For some reason the old design of Robot Patrick is way scarier than the new design, I guess cause it looks way more realistic compared to the new more robotic design.
Robot Patrick was severely nerfed in Rehydrated. He's slower when he does his twirl attack and it shows where it's landing when in the original it doesn't do that.
The original SpongeBob had a few attacks slightly but not noticeable changes in rehydrated for the final boss I’ll point them out here 2:51 he only says KA RA TAE once even when the attack is repeated 11:42 the same attack but he says KA RA TAE it every time the attack is repeated and some speaker vibration sfx can be heard mid attack

The original is more difficult since they do not warn you where the projectiles will fall or where it will attack, I also think that the scenarios were bigger and the enemies faster, but it is still a good game.
Simple? It was pretty difficult to me But thats maybe cuz im bad at platformers Or maybe its cuz i played it on switch and the long loading screens make me realize my deaths more
Uh... revisiting the bosses locations kinda sucks in this remaster. You can’t even refight them like you did in the original. For some odd reason, purple lamp studios decided to make it where the levels themselves are useless. I just hope one day they will update and fix that issue. This game is too good after all
Let’s be honest big game companies won’t give enough shits about this game for it to be GOTY since it’s a true remake for the fans and not a game to appeal to video game journalists. Which is why online journalists like the gamespot critic give this game low scores.
My biggest gripe will always be how they changed Robo Patrick (in my opinion obviously). I remember having such a clear memory from a very young age of me playing the original game on a rainy day and getting to the Robo Patrick. I was so terrified of the entire fight; the way he looked, his dark color palette, his menacing grin, his fluid movements, the atmosphere, and even the intro cutscene when Squidward is screaming his lungs out while running away from the robot; It just hits different in the original. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the game tho, it’s just that this rehydrated battle just kinda felt anti climatic.
This but Robo Sandy, its so much worse. They changed the angle, the size of the ring, the speed of sandy, it completely took away the fear of her slowly creeping up to you. The angle where it looked like she was towering over you is what I miss the most.
@@GalaxieMadchen not to mention the robot SpongeBob looks so much bigger in the original game, the rehydrated made the robot smaller, the arena smaller, and this might be a nitpick, but after the dark times of Robo Sandy and Patrick, I actually loved the idea of the final boss having a much lighter tone, almost like this IS where the robot lab is, cause labs are usually in white rooms right? Idk just a nitpick but imo the boss fights are just simply better in the original, maybe Prawn was the only better change to the boss but the other FIVE were so much better in the original!
The only problem I have is that spongebot’s idle is just him a-posing, he also has super short arms, also his KAH- RAH- TAE! Attack doesn’t play the audio again when he does the same attack in a row, I know it’s sounds dumb, but why are the words orange instead of the older green? It matches his weak points better Also they removed his old stun animation (him smacking his face with his karate glove) and they didn’t put in the unused idle animation (he did a dance)
I like the new design of Sandy and the spongebob robot bosses and also the graphics however I don't like what they did to robot Patrick and how they made everything easier
Same here, and honestly, I plan to re-buy the old version and play that too. I'm not sorry I got the new version, but the changes, and some missed pieces, just took too much from the fun where it counted. Oh well, it does mean I have more experience playing it, since I last had it as a kid, and I have an excuse to play it twice in a row!!
Purple lamp should’ve added a difficulty screen or atleast a menu for people who have played the original cause..let’s be real this was too easy even for little kids
Im saying it They ruined the robot Patrick fight There are indicators where his attacks will land They made the ice breath attack easier to dodge In the final phase he doesn’t face you after spinning so you dont have to move behind him and hit him from there The idea of the goo-vomit attack is that he is drinking the goo and spiting it at you, not releasing the goo then vomiting goo, that he is carrying The original is way better and way more challenging
It was for example robot Patrick was difficult but for me it was easy now the remastered version they just made robot Patrick too easy I still love the game
It definitely was. If anyone noticed, there are like red targets to know when the bosses were gonna strike. In the old game we just had to test our luck 😂😂
Out of all of them, I wish they kept Robo Sandy almost exactly the same. The fact they made the battle much faster and her movements faster takes away the charm and fear that battling Robo Sandy gave you as a kid. It's disheartening. I also miss when the ring was much larger too. What I liked about the bosses were their difficulty especially when playing it as a kid because its so much more rewarding to beat such a hard challenge. Don't get me wrong, Rehydrated is BEAUTIFUL and id play it over the original simply cause of its beauty, however id switch just because the charm and bosses of the original are what got me so interested in the first place.
