LYRICS
All my life
Been hustlin
And
tonight is my appraisal
Cause I'm a hooker sellin’ songs
And my pimp's a record label
This world is full of demons
Stocks & bonds & bible traders
So I do the deed
Get up and leave
A climber and a sadist
Are you ready for the sequel
Ain’t ready for the latest
In the garden of evil
I’m gonna be the greatest
In a golden cathedral
I’ll be praying for the faithless
And if you lose, boo hoo
Hey look ma I made it
Hey look ma I made it
Everything’s coming up aces, aces
If it’s a dream don’t wake me (don’t wake me)
Hey look ma I made it
Friends are happy for me
Or they’re honeysuckle phonies
They celebrate my medals
Or they wanna take my trophies
Some are loyal soldiers
While these other thorns are rosy
And if you never know who you can trust
Then trust me, you’ll be lonely oh
Are you ready for the sequel
Ain’t ready for the latest
In the garden of evil
I’m gonna be the greatest
In a golden cathedral
I’ll be praying for the faithless
And if you lose, boo hoo
Hey look ma I made it
Hey look ma I made it
Everything’s coming up aces, aces
If it’s a dream don’t wake me (don’t wake me)
Hey look ma I made it
Mama best believe it
Mama best believe it
Think I must be dreamin’
Wide awake and dreamin’
Good to see that the sparkly suits are still here
Hope Him and that gold jacket
yesss
It really is
Hi, Hope
Ahem

_WHAT DO I DO_
Jill Stephenson good fucking question honestly
Jill Stephenson that’s a good question I listened to the whole album
Jill Stephenson
I’m Trying to memorize all the lyrics to all the songs before July 27th (concert in Going To) I’m pretty sure I will because I heard the song “time to dance” and I memorized it in a day so I think I can but there are so many songs to memorize!!
Stop being a drama queen for a start... SMH
Gabriel Azevedo jeez, I was making a joke. Stop being so high strung if you're gonna criticize people.
"And if you never know who you can trust
, then trust me, you’ll be lonely" what a phrase, and so true as well
this is unrelated to ur comment but just as I got to this comment, that part of the song was playing (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

@@elliottlupin Ok Facts Lady
This phrase needs to be in a textbook/doctrine somewhere.
/cue long personal story anecdote
I just had to come to terms with this happening to me in real life, when I had a terrifying weekend. 9 months of quarantined mental health made me a little animated/loud (absolutely no threats or violence, never have) - and too much internet made me terrified of exactly what this song is talking about looking back at me (big brother type shit is best I can describe). I'm nobody important and have no platform, so I was super confused when my devices (and algorithms) were acting indescribably weird. I started panicking and just wanted someone to sit down and look at the shit with me, make it make sense, ya know.
Turns out, most everyone who claimed to care about me literally just kept trying to convince my boyfriend to leave and get me in the back of a cop car on a one-way ticket to God only knows what kind of hell on earth Psych hospital.
We went to his Dad's house to feel safe and quiet - since I had mildly disturbed the neighbors with some shouting - and his mother decided that wasn't an acceptable level of control on the situation, so she called the cops on me... while I was napping.
I'm going to go ahead and say now - since I know you're wondering - my boyfriend and I are adults in our LATE 20s. We live on our own in an apartment, work, he has a degree and I'm in school. We're not kids to need handled when we get scared, we're adults, and NOBODY wanted to truly help.
BFs Mom is having lunch with him right now. I already told him I love him and just want him to be happy - so I understand she's going to try and convince him to leave me. I can predict that because I'm not crazy, deaf, dumb, blind, or fucking stupid. I "lost my mind" and now everyone I know is lying to me left and right until they successfully fabricate themselves an easy explanation and everything goes 'back to normal.' Seriously, high-school never ends.
Found out that I couldn't trust quite a few of the people in my life when shit hit the fan, and almost had to end my relationship when I told him I simply can't live in a world full of people who are going to treat my voice, my thoughts, my entire being as some kind of a truly dismissible basket case whenever I mention something they don't already easily understand.
"You don't want to listen to me, fine. Stop listening. Wait - who called the fucking cops!? No I'm not going, I live here! Because I'M acting stupid and crazy!? You're all suddenly refusing to look at Netflix and google out of concern that I'm... wrong? What the actual fuck."
Never felt lonelier in my entire life. Like grab my shoes and just start walking to the end of the earth levels of lonely. Feels bad man. This world is in for a VERY rude awakening - coming from people a whole hell of a lot scarier than a short-white girl having 'hysterics' about it. lol
As an ex heroin addict, I can’t watch this video enough. Especially him ignoring his families calls. My god, if I had a dollar for every time I ignored my sisters concerned texts or calls, I’d by as rich as Brendan.

