That is such a nice fit for a PA28. There's a similar Archer in my club's fleet which benefits from a GTN650, although bizarrely it's missing I think the Garmin air temperature probe so it can't display the current wind which would be so nice.
@@VaughnDavisTV “a guy at the airfield” told me it was a £250 probe… however was poking around online and seems like some people say you need a whole extra Garmin ADC which I guess is seriously spendy.
Thanks! It's been an evolution but I'm pretty happy with where it's at... am also restoring a Chipmunk so it's getting more of my attention. The one thing I might do is put in a DME I have on the shelf as here in New Zealand, at least, it broadens the range of available IFR alternates.
@@pilotgirl5953 I like the idea of. having an avionics fit that isn't completely reliant on another country's satellite constellation (or the so-far-perfect reliability of the GNS430). I think the fact the worn-looking BK DME I have will look out of place in my panel is all that's holding me back!
@@pilotgirl5953 The ADF that came with the aircraft wasn't even good for listening to AM radio on so I removed it (and gained a handy 0.5 knots by removing the sense antenna!)
Not that much different from the Arrow I was flying 45 years ago, what you have done is nice, not over done. The biggest improvement (in my opinion) is the repositioning of the engine instruments into the scan zone.
Hi Vaugn, very nice! I am about to do the dual G5 and GFC500 as well on my Arrow II. Can you tell me if you did the yaw damper and the autotrim on the autopilot? Can you tell me if you think it was worth it if you did? Thanks m8!
Hi mate I didn't do the yaw damper and it's fine without it. I just give the odd nudge on the rudder pedals in turns and adjust rudder trim at level off. Autotrim I got and 100% worth it. A friend's went inop and he hated flying without it. Overall an excellent setup.
Dream layout ❤
@@revampmobilesolutions8851 works for me! Took a while but I’m pretty happy with how everything is working together as an IFR platform
Nice cockpit ! We also have two G5 and GFC 500 and also Garmin 430 in an Archer III Works perfectly
Looking forward to the G5 software 8.02 to drop so we can get past this trim servo issue on the GFC500 though right!
Nice layout

I don't have the OAT/TAS add on - it was a pretty expensive extra to add an arrow and a number to a screen. I haven't missed it.

@@VaughnDavisTV I’m in Canada and use DME when available

@@VaughnDavisTV Funny, I also use ADF when I can. I'm that old lol I agree I can still navigate without GPS, barely

Nice setup, how much did spent for the whole setup, please?
