I like the scoring system idea, I cannot use it as is. There is not real judging done on it. I would like to see it be more realistic, and not throw a number based on how you “feel” about it. One point was added for each tuning feature. That would tell you exactly how they stack up. One point reduced for every 1/4” of reflex. One point reduced for every 1/8” variance of specs length specs. One point for every tenth off spec on weight. One point for every FPS low. So one for everything. Thanks for the efforts, I am trying to be constructive, at this point I still have to come up with my own score, and it Varys if done exactly the same on each bow.
No matter what happens with Bear, no one will ever be fair and put them in the same class as other companies. Sturdy bow for what they are meant for. I know the way you test its even and fair but in the end it's your opinion and i respect that. Great review. Thanks Josh
Good work, appreciate the 28” speed and the 2nd chronograph. I think these are the best non biased bow reviews. And I can still develop my own opinion w your data.
@@bearhug72no one carries them. I bought 2 athens and 5 weeks later they folded…. People want stability from a company and knowing they will be around is important. Im done buying the smaller names. I took a bath investing in Athens. Never again. Hoyt for me
Thank you for putting in all the effort to test these for us. THAT SAID, would be nice if you stated letoff or set to a consistent off as that makes a difference in feel and speed. Maybe test set letoff and actual. I know some manufacturers fudge that too. THANK YOU AGAIN!!
Great review. As much hate as they get I still love my Persist. Thanks for doing the 28" test as well. Im 70lbs, 28" 465 grain at 282fps on the original Persist with custom strings.
Thank you for this effort and all your tuning videos. You are my #1 archery source when i buy online. You explain what the bow is doing and why. I constantly try new things and you make the adventure fun.
He’s doing 30 and 28, and already takes quite a bit of time. He also explained an inch is about 10 fps. He doesn’t need to show every speed for every DL and arrow weight, he would be there for days 😂
I like the new scoring system. Like the new 650 arrows and the speed difference between draw lengths. Dont listen to the haters, one chrono will work just fine. Great review but not a bow I’ll be looking at for that price
I like the new process! I would however like to see some tested at the longest draw length especially the bows designed for long draw archers. I have a 32” draw and i never see anyone test the bows at that length or even close to it. I really like you testing 650gr arrows and they should be tested at the longer draw as well.
I have a Bear Whitetail legend Pro. Same cam as this one, only I payed $500 at my local shop. If I ever get a flagship bow, I’ll probably have a bias towards Bear because of how much I like my current bow. I wonder if Bear will capture a larger portion of the flagship market in the future due to people with similar experiences.
I think it’s great and just like all things, the first time is always gonna be awkward trying to find a rhythm and honestly having an extra Crono kinda gives the same people complaining about your old one more fuel about it not being correct or the same so forget them because they will never be satisfied because they can’t test bows every year, all year. Keep doing what you do and try not to change too much!
Thanks for sharing. I love the new grading scale and the new 28 inch speeds with a nice hunting weight shaft. It makes more sense to show those speeds on an average hunting rig. It don’t really matter how fast it shoots a blow dart when no one is hunting with blow darts. Reminds me of the old overdraw days when everyone was chasing 300 FPS.. thanks again sir and keep up the great work. Dale.
Love the new scoring system. Only thing I’d say, it’s more practical to show decibel levels at the typical hunting arrow weight. Comparing 450 grain readings seems to be more educational.
I enjoyed the arrow weights myself. I liked seeing how much trajectory was lost 😆 I've bee. Watching you for years. Very solid mfjj! I like the new process
New process is fine, I just ignore the opinion stuff. Double chronograph is nice, but you should have used the lab radar as well just to troll people. I like the 650 arrow, because I just use a ke calculator anyways
it is 340, i think he accidentally read the 350 grain arrow, instead of saying 340 fps. he said it was within 10, which is true for a 340 IBO, not for 350. so i think he just misspoke
I would like an MFJJ opinion on speed regardless of what is advertised. Like: for a 6.2” brace, relatively smooth draw,… this bow is slow/fast/middle of the road.
The new system is definitely more thorough and I completely agree with being more critical to leave room for expansion. An active spreadsheet on the website is a perfect addition to have for this testing and acknowledging that scores can change as you continue to tweak the testing is the way to go. Leave the arrow weights as is, adding the 28" 450g speed on top of the others gives everyone the information they need to make a pretty accurate estimation for their own particular setups. I give Bear the benefit of the doubt and think the asking price of $1250 is fair, but I completely agree that it would be a much better seller at the $1000-$1100 mark. As much as I want to see Bear keep growing, I don't think the flagship market is something they should put stock in. They have a huge chunk of the mid-low tier market and that is where they should focus their growth on. Looking forward to the new testing and seeing where the new bows stack up! Appreciate all the time and effort that goes into these, as do many many other shooters!
The current problem with Bear is that they have no true tuning system to throw on their top end bows. Thats where the seperation amongst brands is IMO. Even the Mathews top hats are a step up.
I like this, though it is your perspective, it’s still good for viewers and shoppers to have some idea of what these bow can do before purchasing one👍🏽
as someone who has a 31-inch draw length it would be nice to see what is available for 25. so far I'm looking at the exalt or this so I'm just waiting to see all options available
Once again the Bear will get left in the dust… great bow this year. If it was $1000 it would be a serious contender. Unfortunately they don’t have the following the other big names do. Such a shame. I wonder if Cabelas will carry this model. Would love to try one out.
What you are doing is awesome !! But with the scoring you should do a end of season match up with all the other bows and which one would be a better pick as a hunting bow
I think you did a great job and in my opinion, bear is doing good with their stuff but they’re a long way from a Hoyt or Mathews but good for them hope they still make improvements and keep up with those bows for people that want to get into archery can wait for more reviews of the new bows
Not only are you the only one doing a good review on bows you're the only one doing honest reviews. I don't even consider purchasing a bow till I watch your reviews first as a good start point. Thanks for the content and keep it up
Speed is claimed at 340fps. You put that mark by the arrow weight category lmao.
Love this new scoring, please repeat the Elite Exalt 35 under this test ❤😊