This is the kind of genuine gratitude for fame mixed with bitterness towards the industry that only that cheeky mf Brendon Urie can pull off. I'm so hyped for this album!
africkso, Why u hyped, it's already out
africkso Ed Sheeran's Eraser talks about the same things, albeit in a different way
Honestly
OMG Shane Dawson was totally right!!!!!!!
well alright then
I understand why everyone’s worried about Brendon from the way he portrays the industry in the video, but I don’t think that’s the point. In many interviews he’s said that he and his band never really experienced pressure from the label, but he witness people who had. If anything this video is probably more of a warning to upcoming musicians than some kind of cry for help.
And literally they wouldn't let him make this video if it WAS a cry for help. Like.... chill, guys. He's good lmao
An Acoustic Guitar HAHAHAH SO TRUE OMG
well as i said to someone else, they allowed 21 pilot's nico and the niners, which blatantly hates on the general amount of record labels/the music industry itself. And they were fine with it. (i mean unless they didnt understand but I dont think thats the case). Fueled by ramen is actually a pretty chill record label compared to others, like Queen's. Almost didnt let out bohemian rhapsody... my god what would we have done without that amazing song.
Anyways, yeah. Theyre not silencing him, he's had no problems.
Yeah, I think it’s just how he’s proud of leaving his old life behind and becoming a better person. I’m not exactly sure tho.
It shows all the crap musicians have to go through because of the music industry
This song is for my mom, I graduated in 5-26-2022 from High School, because my mom didn't have the same experience walking up that stage because of her bad parents, but I am thankful for my Mom&Dad support for letting me walk in that stage and letting me continue with my education by going to college ❤️

DeAnna Juan I know, blimey
DeAnna Juan because of the ending of this (Brendon puppet gets thrown on to the old members puppets, specifically Ryan Ross and Brent Wilson) I think it's the end of Panic now, which in the intro of the album is like "To the old, and to the new. We dedicate this song to you." So what if it's the end?

Bless this album. There seems to be a running theme about fame not appearing the way it actually is, and is most evident here, in Silver Lining, Dying in LA, Roaring 20s, One of the Drunks, and kind of King of the Clouds. High Hopes is a nice juxtaposition because of it's optimism, but wow. This album (and not just the individual songs, as they usually are) is incredibly well thought-out.
I was wondering when someone was going to make the next Mesmerize (System of a Down). I don't like these guys and I don't like this album, but I respect the theme they set forth.
Megalo the Scrub I love SOAD and P!ATD
Honestly, I just got this album on vinyl and I already love every song but king of the clouds is my favorite besides the beat of this song.
The Someawesome maybe it’s him saying something about the contracts singers have to sign and how they can’t do what they want but they end up doing things that the shouldn’t do
This is such a happy and sad song all at once.
thewinterizzy my sister and other people and yeah keep shai g this is what song is doing to him and others like BTS which is true if you think about it he always has bags under his eyes
thewinterizzy ikr
This comment summarizes the entire Panic! At the Disco discography and the band itself!
thewinterizzy but truth...and they want more money..just to use the artist and toss them aside unless they produce.
Exactly, the song is lovely and upbeat but the video breaks my heart, I pray I pray that that’s not what he’s gone through
I became a psychologist by end of 2019, I would always listen to this song while driving back home from university. It's been 2 years since, and oh boy, I've accomplished things I never thought I would. I cried while listening to it now, it's pretty awesome to say "Hey look Ma, I made it (actually way more than I thought I would)!!!!"
It’s weird cause when you listen to the song on it’s own it’s really uplifting, but when you watch the music video, the whole idea of ‘making it’ seems ironic, as it reveals what becoming a Hollywood star is actually about (in some cases). Good job Brendon, good job.
lucy talbot look up the lyrics. The chorus is the record lable covering everything up and the actual lyrics is the truth. Its about singers being a slave to record labels
Just casually listening to it while paying attention to the road make it uplifting.

