I don't watch a ton of football, but I love these channels with minimal editorializing, no embellishment, no face on camera, obvious passion for the subject matter, and a rich presentation.
Yo great analysis. Van Ginkel got absolutely cooked at 13:02. He had us beat the whole game, killing the screen game, and run game to the right side. Almost had a pick-6 too on a previous play. They played to his strength, he stepped in thinking it would be another screen, Gibbs beat him no chance. Great play call to see that and manipulate Van Ginkel’s strength to make it a weakness. Elite
5:58 Collinsworth kept talking about how in championship games you have to be prepared to stand tall and take the hit. Goff did repeatedly, Darnold didn't. Makes for a 20 point difference!
Goff is one of only two quarterbacks who have led multiple different teams that were the top scoring offense of the season: the 2017 Rams and the 2024 Lions. The other quarterback was Peyton Manning with the 2004 Colts and the 2013 Broncos.
@@WillieBeamenApex I just did fucktard. All those guys I named led a team that was the league leader in scoring during a season and then they went on to change teams.
Yet ppl keep pushing the narrative that he's mid and the lions are carrying him. Ppl who actually watch and understand film know that's simply not true.
I was looking at the stats for pass block win rate and run block win rate and was very surprised as a Lions fan to see they were barely top 15 in both of those stats.
@JK.Palomba I've been saying that for years and lions fans swear they have the best oline in football. Yes the lions oline is good but jg makes them look way better then they actually are and he's been doing that for years now.
I have noticed the oline is not as dominant as it was last year. They are probably all hella banged up and we dont know about it. Week 5 bye killed us.
Kinda mutual, O line gives Goff the little time he needs, skill players run their routes like it's written up, and Goff delivers where he knows they'll be. Makes them all look good. Worked for 15 wins, what can you say.
I'll say this, as a die hard Lions fan - the truth about Goff is somewhere in the middle. If you give him weapons and time, I'm not sure there's anyone significantly better than him. People don't understand his ability to read coverage and run an offense is literally second to none. He motions, audibles, IDs, and calls protection at the highest level. I don't think he could carry a bad team, but most QBs cant. People like to pretend that QBs win games alone though, so the narrative will always exist.
too easy for goff just read and throw just win.. his winning on rams and lions..tell me what team he need to go and make it a superbowl contender..idiot
I like how quickly you go through this. Shows how good the Vikings defense is and how difficult it is to be a top qb. Not a good pocket most of the time but he delivers
Yes, but can he tuck the ball away and run all quick and shifty past the first down marker? For a lot of fans, all that matters when it comes to evaluating QB play is his ability to effectively scramble when a play breaks down. It doesn't occur to those dim bulbs that the really great QB won't let the play breakdown. He'll toss the ball to a stud beyond the sticks to get that first down. The play won't make the SportsCenter highlights, but it is just as fine.
What do you mean it’s not fair. After the rest of the league using the Lions as a practice squad for decades it’s Detroits chance and what a chance it is. Go Lions Superbowl 59
Thanks, that was a great breakdown, it gave me a new appreciation for a game I have watched a few times. Like, yes! Subscribe, hell yes! OUTSTANDING!!! 🏈16 MVP🏈
When I watch these all22 video's what jumps off the tape at me is the fact that Gibbs is a massive threat out of the backfield. There is no linebacker in the NFL who can match his speed or elusiveness in the open field. I would love to see them throw more often to him over the middle while running the other receivers as decoys. Imagine this is only Gibbs second season at age 22 and he has shared the workload with knuckles for much of the time and still leads the NFL in touchdowns. This kid is very special in space, great vision, quick and power.
This was nice. Something I saw on the last throw to Jamo was it looked like he intentionally placed his feet and peeked at Gibbs to hold that LB and give more room to make the throw. He threw it sort of across his body.
We wont get most the players back but they've proven they can win anyways. They will get Monty back and iffy, Anzalone, and others already have knocked the rust off. We vould get Hutch back for the NFC championship or SB but how affective he would be coming back from that injury is questionable but if he gets 15 snaps i think it could help but we are still missing guys
I have been a Goff fan from day 1. The trade was excellent. Goff had gone to the big show early on and brought the experience to Detroit. The guy's football IQ is evident; he does his job very well! Brad Holmes brokered the trade, so you had to know something was there. Stafford is an outstanding QB, but it was apparent he wanted to leave; he'd been through enough mediocre coaches and was unwilling to stick around for yet another new coach. As for the offense carrying him, I call balderdash! They carry each other; if any of them are terrible, they all are awful. One man can't do it all at once. If we had mediocre receivers, Goff's performance would slide alongside that. If the O-line sucked as bad as The Vikes did in week 18, Goff would look like Darnold, desperate and afraid. The collective strength makes this team great; it includes the owner, the GM, coaches, and all. This is why teams are after the DC and OC. Goff gets no love because he does run around like all these new kids. But he does not have to. 15-2 baby! Scrambling means the O-line has failed and/ or the receivers have failed. Our O-line holds up, and our receivers get open. We don't need to do that, as evidenced by our progressively improving record over the last 3 seasons. Detroit has always had parts of a winning team but never all the pieces; Stafford had Johnson but a terrible coach, front office, and ownership. Barry just had Barry; the same can be said for Sims and so on. Now they have ALL the pieces, and Goff and the Lions look great. Fun fact: When St. Brown was drafted by Detroit, he was not happy, but he stuck it out. He drank the Dan Gamble knee-cap soup, and here we are today. In an interview, he said, "I saw that 313 number and was like, oh no, not Detroit..." We're all glad he did.
Dude, what are you talking about? Get "most" of the guys back and be "mostly" healthy? The Lions won't even be close to that. Gone for the entire year are Alim McNeil, Comiskey, Davenport, Barnes, Carleton Davis, Dorsey, Rodriguez, Wingo, Peko, mostly likely Aiden Hutchinson, and many more. You might want to check the reports.
Just wait for the playoffs when opponents find out that Jared is secretly a mobile QB and gets more rushing yards than any other QB in the playoffs, even with one less game
Lions still won't be close to 100% even aftwr the bye. Barnes, CD3, Alim, Rodrigo are not coming back. Hutch has a slim chance to play & even if contribute.
Goff’s accuracy and IQ is a perfect fit for Ben Johnson. Great tape review
Someone asked me if they thought Stafford would be even better with this offense. I said no, Goff is a better fit for this Lions team.

yes, but, typically quarterbacks who lead top scoring offenses don't change teams.

Goff made so many great tightly covered throws against the Vikes. I thought he was terrific.

Very true. QB’s often get too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses.
Imagine that. Good offensive line and weapons makes for a good QB
No qb is carrying a bad team.
Wow you are amazing at breaking this down for us!

Thank you Rams. That trade made Lions contenders. Goff, Jamo, Gibbs and LaPorta all became Lions because of it.

Blitz or no blitz, Great QB's like Goff read defenses quickly, gets rid of the ball quickly, and threads it to the correct receiver.
