- From the plaque at the entrance of the Angel of Hope Memorial Garden in Eau Claire, Wisconsin:
“The shape of the garden was designed to resemble hands in prayer. Its focal point is the Angel of Hope statue.
The original Angel of Hope, as written about in the Christmas Box Story, was inspired by the author Richard Paul Evans in Salt Lake City, Utah. This simple story has helped many parents who have suffered the loss of a child.
If the lack of our loved one’s presence and the grief from this loss has taught us anything, it’s that we are what love made us. Accordingly, it is the mission of this Memorial Garden to provide inspiration, healing and enlightenment.
Our hope, we are reminded from the angel’s outstretched arms, is that someday our mourning will become less about grieving, and more about loving. Loving a loved one who has passed on, loving yourself to go on with your life, and finally, loving life to accept its eternal gift that this love lasts forever.
Until then, may we all find shelter within these praying hands and comfort in the truth, that
OF ALL THE VIRTUES, LOVE IS THE GREATEST. “