Catchy song with a really... really... deep meaning. Shows how corrupt the music industry is and the very end sent shivers down my spine, how all artists are puppets for the people in charge of them and once they aren’t popular anymore they’ll get thrown out and replaced.

At the beginning I was thinking “well nice another weird music video” but at the end I realized what the video meant and how deep it was. This really does represent the music industry

What turning into a muppet only to be strangled later in life by your human self? Man must’ve been a hell of a fight for John Cena.
So does that mean...maybe thats one reason Kurt Cobain killed himself? Like in this song there is a lyric about being a hooker and selling music, and in Heart shaped box i think its about unwanted pregnancy..? Hmmm maybe thats a similar reason he hated life. 2 things i wish to say:
1) Rest in peace Kurt, I'll miss you
And
2) Brendon, stay strong. Your a good boyo

@@oliviafitch759 Very correct.
I really like the video. It makes the lyrics more ironic. It sings “Hey look Ma, I made it!” All while showing him being controlled and turning to a life of drugs and alcohol. In the end it shows him getting better and realizing he shouldn’t be a puppet. After cleaning up and eventually becoming himself, he wakes up on stage and his puppet is thrown out because he’s no longer controlled by media, as well as other stars. Then the lyrics start to really mean something.
Apollo The Great Oh I thought it was like the puppet was thrown out to say that everyone in the entertainment industry just gets thrown away after they(idk companies?) r done with them

one of the other songs in this album 'dying in la' also talks about 'these issues', the whole hollywood, music ,slave contract type of thing? shook and worried but i kinda think he's more trying to spread an overall message about the industry, rather than a personal "help me" type of situation. hopefully ;(
Ashley Peak slave contracts are as old as the music industry itself. Unfortunately manypeople succumbed to it in the past.
Ashley Peak eh he’s fine, don’t read into it too much
Ashley Peak if he is implying that he’s a corporate puppet then I’d prefer he didn’t do music I’ve heard so much about artists being used and forced to do outrageous things
Awkwar d and how do you know he's fine? You don't know what's happening to him. Maybe he's not fine, and this is a cry for help or a overall message about Hollywood and how evil it is.
The industry is a fucked up place, and that’s essentially what they do. They sign a contract, are treated like puppets, constantly influenced by their record labels to do certain things and once they’ve “made it” they get thrown out and the record label finds another person to make them money. With the lyrics heard from this album and this song specifically, the words back this up a lot. One line that I always come back to is ‘in a garden of evil, I’m going to be the greatest’. In my family, we know and research a lot about the fucked up music industry and the evil stuff behind it and I’m right there with you; this is just an overall message about the music industry and how every starving artist feels, but it’s also very very possible he feels the same way (like some lyrics in the album lead me to believe)

