This should be the Bible of Catchlights in Portrait Photography. You covered ALL the aspects. A great thinker and a great presenter. Very Very helpful. Thank you very much.
That marble trick was great! Thank you for sharing it. I shoot video interviews and it's always strange to have a client sit down for a long time to set up the shot. Whatever I can use to set up in advance it's a win.
Do not order the 'black marbles' in the link he provides, those things are not marbles but beads - tiny enough to fit a dozen or so in one marble like the one he holds in the video. 10,000 useless black beads are no fun.
Another excellent video. Great tip about placing the bottom of the modifier between nose and chin level. Also I noticed you included a photo of Chantel from this year's FCCC. Truly an outstanding model, and I so appreciate you bringing her to FCCC. Your portrait of her was exquisite. As always , thanks so much for all you do. Stay healthy!
Thank you. I found out about using brightervlighting for those with lighter coloured eyes. Just what i was thinking. Just to add a note... china ball for a soft catch light.
Very giod video. I noticed you had catchlights even though you were wearing glasses.Your glasses didn’t reflect light. Do you have a video on how to do that?
Its such a pleasure to watch your videos. Lots of respect for sharing your knowledge and experience. Let me also tell you, your videos are a visual treat. Love from India.
I have to do Swim suit shoots for a local business on line catalog. My question: I just purchased a Wescott 48" Rapid Box. There going to be 3/4 length shots. How high and what angle should the box be to get a catch light?
Hello joe nobelman (becourse edelman means nobelman in dutch) I am watching your video's for some time now but i wonder, do you also do photo reviews from fans and followers. because i think they can be a great tool for learning. sometimes you may learn more from your mistakes than your successes. thank you.
Speaking of distractions, have you watched Saturday Night Live lately? Everyone has big round catch lights near their faces. It seems like a huge portion of the pupil. I also know that each person is trying their best while working alone at home but they could use some coaching. Might make a good example for you to use.
There's a big difference between a camera reviewer and a camera teacher.
Congratulations, a very informative video.
Good & Concise Information with great imagery presented in a clear and to-the-point fashion. Me gusta and thank you so much!! 👨🏫

Club rules - I've been entering club competitions for 12 years and never heard of a catch light rule. But who follows rules anyway?!
