Because tipping culture is going completely crazy and more and more people refuse to or tip very little in general and that is a good thing. Uber eats also already charges a premium on the food and a delivery fee, paying a tip on top of that, especially based on a percentage like it is done in north america is crazy. Tipping is just a way for customers to pay the wages instead of the company and it has to stop.

    • @GigAcademyInc

@@GigAcademyIncBecause tipping is supposed to be a courtesy for good in person service, not a mandatory obligation in all circumstances. Neither receiving a delivery nor take out or over the counter service falls into that category imo and is simply not a tipping situation. Especially tipping by percantage makes absolutely no sense as serving a 100$ meal is exactly the same effort as serving a $10 dollar meal. I am a european living in canada.

As someone that does not live in the US, I don't tip on Uber eats/deliveroo. I am already paying a premium over the price of the items plus a delivery fee for the service. Why do I have to drop even more money? I don't get anything on top of my salary for doing my job, why do I have to do not for others? I usually tip at restaurants when the service is really good or when I am with a fairly big group

Here the drivers get paid better from the word go and know they probably won't get a tip instead of expecting one and then getting mad at the wrong people when they don't get one. The customer pays more for the item, pays for delivery, pays processing fees... and then you want them to also pay your wages on top? If your company isn't paying you enough that's the companies fault, not the customers.

That’s fine if you don’t tip but you will probably wait longer for your food in a lot of cases because a bunch of drivers will decline it before the companies finally add more money to the pay for that order.

Maybe because the cost of living has sky rocketed from what it was previous? Some people don't want to use uber eats or a delivery app because of how much extra they charge over going yourself. Some people are injured or crippled and rely on delivery services to help them out. And when you're tipping people "20%" then that adds up quickly. Let's see you order a delivery service 7+ times a week and tip $10+ on each delivery, and not complain about it.

I try not to use these services but sometimes my work schedule has me working 6am-8pm so there is no time to shop. If I ever order Uber eats, door dash or GrubHub I always pick a fast food place with 1-2 miles of my location and tip 8.00 min. Makes for expensive lunch but I figure if I were to take that 30-45 mins to go pickup the food myself and come back tipping them 8.00 plus whatever the service gives them puts them at around 20/hr. Again I try NOT to use the service because the whole experience is pricey but I look at it like those drivers are just trying to make a living like me. 😢

And personally speaking, it is not my responsebility, to take care, that you are payed. In germany there is a minimum wage, and if you want more, you need to to something for it... If you are employed under minimum wage, or illegally due to missing employment in the social security system and else, it was your decision to work, and there are good examples of people going around the system. In NewYork there is a guy, you can call him, and he will order the meals at the counter of each establishment.
