Do NOT bother with this AIRLINE LOUNGE

- I travel a lot and I can tell you that I recently encountered the worst business class lounge I have had the opportunity to review. The Sala Montale lounge at Malpensa Airport was definitely a lousy offering compared to some of the other business class lounges I have encountered during my travels! Join me on the rest of my travel vlog as I make my way from Italy to Perth following the 2023 Italian GP in Monza. It is never a simple journey to get home to Perth though and I can tell you that I had to take 3 seperate flights - although it did give me an opportunity to showcase what Singapore airlines business class has to offer!

It must be a shock to travel in the same conditions as most people. Ps: baked beans (breakfast) are usually loaded with sugar.
Everything has sugar in it these days.
Same for the sate and it’s sauce
So, flying on economic class with some luck has (included) a lounge access?
Just something to consider:Motorized walkways may be a connivence for most able bodied people, they are a necessity for people who have mobility issues.
That's fair, but only having it for 25 metres seems very redundant
Met you in Zandvoort, took our photo for the F1 experience...,,my sister could not believe I was a fan of the photographer....
I am so glad I stumbled upon your videos. Thank you for sharing your POV of a F1 media person, also just really enjoy how fun, calming, fair and honest all your videos are! Good luck with cutting out sugar for a month, it is hard but super beneficial for your body!
Do you still edit all your videos yourself? The editing has become next level and its awesome! Good luck in Singapore Kym!
I’ve found an editor who understands F1 and travel allowing me to do a video every two days.
The Emirates Lounge we went to at Malpensa leaving the Italian Grand Prix on our way home to New York was fantastic. Happy we avoided the lounge you went to. Did not look good. Thanks for the review.
One of the worst airport lounges I have been to is the Wingtips Lounge in Terminal 4 at JFK.
Just a question.... If your leaving Malpensa in Italy and flying to NY why would you fly Emirates via Dubai? Your going in completely the opposite direction to Dubai just to fly back over Europe to NY
@@charlesjay8818 I Emirates flies direct from JFK to Milan and back. The flight number coming back from Milan was EK205 - an Airbus A380. Curiously, Red Bull Racing Sporting Director Jonathan Wheatley was on the plane with us.
@@charlesjay8818 5th freedom flight
A few spring rolls = 11! Great fun. Would love to see another race in which your son is alongside you.
And full of sugar 😂
He will be with me in Singapore and Japan!
The Milan lounge reminds me of the same zoo like conditions at Manchester (UK) airport. BA closed their lounge and now use the one that people can buy access to. It is dreadful.
Loving the videos, I am on holiday in Perth form England in November and cannot wait.
Came for the Formula One photography, staying for the travel content!
And you’re more than welcome.
secret to that lounge is to stop at sandwich shop downstairs first and bring in food. usually good seating outside smoking room near back window
Yeah, the food was atrocious really, I’m surprised they’re airline clients arent kicking up a fuss
only acceptable food is the espresso after you finished the delicious Autogrill sandwich bought downstairs!@@KymIllman
Welcome to Singapore! Such familiar views and sounds.
Hey Kym, I love yah, and i think your videos are great.. always looking forward to the next one. However, that being said, most of us grunts, blue collar workers and average everyday people cant even probably imagine what its like to even step foot into one of these lounges.. even the bad ones. Having said that, I do have an idea for a video you may like to do in the future... and perhaps youve already had this request, but, I would love to see a video on.. F1 on a budget.. for the current times.. you know, post covid, prices are jacked everywhere, through the roof. But for sure, a video on traveling to see an F1 race, finding cheap and modest loggings, as well as public transit to and from tracks, would be awesome. It would certainly be helpful for the average Joe who isnt well off, to be anle to see a GP weekend in person.. when traveling to another country of course. God Bless Ya Kym. Keep up the awesome videos. Forever a fan
I have plans for a video on this
The 787 seats shown here are the regional configuration. Singapore Airlines also have A350 configured in Regional too. So beware ;)
I always fly from Milan Linate where BA have their own lounge. Not the best one but a lot better than MXP.
