@@nonamenosurname6103 True, but I like this one too Although I still can't believe not that many people know about the 1927 version, it's a masterpiece
This is not an actor..This is Napoleon himself who somehow escaped from St. Helena, somehow found the Fountain of Youth, and somehow managed to pass himself as an actor and lived on through the 20th century !
IMO, Daniel Mesguich is the best incarnation of Napoléon by an actor physically (too bad he has not blue/grey eyes!) but also in the way he plays it. Danièle Lebrun, as Joséphine, was great too. I saw this mini serie when i was a child, and it was the beginning of my interest in Napoléon...
He is certainly the best looking Napoléon, but he is all too soft in his general attitude. Not that Napoleon didn't have a gentle and agreeable demeanor in his private life, but yet.....
@@vHumboldt77 Well, it changes to the usual representation of a short, nervous man... :-) In fact, it is hard to have an idea of how he was, even after reading many memoirs of his contemporaries. Some said he spoke with a deep voice and short cuting sentences, other that he talked softly and was not showing off when he was in society. So, it depended of the situation. Besides, in other scenes of this mini serie, Daniel Mesguich plays Napoléon with more nervousness.
What actors! Many from Comedie Francais if I recall correctly....of all the serials shown in Sweden these last 30 years, American and Swedish and English and German and and and...this is STILL number one! The last episode I had recorded on video but lost it...and that was the best one! Bohooo...thanks a MILLION for this!
This is one of the best tv series ever. The first episode so thrilling and the last episode sad but touching. The actors are of Platinum Class. Real, true actors. ❤️
Yes, I saw him just in another film ( Jefferson in Paris ) where he played Mesmer. Of course I liked his acting - I watched this serie 30 years ago... - not only his incredible resemblance to Napoleone :)

THIS is the best look of Napoleon I've ever seen in an acting role.
1927 was the best in my opinion.

Daniel Mesguich is one of the best looking Napoleon of the screen, if not the best one.

This is the First Guy who really looks like Napoléon
Daniel Mesguich, le meilleur interprète de Bonaparte pour moi et quelle ressemblance !! magnifique !!!
Anche Armande Assante e Marlon Brando.

Daniel Mesguich, un grand acteur et un professeur épatant !

+MrAwrsomeness Yes Daniel Mesguich is a great french Actor :)
I KNOW RIGHT?! Spot on. I can't stand when directors cast actors that don't look like the non-fictional people
they're portraying.

Le Bonaparte le plus credible a l'ecran.
Don't understand a thing they're saying, but the acting is so good it still conveys what is going on!

Incroyable Mesguich ! J'ai aimé ce feuilleton.

Il manquait que l'accent corse pour qu'il lui ressemble parfaitement (les yeux plus clairs, également).

I Agree with you Galerius :)...he is an amazing actor ! just a little bit unknown :(
