Actually this is the first gear i bought to record ideas on the road. It's a perfect example of a portastudio brought into digital time. But while everything worked great and it's indeed a quite capable machine, its editing functions are quirky. most important, you can't record the drums, that metronome always "runs parallel" and you can't program parts. That's ok but at some point there has to be a true drumtrack for demoing, but no way to sync anything to it afterwards. Only solution would be recording a real drumtrack first or exporting into a daw and then add drums... I loved its concept but ended up again with a laptop/interface. Faster, better editing, better quality, better screen, better versatility, better reworking for demoes.
@@gearfacts yes very good 👍. I speak french m'y friend. You Can make one vidéo How to REC to (PAN 1/PAN 2/PAN 3/PAN 4) please ? And How to reset the Korg D4 digital recorder ? Just picked up one in a pawn shop for AUD119. Wondering what the new alternatives would cost? Don’t see a problem sticking the master into a DAW to match a drum track to it.
Just found your great video... I have a D4 running off a USB powerpack through a voltage converter cable - a great portable effects studio - doing guitar and vocal effects in real time in one box. I love my Zoom PS02 (similar era), but it can only do insert effects on one channel at a time, so not voice and guitar at the same time.
I do have a could of BR600 videos but they are pretty old now. I have another BR600 coming soon so I'll make a more professional video. I love the BR600, looking forward to giving it another go :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts i got mine like a month ago and receive it without any set of instructions and im french soo of you could do a kinda tutorial video that would be nice, im sure im not the only one trying to take out the best of it :)
Wow the D8, my first real recording studio. Haven't seen one of them in a long time. But yep, I'd be happy t do a retrospective, I'll see what's around :)
What I meant was that they're not 'serious' drum beats, they act more 'as' a metronome so that tracks can be recorded with the right feel. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching :)
did you ever find a way to get the built in rhythm saved to the recording? i read about it being bounced to the master but i cant find a way to do this
@@gearfacts i guess the only way to do it is export with the drums on during the master. oh also dumb question but how do you insert effects to a track after you've finished recording if thats even possible
I’m glad you did this so I could come back to it . I just got one from reverb ! Thanks again brother
Glad to be a part of it man 👍
Got one myself. Had a pxr4 before. Really easy, quick to bounce tracks and great for getting guitar ideas down with effects.
What a natty little solution, never heard of it before
Well done ! sounds good to me, hope the one i have ordered s/hand online works as good, have a successful 24' 👍
Cool 😎

From a quick ebay search they look to be going between $75-100usd. Not bad for a mini recording idea notebook! Fun stuff & cool review!
Now is $75 , before was $500 and more...

I think it's only weakness is the lower recording resolution. Great machine, generally.
Suitable resolution to cover my vocal imperfections LOL!!
@@penponds Oh I hear ya
How do I add vox to an existing mix or to a basic track I recorded
Hello Friend, can you make a video how to register in track 1,2,3,4.Os Pans how to register in Pan1 ,Pan2 e.t.c.?

Do you know if the usb can be midi usb - controlled by another midi instrument ?
I wish it could! But no, it’s for computers only.
Does this machince click count off?
Yep it does

can we record the drums
Yes, you can bounce them to the master track. But it sound a bit horrible, better to use some external drum sounds from a synth maybe.
You showed the built in drum beats, not a metronome at all as you called it.
Overall a good demo and review of this unit.

You did not test the internal mike...
Correct, I did not.
Korg should start building new mt recorder again. I own their Korg D12
D12 is good though :) #gearfacts
i need a mic like that do one on the boss br-8
Have I not reviewed the BR-8? I guess it's been a long time since I had one... Zip disks! :) #gearfacts
Hi, thanks for the review. Does it have a loop function per track?
You can set it to play material as a loop but you can't use it like a looper pedal #gearfacts
Now is $75 before was $500 and more...
Worth is for the delay effects alone, and it makes a funky base for a gooseneck mic :)
Someone buying a recorder wants to record music, not make clown sounds.
Ahh but clown sounds are so much fun!