Also, the StarAlliance lounge at Changi is a bit underwhelming for such a good airline and flight experience
Another great travel video - thanks for taking us along. We have booked with Singapore Airlines in business class from Singapore to Houston next May. 25 hours including an hour stop Manchester. I appreciate your explanation of the business class seats - and I’m very happy we’ll be on an A350-900! I’ll keep checking the seat availability in the hopes that the bulkhead opens up.
Good for you
How does Singapore airlines have so many 5th freedom flights? They also fly to LA with a stop over in Tokyo and also a flight to Milan and then to Barcelona or Denmark i think, not sure
Surely it would be better to fly to Houston going East... if they can fly to NY direct then why not to Houston going East from Singapore, why the stop in Manchester?
When you watch Kym's reviews to know the best lounges and business classes yet you've never traveled anything but economy or ever been in a lounge... 😞
How can we be bothered with something we can't afford or has accessed to? Well, at least it's a nice information in case we finally can afford some flight that included a lounge access.
Nice stopover in Singapore before the F1 race weekend.
With the F1 audience as large as it is Kym should be over 1 million subs
I concur. Some people are letting the team down.
It looked very crowded and cheap, and they cant make the walkway speed up or else it becomes a tripping hazard, TK at MEL has them also
2:08 you would actually be surprised how much sugar that plate has 😀
Watching this video was like talking to my old friend as
we traveled everywhere and that was the reason why
I subscribed quite a while ago, what's with the no sugar
thing? I mean dam, why even bother live, but good luck
with that experiment, I hope it dose you well, I will opt
for the shortened sugar life thank you.
It’s so annoying that Singapore chose not to offset the seats on those A350’s, it’s my only gripe with what is otherwise an excellent experience.
The travellator was first implimented in the USA as planes got bigger passenger numbers congested airport terminals and causes hold ups.
Increasing passenger numbers across the world ment more airports operated large planes with longer terminals effectively operating a traffick system for passengers to increase loading effeciency . In the UK there is a maximum speed for travellators however it is possible they could be vairable in some countries. Large families with childen or older adults walk much slower that the average walking speeds whilst business passengers tend to walk faster.
Thank you for that very thorough explanation
The baked beans you had with you breakfast have sugar in...
hahaha no sweets but you had a bunch of bread, so there goes your plan out the window, love your videos, thank you for what you do
Ahh, the ams KLM lounge 25 is where I visit quite often. Nice to see it here. How did You enjoyed it, Kym?
So good!
I am in Malpensa airport today - stayed at the Sheraton and their cafe was decent! 🏎⚛️💫✨😎🌱
A bit like the Qantas lounge in one of the FIFO locations
I found Paper Plates/Bowls and plastic utensils at many hotels in Florida, USA a couple of years ago..... Lost my appetite for breakfast!
Cheap and lazy
The milan lounge makes the common user lounge at Kuala Lumpur airport look decadent
I’ve been to that lounge too and was none impressed
Thanks for another great update! Is Schiphol organized and smooth again? Have avoided it due to post pandemic chaos caused by personnel shortages. BTW who plays the drums....in your background?
No, still sucks and loses your luggage like no other
@@heidelbergaren5054 tks, bummer. Hope they sort it out soon!
Another good video. I actually prefer the 787 over the A350 due to the higher cabin pressure and humidity. Good luck with cutting out the sugar. I've bee having no sweets or deserts for three months because of a pre-diabetic diagnosis and it's been easier than I thought (but I didn't cut out all sugar, just sweets of which I are FAR too much of). Waiting for blood test results tomorrow to see if it helped. Don't forget that fruit has sugar! Oh, what camera do you use when vlogging? Do you mic up as well? Thanks!
That’s my focus too. Chocolate, deserts and sugar drinks and SoCo.
