devalaya. Both houses have a long history dating back to the 15th century or the 'Kingdoms of Kotte' era. Also, the Maha Gammadu Festival is held annually for several days in a grand manner while preserving the endangered local traditions.
Driving distance between Depanama Sri Ganegoda Devalaya, Devala Road, Pannipitiya, Sri Lanka to Weragala, Sri Lanka is 23.0 Km. Pattini (Sinhalese: පත්තිනි දෙවියෝ, lit. 'Pattiṉi Teviyō', Tamil: கண்ணகி அம்மன், lit. 'Kaṇṇaki Am'man'), is considered a guardian deity of Sri Lanka in Sri Lankan Buddhism and Sinhalese folklore. She is also worshipped by Sri Lankan Tamil Hindus by the name of Kannaki Amman. She is considered the patron goddess of fertility and health- particularly protection against smallpox, which is referred to as deviyange ledé ('the divine affliction') in the Sinhala language. Devol madu shanthikarmaya, also known as the gammaduwa, is a tradition that invokes the blessings of the goddess Pattini-known to both Buddhists and Hindus as the goddess of fertility and health.
A cultural tribute to guardian deities (Carved to heal)
The beautifully decorated Dewala premises, devotees clad in white with flower offerings and the two playful baby elephants were all blissful sights. The cultural pageant, diverse and vivacious in all aspects was about to unfold. Then there were us, awaiting to explore, to witness what would become a memory that will always be fondly cherished. The Dolos Gara Netuma-a cultural dance featuring the 12 phases of the Gara Yaka (a mythical creature in Sri Lankan folklore) marked the finale of the Narthana Pooja. The Gara Yaka Dance is performed symbolizing the purification of the premises from was-dos (evil spirits).
දළු මුර පූජාව
දළු මුර යනු බුලත් ය. මෙහිදී දෙවියන් වෙනුවෙන් දළුමුර ද, පඬුරු හා මල් පූජා කිරිමත් සිදුකරනු ලබයි. පුද වට්ටියට බුලත්, පුවක් කිනිති, කපුරු, මල්, හඳුන්කූරු, පිණි දිය, පඬුරු ආදිය අඩංගු වන අතර එක් එක් දෙවිවරුන්ගේ මල්යහන්වලට ඒවා පූජා කර ආරාධනා කිරීමක් කරන අතර, මල් යහන් ඉදිරිපිට කුඩා පද කොට්ඨාස සහිත නර්තන ඉදිරිපත් කරන්නේ කවි ගායනාවලට ප්‍රධාන තැන ලබා දෙන බැවිනි.
යහන් දැක්ම (යහන් දැකීම)
දෙවොල් මඩු යාගයේ ඇදහිලි විශ්වාස හා සබැඳි සුවිශේෂ නර්තන අංගයක් ලෙස යහන්දැක්ම හැඳින්විය හැකිය. දෙවොල් මඩුවේ පුද ලබන සෑම දේව කොට්ඨාසයකටම යහන, පත්තිනි තොරණට වඩිනා ලෙස ආරාධනා කරමින් යහන්දැක්ම නර්තනය කෙරේ. මාතර සම්ප්‍රදායේ යහන් දැක්ම භාවිතයේ නොමැති වුව ද බෙන්තර හා රයිගම් සම්ප්‍රදායේ යහන් දැක්ම සුවිශේෂ කොට නර්තනය කරයි. සුදු අත් දිග බැනියම්, සුදු සේල ඇද ඉන පච්ච වඩමකින් වෙලනු ලැබේ. හිසට සුදු ලේන්සුවක් ගැට ගසයි. බෙන්තර සම්ප්‍රදායේ පපුවට සුවිශේෂී ආභරණයක් පළඳිනු ලැබේ. දෙවියන්ගේ නාමයට ආශිර්වාද කවි ගායනා කොට යහන් දැක්ම පුරනු ලැබේ. සියලු කපු පත්තිනිවරුන් ද සියලු බෙර වාදක ශිල්පීන් ද මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වේ. භක්තිමත් විලාසයෙන් වැඳුම් අත් සහිතව නර්තනයේ යෙදේ. විලම්භ, මධ්‍ය, දෘත යන ලය මානයන්ට අනුව නර්තනය ඉදිරිපත් කරන අතර සෑම ලය මානයකටම වැඳුම් අතක් නර්තනය කරයි. අලංකාර ගමන් මාත්‍රා සහිත නර්තනයකි. අවසානයේ යහනට වැඳ නර්තනය හමාර කරයි.
