first time i heard this complete song, i was 18 or so and i was just recording music off a local college radio station on to tape. i was just recording whatever came on then monheim starts to play and without knowing who GYBE was i justed listen to the entire song, the full 20 minutes. i was just amazed by it and realized i just recorded something that i knew i was going to listen to for the rest of my life.
From 7:22 and onwards is one of the most intense and powerful moments in all the history of rock music and you can't convince me otherwise. Godspeed is the reason why they call it postrock, as in it truly is the pinnacle of what rock music aspired to be, the culmination of the rock era.
I don't think anyone can argue that there is a more beautiful moment in music history than 7:19 to the end. Absolutely fills me up with hope, it makes me feel like i died trying to do something for the better of a loved one, but I died with a smile on my face.
The violin section at the end before the final crescendo brought me to tears when I first heard it. GYBE is quite possibly the most amazing band I have ever heard.
4:55 is when my favorite part starts on that note i find it very beautiful that everyone in the comments are marking completely different parts as their favorite, as with many other songs you tend to see everyone have the same exact favorite part
there is a sweetness in clumsy efforts stubborn hope always trumps lazy greed & gentle hearts tear vulgar castles down don't be afraid, don't be afraid, don't be afraid
This music gave me an inner joy, an open mindedness, a gratefulness, open eyes and an internal sensitivity for the miracles of creation. I think that in human evolution it has never been as necessary to have this track Sleep. It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be.”
14 billion years of shit floating around in space and this is the greatest thing we have created in that time. And it's completely worth it all. Monumental
my dude, i get you. literally no one's taking about that exact part. for me it comes right after fishmans long season live's climax as music's greatest moments.
I remember getting heavily into this record back when I was playing Fallout 4. The 2 memories have coalesced into some post-apocalyptic super memory. I loved those days.
In 2.5 million years of human history this is the best thing we ever created.
Right? Not one part of the arrangement need be subtracted or added, it is a perfect moment.

What about The miracle on ice. those boy s were playing there heart out there. pearl harbor we got reveneg for that too. usa always comign up winners
May this be a reminder to never go softly into that sweet night.

Where is that recording
@@yemmohater2796 It's long gone, wish I still had my old cassette recordings back then...
I love little memories like this. Simple, but it sticks with you because it opened up a whole new experience in your world.
at 1:50 around you can start to hear a band member mumbling along to the guitar, its very subtle, almost sounds like snoring

7:22 is where rock peaked
4:55 is what I call an eargasm...
I've never heard anything more beautiful ;-;
Easily their most beautiful piece.
GYBE’s finest work right here imo
3:32 god when that trumpet hits, that is one of the greatest feeling ever I experienced from hearing music
Always starts crying at 3:27 because how beautiful that part is holy shit
When the trumpet hits man, I get very emotional and start to cry as well
Like all the joys and tragedies in a person's life codified into a single melody

This is just beyond words, the type of music that echoes throughout the whole cosmos
The end of so many things...the true credits theme of my life.
Los últimos dos minutos , debe de ser uno de los momentos más hermosos de toda la historia de la música

7:18 reminds me of something I would hear in a shoegaze song, particularly from the band Rumskib.
