2nd generation jeweler here. Great video! My father used to teach lost wax steam casting to hobbyists. He would use a hibachi style grill to do the burnout with (outside of course). He had one student that built a centrifuge from an old bicycle spocket and wheel. It always amazed me at how inventive these people could get.
Hi. I am about to try my first steam casting and I am not sure how to make the sprue. I’m worried about that some of the premature molten metal will fall into the investment before the entire piece of metal gets liquified.
@@brogains9584 the reason I am asking is that some people say a special sprue needs to be made. A quad pod shape with the arms of 1.4 mm in diameter each. But since it works for you as you described it above I guess I’m going to take your word for it. Thanks.
I meant "Well Done. Good Editing" but I was sick when I watched it and commented. I design tents and make them...and things of that sort. My hobby is all things rocks and metal and growing food. Thank you for making this.

For a design like this you could also try sand casting with delft clay.

Surface tension should hold the molten metal above your sprue line. The sprues I used were 3-4mm diameter, no issues with that.

1.6mm copper wire for the sprue, pull it straight out and the wax from the model drips out as you do it here
Well. Good editing.
Thanks!
