Good stuff thanks. Watching this shows me alot about what I'm doing with a slightly different carb. But exact same concept. Good video!

Thanks for the story. I didn't think to check the flatness of the internal surface. I can do that very easily. I also have a Metal lathe/milling machine to assist with any need to flatten the internal surfaces.
    Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for this video Russell. I'm working on a Bobcat 632 at the moment that has a Zenith Model 68 carb on it which I am having the same fuel dump issue after rebuilding the thing with new seals. My first attempt is going to be adjusting the float and checking for warping.

Good luck. Just make sure to feel for any grit in the fuel. Those metal float pins are pretty unforgiving if the fuel has any sand, rust or other debri.

Greetings from Ecuador, I am Luis Pacheco Sr. Russell Brarron, thank you for responding and helping me with my engine, in my country I found this very good Wisconsin engine, it has been stored for 8 years without turning on, I did maintenance and it works well, there are no spare parts in Ecuador . I want to change the magneto and contact points are giving problems. perform internal cleaning of the carburetor and it has jet wall packing problems, it consumes a lot of gasoline. I don't remember the number of the carburetor. on monday he sent you pictures of the carburettor open. I sent you an email with information about the motor Wisconsin Thank you very much for the help

That will stop the gasket from leaking however on the Model A Zenith if the float valve has a very slow leak fuel will still overfill the bowl and very slowly leak out of tall jet in the inlet and into the carb’s inlet. Only fix is the soft tipped needle valve and 5/8” float level. Even with these measures the aftermarket needle valves will often cause overflow in this manner. I’ve tried lapping in the steel jets several times to no avail. It’ll seem fixed but only slows the leak to where it’ll take several hours to overfill the bowl and start the leaking again.
    Very frustrating.

Iv got the same carb I believe, looks identical to yours only on the bottom of the bowl there is a weep hole where it is slowly but consistently dripping fuel out of. Maybe one drop every 15 seconds. I imagine the float is stuck? I thought about tapping it with a hammer to maybe free it? The engine runs just fine even with this leak. It’s mounted to an F4124 continental flat head. Your carb doesn’t appear to have this weep hole on the bottom of it where mine does. You have the little nub that sticks down from the bowl but yours looks to be casted over where mine has a brass weep hole at the bottom of it. Any clue of what’s going on here?

Sounds like float is sticking. A few things to check for, any debris in fuel. The float needle and/or seat is worn. Float is swamped (mo longer gloats)floats. Or carb body is warped/cracked.
I would check for debris first, as it is most common. It only takes one grain of schmutz to hold it open.

@@russellbarron6775 awesome thanks for your response. I’ll see if I can rinse it out with carb clean, or maybe flush it out if there by taking the bolt off the bottom of the bowl to see if it will flush the debris out. If not then it sounds like I’ll have to remove the carb from the engine and do a full clean/rebuild on it

Hey I’m working on a Zenith carburetor off a Wisconsin VH4D1 motor. It’s warped and the ventricle which goes inside the center hole doesn’t seat correctly. I took a flat stone to both sides and ventricle. How did it work out for you. It’s a customer’s. I’m going to order another carburetor. Nice video

Truth is, I ended up getting another cheapo import carb. The carb I got was less than the rebuild kit from Napa. It didn't quite fit perfectly, I had to change the studs and modify the manifold. But it sure as hell started and ran better. It was all of like 36 bucks for a brand new carb. yeah, I was leary about it actually working well, but it did.

Hey Joseph Is the Wisconsin vh4d1 a bobcat skid steer? If so I’m having issue with my carb too I’ve tried two new rebuild kits for the zenith but won’t stop pouring gas out the throat

Hey Ryan the engine was on a commercial leaf vac shredder. The original carburetor was warped so I purchased and installed another Zenith carburetor. It’s been running no issues. The old carburetors warp and will leak

Greetings from Ecuador, I liked your video, I have a carburetor of the same model in the video, I have a 2-cylinder Wisconsin THO model engine, I need a complete carburetor repair kit. Can you help with website or contact where I can get in the EEUU. Thanks for answering

I'll see where I can you to a source for a kit. The kits usually come with gaskets for several versions of the same carb.

Hey there Luis, do you have a model number off the old carburetor. i was looking up some different kits for you online to see if i can find anyone that would ship to you.
The kits go off of the carburetor number, usually stamped on the body of the carburetor somewhere. I bought a few kits for other models using Schebler, zenith or marvel carbs and they usually came with a few different gaskets for the bowl and different needle seats.
Even a picture of any numbers/stampings on the carb body would be helpfule.I will do what I can to try to help you get it going.

    • @russellbarron6775

Not onthis one. Ended up replacing the carb withy a cheap knock off, which had its own problems of the float hitting the float bowl and sticking. I have used this procedure on other carbs but it just didn't work well on this one. .Thanks.