as an Ex-crack user, I used to play this song when I would use. Today I can say I am 4 years sober and have newfound perspective and appreciation of this song! Love you brenden from Argentina 🇦🇷!!!
Ex crack and heroin here
To me, this song isn't about "Hey look Ma, I made it, I'm famous now"
It's "hey, look Ma, I made it. I'm ok now"
I recently went through a dark time in my life and truly the person hurt most by it all was my mother. She just wants to protect me from the hardships of life.
Things will get better, and when they do, I'll go to my mother and tell her,
"Hey look Ma, I made it"
I feel the same way about the meaning of the title. To me, the video shows his journey into the world of a drug addict and back out again. Then, he's letting his mom know he made it to adulthood and is okay.
I'm currently a sophomore in high school. I watch this video, and it makes me think I'm going to go down the same path as him, addicted to drugs and alcohol. Except that I'm not going to come back from it like he did. And that scares the HELL out of me.
@@kileyhuff5469 oh, that went even sadder quickly. but there`s at least one random person on the internet who believes that you can get out of that crap, so I wish good luck and patience to you!
lordingersoll To me i see it as him pretending to be okay so that his mother doesn’t worry. He’s going down this terrible path but doesn’t want his mother to worry. I see it more as “hey ma I don’t want you to worry so like I’m okay” I also see where you’re coming from. All in all it’s a beautiful song and music video

