    Hi Mr Dixon, would you please be able to explain what the difference between a social and cognitive schema is?

      @ThemanticEducation  3 роки тому

      Social schema is a sub-type of cognitive schema. It's a particular schema about social norms and people (e.g. stereotypes is a type of social schema).

    Hi! This is a great video! I noticed that there are two Kahnemann and Tversky studies, 1974 and 1986. Which one would you recommend using for thinking and decision-making? Thanks!

    Hi, I have one question, could you use the stone study for social and cognitive schema?

    • @ThemanticEducation
      @ThemanticEducation  2 роки тому +1

      Possibly, but as stereotypes are a "social schema" it might be better to use something else.

    Hi Mr. Dixon, Thank you very much for your efforts and you save our days. But one question, could you explain the difference between cognitive schema and schema theory? This would help me a lot and thank you.

    • @ThemanticEducation
      @ThemanticEducation  3 роки тому

      "Cognitive schema" is part of "schema theory." Schema theory is made up of a bunch of claims about what cognitive schemas are and how they work. I'm not sure why the IB added the term "cognitive schema" to the guide.

    Hi Mr. Dixon. First of all, thank you for taking the time to make such informative and great videos. Your content has helped me lots. I do have a question though. In class, we learned about the TRA/TPB model which my teacher has made us, or at least me, very confident in explaining. However, the study(Albarracin et al, 2007) we looked at never really used the term intuitive thinking explicitly and as TPB is a descriptive model, I don't really have any studies on rational thinking. Do you know of any studies you would recommend for me if exam questions were formulated using rational/intuitive thinking?

    • @ThemanticEducation
      @ThemanticEducation  3 роки тому +1

      I like this one - you can explain why people got the wrong answer (they were probably using intuitive thinking) and why people got the right answer (they were probably using rational thinking): www.themantic-education.com/ibpsych/2018/11/15/key-study-for-the-dual-processing-model-thinking-and-decision-making/

      @@ThemanticEducation I see. Thank you! In the video you recommended a different study for biases in thinking and decision making. Any reason why I shouldn't choose this one for biases as well?

    • @ThemanticEducation
      @ThemanticEducation  3 роки тому +1

      @@niryenzina2205 you could use it for biases. Originally I didn't since heuristics wasn't listed as a bias in the guide, but as of the updated version it is so it's fine. Although, I like the confirmation bias studies as they can also be used for an effect of stereotypes.

    Hey, Travis, great resource!
    How come you don't ship to India?
    Terrible loss here! Anyway to help me out?

    • @ThemanticEducation
      @ThemanticEducation  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Daisy, it's a real shame and we've tried everything. Class sets (10+) are not a problem. There's just something about shipping from China to India that results in all sorts of problems at border customs, resulting in extra charges being put on the customer and big delays. The issue doesn't seem to occur if it's a "gift", which we can't legally say, but a friend could - so you could have them shipped to a friend in a different country and they ship to you. I know this is a pain and I wish we could work around it but with one-off orders it's tricky.
