@Kuribohcoast the poetry was great 👍 for me, it was the way he literally has horns in my playthrough so everyone treated him poorly but he was always such a good person trying to do the right thing anyway. I enjoyed doing a redemption arc with him and thought he was really romantic, he didn't even want anything to do with the brothel/wanted to be completely monogamous which I liked tbh
I definitely don't understand the criticisms I've heard that Wyll is a boring character. I think he initially comes off as a bit of a boy scout but Theo injects so much into him as a character I just don't see him that way. He seems like a charismatic and kind person which naturally seems to bleed over into Wyll.
I for one think his "boy scout" persona is what makes him interesting, because it doesn't come cheap to him. Every time Wyll makes a moral choice, a choice to put the others before him, he suffers for it
I loved one of the dialogues shortly after meeting him, something along the lines of "He's a good guy, maybe the best among us". Really captures why he's an exceptional character, as you've said - being unrelentingly good in Baldur's Gate is a sure path to suffering.
Played as him in my group campaign! His personal story is one of my favs and Mizora is always fun to talk to. Also, Sorclock Wyll is SOOOOOO overpowered it’s insane!
Wyll is a criminally underrated character. And the view count on this video (compared to the other origin characters) reflects that. I was super set on my party composition before I got Wyll, then immediately made room to have him in the story when he appeared. Theo puts alot of passion into Wyll, and I wish others would realize that.
Spent the whole game with Shadowheart, Karlach, and Wyll. Love their stories *Spoilers* Wyll's offer to travel with Karlach to Avernus was so bittersweet. Two doomed souls heading willingly into hell to defeat devils and protect others damned by them. "You wont be alone anymore. And Zariel will never touch you, I swear it." In a group that is at first primarily concerned with their own troubles, Wyll and Karlach stand out.
Ugh that was such a beautiful ending. I romanced Lae'Zel but I really really really liked Wyll and Karlach. I hated that they were both going to suffer but the two of them together made so much sense. They feel like the perfect romance.
This is the one I've been waiting for! Theo absolutely smashed it, and he was stepping into big boots. I love how Wyll ended up and to have done such a great job in so little time!
@ajxx9987 Nothing, they just wanted to change the character direction to be a sort of british sounding upper class charming guy. Listen to some of the beta recordings, they still exist on youtube. He used AAVE before.
Theo's performance was incredible - he brought such a beautifully written character to life in one of the best games I've ever played. And now I have a new all-time favorite character.
There were a few things that made me go hmmm and this was the first. Near the end when Dan said he’d love to see him in another game cos he’d smash it felt odd. Theo weathered these with so so much grace. He really is a good guy
@@sarahrixon7627 I actually couldn't believe what I was hearing. I didn't watch the rest of the interview because this was so bad. Not sure how someone like this got the rights to interview the entire cast but hopefully someone caught this weird behavior.
Can tell Theo loved the romantic scenes! I hadn't gotten to having Wyll in my party yet and didnt know too much about the character, when he triggered one of his romance scenes with my character and Wyll was so incredibly compelling in that moment that I immediately kicked someone out and picked him up for my journey. Theo did an amazing job.
I broke up with Wyll [to exit pursued by a bear] and it was such a well acted scene from Theo that I felt guilty about it for the whole rest of the game
People complain Wyll is too much of a good guy, but thats the point. The guy is just selfless to the core and Theo made it feel real, not performative good guy.
Theo is incredible. I hate I don't see him as much as the other BG3 VA's on social media, like reading tweets and stuff. I'd REALLLYYYYY love to. He seems very chill and knowledgeable, just would love to hear more of his thoughts and see more sides of him 🥰❤
God, I wish I could do what they do. Not really in a place in my life where I could, because I have no way to be an actor or anything, no training, school takes so much money, but I sure wish I could. And I know I’m not the only one. And each interview I watch solidifies that wish more, y’know. Like, Theo is just incredibly relatable. Even the little things, the “getting obsessed,” the RuneScape and WoW, the needing a better computer before he can get to BG3 (same!). I would love to meet him and the rest of the cast someday. Feel like could talk to him for ages about so much, especially those old shows and games we were so hooked on for so long! Love how connected he was to Wyll, too! Would be a dream to play a character like that, one you really clicked in with so well. We can tell, I find. Players and outside observers alike get drawn in by how much this cast really felt at home with their characters. It’s fantastic to just see new scenes every day on my feed, scenes that for all my searching of BG3 content, I’ve never seen before… and just feeling so present with the characters as they engage with new scenarios. All of what the cast put in shines through in this game, to me.