Great bow but for the price like he said you can get a Mathews or a Hoyt which in many peoples opinion are better.
340 rated IBO, so close as I have seen on your channel.
I love how we're already getting 2025 bows but Josh still hasn't chosen a 2024 bow or released tuning videos on them 😂
New system is great. Seeing the 450 at 28in which happens to be what I shoot is awesome
Good work, appreciate the 28” speed and the 2nd chronograph. I think these are the best non biased bow reviews. And I can still develop my own opinion w your data.
Waiting for Matthews, Hoyt, and bowtech bow now. I wanna buy a 2025 flag ship!
Martin Firecat...

I like the new format! The bear Alaskan xt is still the best bow they make at its current price and specs
wish you do the 550 as well so its every 100 grains up to the bone breaking arrow
Thank you for putting in all the effort to test these for us. THAT SAID, would be nice if you stated letoff or set to a consistent off as that makes a difference in feel and speed. Maybe test set letoff and actual. I know some manufacturers fudge that too. THANK YOU AGAIN!!
letoff setting also effect draw length slightly

Please keep using the 650 grain and 550 grain arrow. Also if a bow goes out to 31” could you please show speeds for that as well?
What did he say about 650 as bone breaking arrows ?
He’s doing 30 and 28, and already takes quite a bit of time. He also explained an inch is about 10 fps. He doesn’t need to show every speed for every DL and arrow weight, he would be there for days 😂

My $500 Alaskan has been such a fantastic (and lethal) bow, I'd absolutely look at Bear's flagships now. That wasn't the case a few years back.
They won't need to with such a bow for the $....!!
Awesome, well thought out reviewing system. I appreciate the time involved and look forward to hearing how the rest of the years bows stack up!

I like the new process. But with the decimal meter so far away I’m curious if you’re picking up the bow noise or the arrow noise?
Wow, great reviews this year! New scoring system, no hand scale, some additional tests. Great job with this new approach!
Scoring ata and brace is tough as that’s easily able to be changed with a couple twist. This now easily does 33 and 6 1/4 on both.
I do like that Bear offers 55-70lb draw range. Not sure why others don’t do that.
I enjoyed the arrow weights myself. I liked seeing how much trajectory was lost 😆

you do the most comprehensive test out there on all new bow models and feels like you are unbiased as well. keep up the good work man! appreciate you!
The bow is it a 340 ibo bow or 350?
You marked it down and said 340 in the beginning of the video.

Thanks for doing the 28 inch draw with the 450!
seems like a great bow bear has been doing great since the Kuma IMO
Love the hard work and great insite on all you do!!!
The 28" is great to see. Thx. All else is much improved as well
Last year the bear was quieter and faster than the mathews and hoyt metal frame from everything I saw and this one seems to be pretty close
draw length should be from the web of the grip to noching point
The new test protocol is great and a spread sheet to keep track is even better. Keep it up
Can you redo the Elite Exult 35 using that way?
Can you provide a link to the spreadsheet on the website?

well done and tempting but can't wait to see what the other brands with better tunability come out with
I'm so happy your now using the Garmin.
Fantastic review! Keep up the great work.
Rating is 340 not 350 FPS
He knows that, he just said the wrong number. He said it was within 10 fps right after he said it was rated 350 fps.
Thank you so much for doing the 28 in at 4:50. That's pretty much around what my setup is or close enough. They give me a great idea. Thank you

Just out of curiosity, shouldn’t the ATA be measured from the outside of one axle to the inside of the other OR center to center?
Center to center. But you can measure top to top and it will be the same.
New system is great. Very interested to see the flagships from Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech etc on this new review process.
YAY...yes, please do the same bows from the big 3 over and over 🤮