Absolutely. All of Panic!'s music does as does any song Brendon has collaborated on or covered. If yiu are ever anxious or stressed listen to anything Brendon sings on and you will be happier and calmer.
I feel like Brendon was talking about slave contracts now the Shane’s last conspiracy video made more sense
Klara oh my gods yes i know right
I mean, even without Shane's video, this is a tale as old as time. This is how the industry has been for decades -- it's not a secret. Even without slave contracts, this is how it goes. This didn't even get as sinister as slave contracts. But still really important for a still-famous musician to point this out. ...to tell the story of an industry he's been a part of for way too long and has seen some deep dark shit.
I mean la devotee also kinda hinted that already
Klara omg that's literally what i just commented wow.
yeah..
This band went from emo, and rock to pop. Dang :D
to be fair Brendon Urie is more a solo artist than a band but as a band they did prefer constantly evolving the sound thats why two of the members left, they preferred sticking to one sound.
"Hey look ma i made it" yeah they are not emo now :D
My homie this isn't pop this is called swing.
he said he is thinking of making a metal album
also why did you put a sad face going from emo to pop should be fun
Before Brendon: mama said don't give up
Now Brendon: hey look ma! I made it
Jannatin Adnin this song came out before high hopes
Shock Mobile no it didnt, this song came with the album, high hopes was released like 3 months before
Whos brendon
@@kdfinvesting6122 em.. are u ok bro? especially if u dk who brendon is man 😂
U stupid this came out before high hopes I remember listening to this before high hopes came out
Love this song. So influential 🤩
Wauw, if you think about it, it's pretty deep..
You want to become famous so you sign the first contract and so you become the puppet of your manager
Damn I didn't even think of that
But like where's the lie
Omg it’s like that kpop conspiracy
wow, so deep...
That's what I was thinking, but more along the lines of being a puppet of the illuminati
I live for the little dance he does at 0:55
I live for EVERYTHING he does lol
"Mama said don’t give up"
"Hey look ma I made it"
We weren’t ready for the sequel
@I don’t have a name we weren’t ready for the greatest
Well he asked but it was too late
ignore the video.. it's a positive song
brendon: **becomes a puppet**
brendon: 👁👄👁
Ling Ling don’t you get it? He’s been a puppet the whole time
Stop RUINING THE DAMNED JOKE
😂guys stop ur gonna kill me with these comments😂😂🤣🤣😭😭😭☠️
Ling Ling hahahahha
Literally your profile pic.
At 0:37 brendon says "are you ready for the sequel? Ain't ready for the latest" I think it means that Pray for the wicked is his second album as the only member of panic! And it probably won't be his last
i hope💞
btw, gr8 picture
Júlia Egydio Felicissimo g o o d
Júlia Egydio Felicissimo YASS GOD I HOPE
Well no as Death Of A Bachelor was produced with Dallon Weekes wasn't it?
If you think about it, it's pretty dark. He gets famous, he gets wrapped up in drugs and babes, and just as he turns himself around, he gets tossed out. The puppet is a metaphore for how most of the musical artists that get signed up for a record deal are just "puppets" and get tossed out after they're not needed, btw for those who didn't already know.
Hunter Turnage literally everyone got it smartass
@@tanviowo Yeah; you don't know whether they meant it rude or not. I didn't pay attention to the music video until the end and these comments that explain this basically summed it all up for me.
So thank you @Hunter Turnage
@@tanviowo hey I didn't know about it so shut up
Thanks
Shut up, your ICON is a puppetfor Yuiq'i sake
It's crazy, how many people come back to this everyday. This song is legendary
High Hopes: Mama said dont give up
*Hey Look Ma I Made It*
Brendon... always listen to your mom
that's what i thought XD
XD
High hopes: don’t give up
This song: I Made It!
she says school i say shoot.
@Aria Badger YESS
oh my gosh, THIS MUSIC IS SO GOOD AAAAAA ♡♡♡
arabella or aramoobla panic! doesn’t do anything under good, let’s be real here!!!
Emily Smith of course! brandon and the band is.. AWESOME
I remember thinking, "God no, I hate puppets!" "I hope this isn't stupid."
Now I'm sitting here contemplating how deep this video is. I'm definitely in shock.
same.
Yeah, didn't expect that ending😵
I know right?! The minute the puppet started to hang out with hookers and do drugs, I knew shit was getting real.
I was caught completely off guard by the ending. It makes you wonder who the other puppets are.
Ikr
IM GOING TO HIS CONCERT RIGHT NOW IM SO EXCITED TO HEAR THIS SONGG
I wish Brendon Urie would show up in my mirror and tell me to get ahold of myself
Hanging With Gabby omg same. He could reach through my mirror and strangle me anytime
Oh that happens to me aaaallll the time, wish I could make it stop now
Hanging With Gabby
Same
Me too
Don't we all lol
This just made me rethink everything about these celebrities who seem like real jerks maybe they’re just going through A WHOLE LOT...
And you better believe that
Omg yall match @posyonose
The sad effect of becoming a celebrity is that you’ll be exposed to the dark side of the entertainment industry.
It really makes me afraid to become famous.
U are just jealous just jealous shameful
I never thought I'd see a puppet doing cocaine
Well I never thought I'd see one being fucked by two dominatrices
Erin you should see Avenue Q if you semi-enjoyed it...? Puppets having sex, cursing, living through student loans and racism. It’s a lot but GOOD
Awkwar d What. In. The. Holy. Fucks.
david dobrik had an elmo do cocaine djgdksbsjs
Disco Tits by Tove Lo.
*If you never know who you can trust, then trust me, you'll be lonely*
That line... is beautiful
it's so relatable
"How many vomit scenes with puppets would you like?"
Brendon Urie: "yes."
XD
I almost threw up and it’s great
Love you Brendon ❤
Same
Other Panic members: Would you like you're puppet to snort cocaine or flour?
Brendon: yes
I love Brendon dearly, but I draw the line at puppet vomit. 😆😆😆
Would have been nice to have a vomit warning certainly lol
Or the kinky puppet sex 😬
Not the puppet using drugs or making out with a person ? Or like? Any of it omg this video I swear
Sherlock Sixx Most definitely 😅
Rito 22 Sadly I didn't have a problem with that 😉😂
This video is extremely powerful. I hope people aren't just listening and are watching the video and paying attention.
InClarity yeah hat was deep as hell wow
ariana sulia indeed
yeah it really is
Broooo ..... this was a masterpiece in hindsight
Current mood: strangling my muppet self on the other side of the mirror
Kylie: I got the biggest lips
Brendon the puppet: hold my cocaine
Arwa Zahid underrated comment
🤣
thought that was gonna say "hold my cocaine"
The puppet is the amazing beebo
That muppet must have an incredible lip game.
