- Here's an authentic recipe for Easter koulourakia. In this video I show you how to make traditional Greek Easter cookies. This is a very easy recipe for these Greek Easter cookies that has been handed down from generation to generation. This recipe uses orange juice for flavouring rather than ouzo, mastiha or brandy. The only real trick is the orange juice and baking soda combination and rotating the cookies during baking. Try this Greek koulourakia recipe for Easter and keep making them year round!!!!
Hope you guys enjoy this video and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, just give me a shout and I'll get back ASAP!!!!!
Try this today and take your meals from ordinary to OPA!!!!!
Hope you all love it!!!!!
Cheers,
Ken

God rest your soul Ken. I am heart broken that the world has lost such as wonderful person. My condolences to Evgenia and the rest of his family. :(
I will forever continue to make his recipes because he was a great cook!
I remember rolling these out beside my yia yia when I was a young girl. We'd make soooo many cookies for all of the family members to take a nice big container of them home. I haven't had any in years, and now I'm inspired to try my hand at them this year. Thank you!
The kitchen aide mix master is my 3rd arm. Would not can not bake without it. I love it when something other then me puts the beating process at ease. This kitchen appliance does a far better job.then I could.lol
We miss you, Ken ✨🕊✨
Ken, I made these for the Sunday Greek church coffee hour last week and everyone went crazy over them! Your recipe got so many compliments from the Greek Ladies and that says a lot for this recipe ;)
I get such a kick out if you! I closed my eyes for a minute as you smelled that cooky, and I was transported back to my YiaYia's kitchen at Easter time. A tear sneaked down my cheek as I reminisced. Ken, thank you.
Thank YOU Elaine!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 That’s one of the nicest things you could say:-))
These look amazing! Making them asap!😮❤️TY
I've never mixed the orange juice with the baking powder... brilliant! I have to try a practice batch before Easter. Thank you for a great tutorial and have an amazing week!
Thank you so much Bessie!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Same to you....

I really enjoyed your instruction and watching you bake. Thank you. These are my absolute favorite cookie. I'm no longer near a Greek bakery; so, bake I must. I'm looking forward to making this unique recipe. I hope mine are as good as your's. I could have eaten one whole tray.
Thank you so much Linda!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Good luck....

I love these cockie's, haven't had any in year's, since my Mum passed away, 30 year's ago, in Greece by the way, on holiday staying at my sister's in Greece, she lives there full time. Xx

Take care and be safe guys!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for the recipe & instructions & tips. I tried it & it came out nice. The only ingredient difference was no shortening (just replaced it with the butter I was using). My orange juice & baking powder didn't fizz quite as much as yours. I let the dough rest for 45 minutes, in a bowl covered with cling wrap. It was easy to handle & roll after that, no vegetable oil needed.
I love watching you cook Ken You are so honest and forthright lol lol I can smell them cooking in the Oven lol Another Glorious Winner. Happy Easter to you and your Family,,
LOLOLOL Thank you Nancy:-)) Have to work on my “honesty and forthrightness”...
Cheers,

May your memory be eternal!🙏
Thank u Ken. Kali anastasi
Thank YOU!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
THANK-YOU for the recipe i will make them have a great Easter i just need to ask you a question do you have to use the shortened can you use vegetables oil because in a Australia it is hard to find
Thank you for your comment and question. You can just add the equivalent of butter instead of shortening. Veg oil would alter the texture a bit too much. Good luck and let me know how they turn out:-))
Cheers,
Ken🇨🇦
Baking and science project combined
Haha 👍👍👍
If I use butter instead of shortening, how much butter?
Great Video - I started to look at your other videos.I liked the tip on vegetable oil for the dough. I get a bit frustrated when the dough gets sticky. Will try that in the future.
I am wondering could this be converted keto friendly cookies? I am thinking of swapping out flour with almond with psyllium husk and sugars with Erythritol. Do you think that will change the flavor too much from the traditional cookies?
Hey Strati,
Thank you for your comment! You can substitute the flour and sugar. Should work ok. I’m currently testing kourabiedes recipes with coconut flour and stevia. Standby for the result LOL Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you...
Cheers,
Ken🇨🇦
@@KensGreekTable thanks. Will do.
I see you don't add Baker's Ammonia? My Grandmother did and it added an excellent flavor to her Kouloria.
I know exactly what you mean Pete...
No shortening available. Replacement?
Not a problem. Simply replace with either butter or margarine....
😋😛🤯🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🔟🇬🇷👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ken put a towel over your mixer so the flour dose not fly all over.
What happens if my dough is too soft? I tried water oil. Help please
Hi Lupita,
Thank you for your question and please just take a deep breath:-)) What you need to do is just keep adding flour gradually in 1/2 cup amounts. That should solve your issue. Thanks again and let me know how they turn out....
Cheers,
Ken🇨🇦
Everything looked good except the shortening part, I will never use shortening in my baking
I am a Christian. Got me through a lot.
I tried to make them and i failed
Oh no, what happened???
Well i followed my aunts recipe and i failled idk maybe i didnt kneed it enough it was very hard dough
HOW MUCH FLOUR PLEASE?
Thank you for your question. The recipe calls for about 5-6 cups but it may take a bit more or less....
Christos anesti
A bit early champ but thank you....
Ummm🤔 HOW MUCH FLOUR!?
Oh I found it!👍☺️
It's a butter cookie not a shirtening & butter cookie. Yuch.
No need to be rude. Just use butter.
Lots of great tips! Thank you! 🇬🇷🤍🇬🇷🤍🇬🇷
Have you ever made this recipe with only butter? If so, how did the cookies turn out?