Wyll is easily one of the best characters. At first I wasn't big into having him in my party, but he turned out to be the only dude that didn't constantly try to bone me. Gale doesn't take no for an answer, Astarion seems like he'd spike my drink, and Halsin is the bear guy. Couple that with the fact that he's got some radass warlock spells meant I had to keep him.
I'm so glad Theo has a chance to do an interview! We see very little of him and he did excellent as Wyll! I prefer this over the original voice Wyll had.
Man all of these actors were great, I hope they all climb to higher places in the industry, I love all of them each and every actor and actress for Baldur’s Gate 3 did a superb job!
Theo's voice might not be as passionate and artistic like previous Wyll had, but honestly I feel like it resonates better with current Wyll, he has deeper and smoothier voice now, and the guy is just a bit more reserved as he was in that sense. I changed my mind regarding Wyll on my 2nd playthrough, he is decent character despite being somewhat cut for the sake of Karlach.
I think Wyll's story is made to compliment Karlach, and vice versa. They are unlikely allies both troubled by Zariel. And some scenes are really great how much Karlach admires Wyll. He's a good origin character to pick up for a first origin playthrough with strong ties to the main plot, and I look forward to seeing what differences I can make if I havce Wyll be more cooperative with Mizora.
Love Theo and love Wyll as a character. Currently romancing him and Theo's performance is just marvelous. Really ties together the whole Disney prince aspect of Wyll!
I'm the one who commented that Wyll is overly selfless and asked which relationship with another companion Theo likes best, and it made me happy to hear he likes Wyll's banter with Astarion... because I also enjoyed it in my playthroughs partially because Astarion's a good balance to how incredibly self-sacrificial Wyll can be! Thank you for conducting this interview and thank you to Theo Solomon for doing this! It sounds like Theo had to do so much work to get Wyll to be the great companion he is on such a tight schedule and it's fascinating to hear about the process.
At first I wasn't a big fan of the Wyll character because I thought he was just a straight-arrow boy scout but he ended up being my favorite character due to the interesting writing but mainly because this guy totally killed the voice acting. He did a such great job.
Thank you for this nice moment ! I love Wyll, and in general, I love the good guys. Some people think they're boring, I think they're amazing ! Great job Mister Solomon !!
I've been so excited to hear from Theo! Wyll is the most lovable kind of classic fantasy hero - kind, humble, principled and loyal. Even from very early on, the way he changes his mind about Karlach and defies Mizora to protect her shows the wonderful person he is. 🥰 He's one of my best friends in my current playthrough, and I can't wait to do his romance in the next one. Theo had a tough job stepping into a role someone else had already played, but he killed it!
If I had a horrible deal with a devil and the safety of an entire region of Faerûn hanging over my head, I'm thinking I might have a goblet in my hand a bit more often than may be comfortable for people who don't have those concerns.
Handsome and very likeable actor, he reminds me of Wyll a lot. Love the character, was in my party the entire game,, did his story, romance, etc. And a World of Warcraft player!
Only in Act 2 now, but Theo stands out as the most compelling voice for me - excellent delivery. Definitely dive into a playthrough on Twitch! I think that's a great way to get to know the voice actors better, and I definitely want to see more of that happening for voice acting casts generally. Even better would be if the voice actors got to guest or star in online tabletop play. The only problem is I'd want Matt Mercer to DM, but then who would play Minsc???
I always have Wyll in my party. With the way I naturally play, it makes it easier to get inspiration....So I usually have his reputation maxed by level six....The others are usually Karlach and Shadowheart, but Wyll is always there. He's the best friend in almost every play through. ❤
Theo does such a good job with Wyll. I thought he was nice enough and liked him and then the dance scene came and literally every playthrough it is physically difficult to turn him down bc he is so sincere and excited. I'm sorry Wyll!
Such a phenomenal voice actor! If you haven’t listened to the Koli series, I’d strongly suggest it! Well excited to see his new zombie film coming out soon, too!
