Hello! I've just subscribed to your channel and you're really talented! I usually sing Ison in the choir at my Romanian Orthodox church, too. But I never had some basic rules to follow during Ison and your videos made me understand some new skills, so I can have a general idea about it✌
Well, none really, but having a foundation in western music, either by singing or by an instrument would help a lot! I know some chanters who have 0 musical experience in other realms and can learn fine, and know some chanters who have studied western music and also do fine. Most of it is finding an approach that works for you and giving ample time for practicing
Thank you so much. I have a good sense of pitch and I think that if I took Ison at my parish, it could revive the chant there. Currently there are no chanters and that saddens me. Also, engraving variations and teaching notation is something I could take up, to take it to the next level, if the chant returns properly.
It's a talent that is in demand and low in supply, I think that it is worth learning notation if its something you are passionate about and know you can serve the church that way

World Scales, even though its only available on IOS, is, from what i've seen, THE app. You can search all it can and cant do online. Good luck? Also, are you a chanter?

Do I have to have so deep voice or not
Not necessarily, the lowest notes you'll usually sing are a G2 and A3, but generally if you can sing a C3 or D3 you are good