Anti noise headphones help with air travel
Thanks for sharing.
You bet
I will ALWAYS prefer the A350 over the B787...
Shared lounges are never as good as stand-alone...
What sleeping tablets do you recommend or are they prescription?
Prescription, yes, temazepam
How do you create your world travel maps showing you takeoff city and your landing city? Very cool.
My graphics guys do them.
Don't start eating before 12:00. Any non sugar and non alcohol beverage is allowed. This is were you may need some will. Only drink like 1/2 L of green tea for your breakfast. Cut everything wheat, i. e. bread, pasta, pastries, etc. It only bloates you and have very little nutritive interest. Stop eating at about 20:00 No sport needed, you will see.
am on my way to Singers, you are welcome to film from my balcony at Fairmont, about 40% track view
That’s a very generous offer. Would love to see what your view is like so could you please email me with a pic from your balcony to kym@kymillman.com
To add to @manualflight comments. Don't blame Boeing for the seat size. All manufacturers offer from high density (inner island Japan) to lounges (long haul). It's the customer (the airline) that chooses the interior layout. Also often the same aircraft type is configured different ways with different registration numbers, despite being the same model.
Still enjoy your videos!
The first tier of lounge at Newark (EWR) terminal C is often crowded, and not very clean. Skip it...
we were sat in the same spot last year on our way back to Perth. And couldn't agree more. Very disappointing as a Business Lounge. We will use Rome in a few weeks time. cant wait!. Love the content. Will keep an eye out for you next time you are back in Perth. Will shout a coffee and a Sticky Sugary Bun!!
Cheers
Have you ever figured out how many hours a year you spend in the air?
I think he did this in an end-of-year recap once. It might be as much as 3-4 weeks total a year nonstop.
ua-cam.com/video/B19uUCWypYw/v-deo.html I spoke about it in this video
I hate to tell that all those bread rolls have sugar in!
Kym, next cycle, try reducing the portion size instead of eliminating sweet delicacies altogether.😜
WHy you should pick the the A350 business over the B787
Mr. 1A, who walks 50km a weekend and doesn't gain weight during the season, what do you need to go on a no-sweets diet for? You can't go to Europe and not enjoy some local sweets! Airplane food doesn't count anyways. 😁
I wish Airplane food didn't count!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SUBAR DIET !!!!! GOOD RESULT, I will try it ?????
I will let you know the results!
Been to that lounge quite a few times, can agree it's terrible haha
Thanks Kym!
Any time!
You were having plenty of sugar with that meal. The bread and pasta ( where they potato) is very quickly converted to glucose by the body.
Man - I WISH bread didn't have sugar in it!
Cool traveller info
Glad you liked it!
Has Kym done a clip on what he carry’s to each Grand Prix? Ie luggage, cameras and clothes?
Yes. A while back
Sucker for a lounge review video.
Is that piano of yours upstairs?
Hope you had someone else lift it mate? 😬🤪😂👍🏼
You might wanna skip the fruits n potatoes if u don't want sugar. I'm doing that for almost a year now. Lost quite some kilos too. Good luck! Other then that, I'm here for the travel n lounge vids, loved this one!
More on the horizon
@@KymIllman Sweet!!
I’ve been to some of the other lounges at Malpensa, no better than your experience but I did pick up a great deal on a Hamilton watch for my son in Duty Free, so not all bad…

@@KymIllman I always wonder what the sales reps in Rolex stores do all day, especially at airport boutiques. 🤷♂️

I have been advised by my wife that everything you had for your breakfast (time around 2:09) has sugar in it......sorry (it does look nice though)
Scrambled eggs?
Bit upset you didn't like Malpensa lounge... never been there (never had the occasion to travel business) but, as an Italian, it always kinda hurts a bit, if you know what I mean...
One of the worst I’ve ever been to.
@@KymIllman Why?
I wish I could afford any lounge.
Good try with no sugar, obviously not on a keto as you would have failed miserably!