In the Robot Spongebob fight I find the new robot much more terrifying but the fight itself isn't. The original got all of its terror from how fast he moved and how there was no real warning. And Robot Plankton was SO much nicer in the new one, in the old one it was either run like heck or face punishment. And no Newscastor! The Robot Patrick fight I do like that they too care of some really annoying mishaps, like how the instant the ski ball hit the goo it vanished and how the button would face conveyor belts instead of steady ground. However, the original design of Robot Patrick was far more intimidating which led to that fight feeling all the more exhilarating. Also, that frost breath move was slowed way down, which was kind of sad, I liked having to move faster to run from these guys. So, Robot Sandy I actually liked the closer quarters and faster pace. I did not like how stiff Neptune was... that was a bit too janky for my taste... also the Newscastor wasn't on screen for the cutscene at the end! And above all that, THE GAME TELLS YOU HOW TO BEAT HER! She is the first major boss you fight (first robot boss) and they're like, "nah she's not easy enough, let's just tell them how to beat her". PRAWN!!! I had to scream it like Mermaid Man, you can't not scream Prawn like Mermaid Man! Any who, Mermaid Man is hard to look at in this game... I think it's the eyes... Those eyes are starring into my soul and I don't like it. And the rocks shift your camera when you walk on them now, not much, but it does happen. I miss the music that goes with the light floors and the lights next to the ski ball paths. King Jellyfish only had one game play part change really and that was that he charges his electricity a bit slower. The electricity is on his body now instead of the little tube thing, and he beats himself up every time you hit him now. Also, you can see through him to his cape now, like in the show. And the Flying Dutchman, just like with the Robot Sandy fight, you are expressly told how to defeat him. no figuring it out for yourself, just do what you're told. I like that the fire attack is a little bit more difficult, and that you're in a slightly smaller arena. But his laser eyes are a bit slower and he's a solid being, he's not all ghostly and see through anymore. Not to say I don't like the new game or the new bosses, they just feel a little stiff in some places, and there are just a few small details (And some major ones) that I felt could have been pulled off better. Also in general, Spongebob moves a bit slower, like just slow enough that some jumps seem a bit harder to make than before. Over all though, they did as good a job as I could have expected for a remake of a cult classic.
The SpongeBot boss was really nerfed in this game especially with the fact that Robot Plankton takes so long to attack that he might as well not be part of the fight.
The remastered version is pretty good, though it feels like they skipped out on giving the robots in general better animations; they did a spectacular job with the characters. The bosses themselves felt a little underwhelming at times compared to the original; robot plankton is a total joke compared to the original one. But it would've been nice to see the robots have updated animation along with their old ones.
The original was able to sell the scale of the Robot bosses a whole lot better. If you look at the Robot Sandy fight of the remastered version, the camera is at a high angle looking down on the arena and her animations were snappy and quick. The original Robo-Sandy fight was framed at a lower angle, a technique that we see games like Shadow of the Colossus use to make the player seem smaller and overpowered by looking up at the enemy. Her movements were also slower to sell the weight of her movements an effect that you don't really get from the slapstick cartoony animation from the remaster.
I feel like they made some mistakes in how they changed it, like taking away from Robot Patrick's design and dark character, and though I love what they did with some of the other things, like Robot Sandy and Spongebob Steelpants, and the look of the Bubble Powers, the losses compared to the original have convinced me to get the original too, since i have a GameCube. This is cool
Holy moly sandy predicted the word yapping
Robot plankton should have said "SpongeBob SquarePants meet SpongeBot Steelpants."
Um why didn’t you put the final boss at the end of the video
Cuz the ps4 ones does not have a final boss well there should be aka the final boss was the announcer and they deleted cuz people says his attack super annoying
Mermaid: everything i owned turned pink PINK!!!
Spongebob: who horable!
Me: now thats just rude
I’m okay with the new spongebob boss, the problems I have are with the size of the arenas for both robot sandy and robot Patrick, the camera angle during the robot sandy boss, and the design of robot Patrick and the overall less creepy vibe of the arena
I like the original look for robot Patrick
WAIT how the heck do the particle effects when the flying dutchman moves look worse than the original?
That was a self-destruct.😂
30:40 look its a giraffe is one of the best lines in this game
I WILL SUB
I remember the game and that was cool and I remember the old version 🎮😀💖.

ngl I don't mind the game being easier, some of the old bosses used to drive me crazy when I was younger lol
