@@alexhoulston2528there is an item called proliferator made from coal, which when sprayed on items using spray coater building increases energy output in the case of energy items. @@alexhoulston2528 It's what Nilaus started doing at 5:49. Can you visit the black hole and see what level the hive is there? The lore said the fog came from the black holes so I figured it would have the highest level hives on the map.
The black hole system in my seed is ridiculous, 2 fully built hives with 5k+ ships each . It only has a single planet so was easy enough to get a defensive foothold after clearing 15-20 planetary bases. Starving them of matter could take days....
It could be super cool to try your power and skill against real danger, but at the same time, it will make black holes extremely useless. they generate, as far as I remember, 5% of the energy of the starting star, so they will also be extremely protected. I think the developers should add some kind of encouragement to the players for clearing black holes. now their only use is a set of high speed through a bug for achievement, no more
@@NickKnacks5533 Yep, same thing near my black hole - 2 bases, fully built. I also noticed that all my O stars have 1 high level hive orbiting them which is a huge pain.

I was today years old when I found out Icarus could recharge its energy faster with more power towers (how much time I've wasted sitting under 1 tower, I don't know...) Also FYI, if you kill the space hive but there are still planetary bases, they will keep rebuilding the Hive with the matter collected from planets.

Last time I played the game I made item assemblers that had different belt configurations based on the input / output ratios. If you have 2-1 input to 1 output, you can have two belts that share items between two sides of assemblers, but one line that is dedicated to each assembler to get 100% belt utilisation. A bit more tedious than having easily reusable configurations, but good for an end game build...
I was building stuff on my lava planet when my plasma cannons started shooting something. It took me a while to realise they had destroyed all the hive's ships and partially destroyed it. Pleasant surprise. It takes a long time for the orbits to match up like that though.

i learned something if you want to make Nilaus size factories with dark fog parts you need to start farm dark fog parts very very early as it takes a huge amount of time to get them level 21 so (you farm them and keep on growing) maybe on another system just to farm those or something like that ..the hive also gets higher and higher i used one planet to farm it (lava one free energy for lasers) and made main base on another planet.
on your final attack run i think the thing your drones were attacking at first was the regenerated hive. Perhaps they can regen withonly small bits left.
If you hover over the core you'll be able to read a very long description lol, and towards the end it says it cost a great amount of energy and materials for the hive to create a seed which it then sends to another system to start a new hive And from my observation, the planetary bases send back vessels to the core to help rebuild after assaults or expand if left unchecked