Bread, sauces and fruit all contain high amounts of sugar, but I’m sure you know that.
Another quality vlog though ❤
Correction A350 Long Haul config. SIA have 3 versions of A350 configs.
Omg paper plates! The nerve!
For what they charge the airlines they should be offering better than paper plates that are thrown away after a single use. Shameful.
Wouldn't there be some sugar in the saty sauce
Shhhhh
Kym! There's sugar in satay sauce!
Sshhhhh
KI, you do know that bread has starch, right?
And Starch or amylum is a polymeric carbohydrate consisting of numerous glucose units joined by glycosidic bonds. Aka sugar.
Shhhhh
A lot of the stuff you ate had sugar in it. Fruits too.
No one got obese from fruit I’m pretty sure.
Ouch, two sets of claws and a saucer of milk.
like #285. Today a Nascar playoff race in Kansas, Indy Car finishes it's season in California (will Palou and O'Ward ever get to F1? they are so much more deserving than L.Sargeant) and US Open where Djokovic should win in straight sets . . did everyone watch Coco Gauff win ????).
At least the Schiphol lounge was ok😅. The only thing that’s decent about Schiphol AirPort lol
Traveling biz class (any class actually) you can request special meals, so you won't get a fruit salad loaded with sugar for breakfast
I rarely think that far ahead.
Good luck with the sugar diet and look forward to Kym in speedos at Melb GP. Mmm😂
Fingers crossed!
BUT… the armchairs are Poltrona Frau 😃
❤stay passionate.. spring rolls with sweet and sour dipping sauce 😊 yes please
I didn’t say I had the sauce though did I?
@@KymIllman hahahaha 😊 that would be the best sauce for 11 😉✌🏻
No sugar for 28 days. Baked beans, bread, fruit, dates, potatoes, spring rolls 😂😂😂. Dude you still eating sugar. Just say you quit desserts
You rewarded yourself for failing not to eat sugar for a month. No you on day one not 5.
Yeah aint no way you're avoiding sugar whilst eating 'premium' foods whilst perpetually on the move, lol.
Your definition of sugar seems to only related to candy and deserts.
And drinks.
You need to do some research if you really want to do no sugar. Every sauce you had in this video has sugar in it.
Even bread has sugar in it
No sugar, but all that fruit will give you natures sugar,so maybe after 28days,you might not notice the difference at all?
We await you final verdict on a future video!
He most likely means processed sugar. Fruit contains natural sugars
Yes, correct
Worst lounge in my experience: Lima, Peru
How do you not weigh 300lbs, you are always eating?
I walk 60kms every race weekend
3:32 You do understand that some people are disabled and have problems walking, right? People like me who want to move around some but can't walk longer than 100 meters. You can't be that dense for real?
Sugar is in fruit
as long as there is alcohol im fine
Fair point
Veal cows are slaughtered at three months old.
First or business
I'm not sure that most people who are lucky enough to get into a lounge, are there to stuff their faces with a gourmet offering. And to be frank, Kym, you were there just after the Monza GP so huge amounts of people were to be expected, don't you think? Personally, I was there in January earlier this year and found it quite pleasant to be able to get away from the populous and enjoy some quiet time, in a comfy chair with a drink and snack 😉😊
👍👏
Really slumming it there..clearly you arenout of touch with the common man.
RIP diet 😂
Ahhhh so THAT'S where the useless travelator from Adelaide Airport wound up... 😂
Massive first world problem there. Not impressed by this vid.
wow you really are spoiled aren't you
I call it as I see it.
Loved the video kym
Inspector Illman needs a trilby with a notepad and pencil in it
You need to rethink your understanding of SUGAR and the glycemic index, from what I can see you had a plate full of sugar Carbohydrates. All beans potatoes wheat is SUGAR by another name.
I have been advised by my wife that everything you had for your breakfast (time around 2:09) has sugar in it......sorry (it does look nice though)
That does NOT look nice lool
