I think they will fight with Redbull towards the end of the season for sure. It is a completely new concept which they are still understanding. I read a few articles that some problems they are facing right now (such as Low speed corner rotation) are just down to the setup. Once they figure out the setup plus bring more upgrades. They will be there!
Fans underestimated Ferrari during winter break and they have came out with an amazing car. I personally think during the course of season they will close that gap to Redbull and will be fighting for the wins. They just need to understand this whole new concept. Will they be fighting for championship against Max? That'll be tough because Max + Redbull are just in another league. But I never thought I would say this but Ferrari is operationally so much better than Mercedes right now.
It wasn't mostly fans that underestimated Ferrari, it was the classic British media that has been hating Ferrari for 30+ years because they dominated the sport. Every time Ferrari makes a mistake they will talk about it forever, but when British teams or drivers mess up they don't say anything.
I really get the feeling that Aston Martin better understand their car this year. Their first upgrades will show us if that is indeed the case, but so far the adjustments they made in these two races have shown positive results.
Mercs are actually struggling in high speed corners, they were one of the fastest ones on straight lines in Jeddah. The car had little control with that ‘V’ shaped - in the middle - rear wing, but they switched back after, I believe FP2, to the flat one which added more stability in straight lines.

Amazing video! I really hope that the ferrari upgrades work and they’re able to challenge Red Bull for wins. They seem to have done a lot of work and have improved a lot, so I have hope that maybe they will continue to be really good.
It would be interesting to see an in depth video about the fundamental flaws or area's of improvement for the teams that are emerging due to the costcap. For instance, McLaren does well in correlation and design but they haven't managed to deliver the actual parts on time. Mercedes on the other hand produce at a fast pace but lack the in correlation, as in that the predicted performance in simulation doesn't hold true in real life application of the designs, ect.
Not sold on McLaren and their trajectory yet. I still believe Mercedes needs the first quarter of the year just to get their heads around this new concept. Once they figure it out they will be always inching closer to Ferrari. No one will be challenging Max and Redbul this year. Sergio will have to keep an eye in his mirrors but not Max... Let's see how Aston upgrade with all their facilities and personnel finally in place. They're not far from Ferrari over a single lap with Alonso in the seat anyway...
Dude even Ferrari is light years away in the long run. And it seems like Ferrari knows how to improve the car last year it was about fixing the car this year they look like they know how to make steps with that car. Leclerc looks happy Vasseur looks happy. Watch F1 becoming even more boring with having not only alot of Redbull 1-2 finishes we will have also alot of Ferrari 3-4s. The good thing in Aston's case is that it's not a core issue. Performance efficiency on high fuel was a problem Ferrari faced last year and they solved it. So Aston indeed has a precedent to look upto and take notes. On the other hand their Quali pace is spectacular and I think Alonso will be a menace to Mclarens and Mercedes for P4-P8 in most races. Only a Mclaren 2023 like turnaround by Aston can save this season. Because Unlike Lando Nowins, Alonso can actually take the fight to the front
Interesting point about Ferrari is IIRC they were as low as 4th by about June last year so they’ll have more opportunities for wind tunnel and CFD work.
Merc is bringing an update...in 2026. They are still clueless, LH figured that out, hence his move. RB and Max are in a different league unfortunately but hopefully Ferrari and Mclaren can try to pinch a race win sometime this year.

If Mclaren ever expects to rival Ferrari or RedBull they need to start meeeting timelines I don’t know how they expect to win anything when they are consistently behind where they should be.
What Ferrari needs to do before Imola is to have both cars in top 4 at every race. Then hopefully (god, please) the upgrades will put us at a level with Redbull.
If Carlos returns for Australia then maybe, but Bearman will not make top 4 in the next tracks that he has never driven (Australia, Suzuka, China, Miami)
I am hopeful about Aston Martin's chances this year. I think they have a very good base platform. They've improved the high speed a lot and reduced drag. And it seems it's a car that alonso feels confident in pushing in qualifying. When has Aston ever been able to keep pace with Redbull and Ferrari in quali? So this is a very fast car, at least in his hands, it just needs to improve the low speed and tyre management a bit (both of which Aston knows how to do as we saw last year) and hopefully with a few upgrades everything just clicks. You can tell that the Aston is inferior to Redbull by watching max and Fernando's final q3 runs onboard... and yet alonso was the closest to max after first two sectors. Only 0.1s down..incredible driving skill from him. then lost 0.2 to Redbull in straights. Aston will get there. And I am expecting Australia to be a good track for them - qualifying at least.

Aston problem really in the tyres,but because they cant bring temperature in the tyres with heavy car. Just like in Jeddah Alonso and Stroll was struggling with the cold tyres and of course with cold tyres you will be pretty slow. Around at half tank or race start the car working and end of 20 lap Aston fast as competitors. If is would be tyre deg ,then Alonso couldn't go so much lap and keep behind Russell.

The RB19 concept was at a ceiling per RB so I doubt the other teams running RB19 copies will find much more from them. RB on the other hand have moved the game on where they will find significant time especially seeing as they brought very little in upgrades last year and have been working on the RB20 for many more months than everyone else and will bring big upgrades. Plus we still know they have not shown the full pace potential of any of their cars.

Mercedes biggest issues started when Nikki passed. It’s progressively gotten worse from there.

As much as I like Andrea Stella being upfront, its getting very annoying now hearing the same thing every start of the season. Why can't they ever reach their targets of their winter development ever? It most certainly will hamper their chances of securing p2/p3 in the constructors
I’m not exactly sure why this keeps happening to them. If you can’t start the season extremely competitive then you lose a lot of development time

What Ferrari needs to do before Imola is to have both cars in top 4 at every race. Then hopefully (god, please) the upgrades will put us at a level with Redbull.
If Carlos returns for Australia then maybe, but Bearman will not make top 4 in the next tracks that he has never driven (Australia, Suzuka, China, Miami)

I am hopeful about Aston Martin's chances this year. I think they have a very good base platform. They've improved the high speed a lot and reduced drag. And it seems it's a car that alonso feels confident in pushing in qualifying. When has Aston ever been able to keep pace with Redbull and Ferrari in quali? So this is a very fast car, at least in his hands, it just needs to improve the low speed and tyre management a bit (both of which Aston knows how to do as we saw last year) and hopefully with a few upgrades everything just clicks.
You can tell that the Aston is inferior to Redbull by watching max and Fernando's final q3 runs onboard... and yet alonso was the closest to max after first two sectors. Only 0.1s down..incredible driving skill from him. then lost 0.2 to Redbull in straights.
Aston will get there. And I am expecting Australia to be a good track for them - qualifying at least.

I dont know where(reddit?) you was take the information,that Aston have high tire deg with heavy car,but is not true at all! Aston problem really in the tyres,but because they cant bring temperature in the tyres with heavy car. Just like in Jeddah Alonso and Stroll was struggling with the cold tyres and of course with cold tyres you will be pretty slow. Around at half tank or race start the car working and end of 20 lap Aston fast as competitors. If is would be tyre deg ,then Alonso couldn't go so much lap and keep behind Russell.

The RB19 concept was at a ceiling per RB so I doubt the other teams running RB19 copies will find much more from them. RB on the other hand have moved the game on where they will find significant time especially seeing as they brought very little in upgrades last year and have been working on the RB20 for many more months than everyone else and will bring big upgrades. Plus we still know they have not shown the full pace potential of any of their cars.
