    Its our last video in the UK travel series. This time we are in Cornwall to see the Eden project. We couldn't stop in Cornwall without having a Cornish pasty and some cream tea. We show the difference between Cornish cream tea and Devonshire cream tea.
    The Eden project is a huge project involving 2 biomes housing different flora and fauna from the rainforest and Mediterranean.
    We also got to experience England's longest zipline the SkyWire from Hangloose adventures.

    About Travel Beans:
    Welcome to the official Travel Beans UA-cam channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
    In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable full time travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
    After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
    Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now travelling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

    I couldn’t get to the Eden Project when I visited Cornwall, but your vlog gave me the chance to see bits and now it’s back on the to visit list. Loved the Robin’s role in the cream tea segment. He did so well posing on the back of the chair.

    Couple of comments. 1 The semicircular ring of pastry on a Cornish Pasty is not meant to be eaten, it is there so the miners can eat it without eating mining residue . 2 Tradition says that you do not use a knife to open the scone into 2 portions; simply twist the top and botton in different directions.
    BUT, as usual - Great video, look forward to seeing more when this is all over.

    The hard crust on the ends of pasties was supposed to be thrown away because it was originally a miners lunch and they had coal all over their hands and they were able to eat it so they didn't get it in their mouth

    As an Ex Pat living in a next door Country it was good to see some places that I have yet to visit, hopefully soon. It is all well and good clocking up polluting air miles visiting far flung places but Blighty has some very beautiful locations well worth a visit, a staycation is the future and most are accessible by Public Transport of one type or another and Shanks Pony. Enjoy Turkey, looking forward to the Vlogs.

      @@TravelBeans Hi Alex, forgot to mention, the thick crimped edge of a Cornish Pasty is not meant to be eaten, it is just a handle to hold it so that the Tin, Copper and Lead miners did not contaminate their food with dirty hands. It was just chucked on the ground where any Rats could feast on it and hopefully dying with Copper or Lead poisoning.

    Re the thick ridge of pastry which Alex doesn't like on pasties. It's a handle, you're not suppose to eat it. Pasties were working man's lunches, the idea was that your Cornish tin miner/farm labourer etc could hold it by the crust and avoid touching his food with his filthy hands. When he'd finished, he'd throw the crust away for the Piskies*.

    Hi friendly fellow bean teachers. I'm thinking of doing some online English language teaching. Can I ask who you think is the best to work for?

    • @TravelBeans
      @TravelBeans  5 років тому +1

      We work with Cambly. The money is extremely low but the flexibility is worth everything to us. I have heard vipkids is good if you can be more fixed. We can never guarantee WiFi so it effects who we can work with. The other side is that our job is extremely easy as it's just conversation instead of traditional teaching.
      Are you on the summer break from uni now?

    • @daveh1247
      @daveh1247 5 років тому

      @@TravelBeans Hi. Thanks for the info. Yes, just started the long summer break. I used to go to Cambridge uni and do Summer School, but getting a bit long in the tooth now, lol. I thought teaching online would help fill in the time. To do my job at uni we need to be a member of a professional body which is £87 a year subscription. On top, they now demand we do 6 courses at £320 each. It's daylight robbery insisting that we pay a couple of grand to be able to continue doing a job we've done for nearly 20 years. I may need a new source of income. Thanks again for the information; much appreciated.

    • @TravelBeans
      @TravelBeans  5 років тому +1

      Wow that is crazy and extremely counterintuitive. There are lots of options online for sure though. For us, Cambly works as we love being able to put the time in to YT. However if that wasn't the issue there are plenty of better options out there. I have an amazing excel sheet with all the teaching companies and their salaries somewhere I can send you. I am on a boat for the next week so my access to a computer is quite limited but would happily send it when we reach land next weekend

    Hey guys. love the vlog , Yes Emma definitely cream first otherwise you are fighting to get the cream to stay. And guy do we have to have the history lesson,?. The crusty bit should be actually thicker. Why so back in the day of tin mining the guys would take the pasty down with them, then at lunch time they would have no where to wash up. so they would hold the pasty by the large crust eat the middle then throw the now dirty crust away. Also it's where the pastry is joined to seal it. I had a relative by marriage who was a pure bread Cornish woman. Well she would make a true pasty with apple in one side and meat and potatoes etc on the other. and never the Twain would meet. still can not master that trick. . Anyway be safe.Looking forward to the next.
