I love 2:30, because Evan knows he screwed up big time, and he doesn't know how to face this giant lie and the nightmare behind his fairytale, and he just screams that he wants out, and it's so emotional.
You can see both sides of the story, the people he's hurt along the way, and you can see the scared kid who just wanted to be seen.

Funny enough, before my friend stabbed me in the back I just liked this song.

What I enjoy most about this play is that is is so relatable to so many people because no character is unflawed but they're all good people who you root for. It shows you that you don't have to be perfect for people to care about you.
Because what's a modern musical without a fall from grace.

Honestly I know this is supposed to be his anxieties talking to him but he deserves this. Evan lied about being a dead kids friend, forged words from him and enjoyed the attention he got because of it. He only started to crack when ALANA started noticing inconsistencies. Even a Jared tried to tell him not to go this far. He is 100% at fault here and I couldn’t blame any of these characters to actually do this to Evan. I have a social anxiety disorder, I have adhd, I have chronic depression. I would never lie like Evan did even with my tramas and bullying. And if I was Connor, I’d hope someone didn’t do it to me.

she says the word "trapped" sarcastically, because 1. these aren't the real people, it's evan imagining them, and 2. there wasn't really anything too bad about his situation and yet he wanted to escape it anyway.
She got dragged along the show. She was touched by the Connor project and supported their cause and movement. When she found out it was fake, she felt like she was dragged along.
In Heidi's case, they had a fight before this song started. Evan said he'd rather be with another family because that family thinks of him as their son, and they don't look at him the way she "does", which is someone who has "something wrong with him" and needs treatment and medicine for his anxiety. He basically said it was suffocating to live in that kind of place.
Evan's mother's name was Heidi
Alana didn’t know he was lying Jared did. That why Jared says he was used. She thinks evans wrong that maybe he didn’t actually talk to him because she sees inconsistencies. Evan tells the Murphy’s about how his moms busy and about how he needs scholarships because he can’t afford college. Not only is this in his head but she would be 100% valid. He lied and told secrets he shouldn’t have and now she feels like a terrible mother because she can’t be the Murphy’s

Context? I've never seen the musical, so all I know is that Evan seriously fucked up somewhere. Heidi sounds like a mother, and I know Jared is Evan's friend from the Sincerely Me animatics, but who's Alana? Also, what d i d Evan do?

Heidi knows that Evan has abandoned her and spends time with the Murphys because he considers them his new family. Also, she now believes that Evan was not satisfied with his previous family conditions (having a single, working parent) and enjoys the comfort and “normal” family lifestyle of the Murphys.
Alana is more upset for having been unknowingly dragged into this lie that could, and eventually, will hurt the Murphy’s more than if they had known the truth from the beginning.
Jared feels like he’s been “played” by Evan; the two have had a falling out, but Jared is unable to disassociate himself from Evan because of how he helped him write the emails.
