- It was time to do an organizing check-in and re-organize my Coat Closet. As this is a multipurpose space, it can get a little crazy from time to time especially with the arrival of colder weather. Every now and again, a space you organized before can get a little disorganized and cluttered again for a variety of reasons. This is something you definitely should NOT feel bad about! You're human, you have a life and that life happens! Periodically, you should revisit spaces that were previously organized and reevaluate them to see if your system worked or if some things need to be tweaked. How often you do this depends on how often things tend to go awry and will vary from space to space. I usually like to reevaluate once or twice a calendar year per space.

just a thought for the summer shoes. split them into a box for open toed sandles and one for closed toe shoes. that way in the spring when its still a little too cool for sandles you can just drag out that one box rather than shuffling through a mixed box
Great job! Love your rain boots! We don’t need many coats and winter gear in Virginia so it’s fairly easy to keep our front hall closet neat.
So satisfying! We don't have a coat closet in our 1920s historic home, but we do have a hallway where we can store things.
You know...the hardest part is figuring out how to store winter hats and gloves for the sometimes four of us! There is a kind of console at the front entry with baskets, but I don't love, love it??

Tip: insert those foam pool noodles in your tall boots to keep their shape.
💯 about organizing other people’s stuff . When I was married I always left his stuff alone unless he asked for assistance or for me to donate it goodwill. Glad you were able to repair your 👢 . ❤ closet tidy. I also keep my 🛍️ bags in the truck of the car. When I had my own place I used to have my shopping bags in the kitchen or close to the doorway depending on the apartment. I used to move around a lot in the past.
Really enjoyed this! This is one of those tasks I put off so hard with the heavy coats and always having to clean too. And the spiders since it's right next to the door!! I loved how well your closet looked at the end. Thanks for the nudge Kay

Definitely out of control. I still have stuff from when my kids were in high school stuffed in there, lol. A clean up is definitely on the schedule.
I am sure I have said it before but I don't mind repeating. I do love Baggallini purses and have used them for over a decade. Also yes my coat closet needs some more work.

I forgot I have rain boots 👢 until I saw yours. I have that same shoe/boot mat by my apt door (I don't wear shoes in my home).

Just use flexseal on the boots. Works great!
I use cheap foam pool noodles cut in half or thirds to stuff onto my tall boots…works great and costs almost nothing if you find them on clearance at the end of the summer season 🥰

I really enjoyed this, and found it quite inspiring and relaxing (I don't do many holiday cards anymore, but I did a few while watching). Having moved from L.A. to Portland, I have, indeed, found the coat situation has leveled up a bit (though even L.A. can get *quite* chilly and windy in the winter), because sometimes you need the raincoat, sometimes the sweater, sometimes the warm AND rain-repellent coat, plus the boots, etc. And, yeah, why *haven't* I organized my hats and scarves in a "file drawer" fashion??? Well, as of today, I have, so thanks, Kay!
It's great to want to save spiders but there's a pretty good chance they're not going to survive if you put them outside. They've evolved to live indoors. Everyone can do their own research and make their own decisions on that, of course. Thanks for the tidying inspo!
It took me seven years to muster up the strength to tackle my coat closet. I finally got mad when I couldn’t find my rain boots. My anger overrode my fear and now I can get to everything in the coat closet now. I threw everything out but my rain boots. 🤣
A huge challenge when decluttering is if the stuff is actually ‘nice’ AND you like it but it becomes a “too much stuff” problem. I am currently dealing with this. 😬
Did the same with in this last two months. My one good coat had disappeared. Why i put it folded up on the long sleeve shirt shelf ? I do . not...know. .... LOL ....
Rubber ages and dries out. So your wellies will eventually need to be replaced. But they sure are adorable.

I have that same bug grabber and I don't think it works very well. They always fall out. I'm trying to be better about taking spiders out of my home. I wish there was a solution that worked better than this bug grabber.

We don’t have a coat closet - it would be amazing to have one but not really a thing in the UK - the coats are on a rack in the living room or on backs of chairs. The shoes are in apple crates or the floor in the hallway. The dog stuff lives in the garage 😅 I’m watching this and fantasising about what I’d do if we had one 😂

Boots are a great investment, you can replace soles. & IMHO, you can never have enough boots! I also have not tested positive for covid. Spouse did but I have been covid free up until now.

I’m excited now because I just got a pair of those Sorel winter boots off everything is free and I’m glad to hear they’re good ones (I moved to Boston a few years ago and haven’t found the right snow boots for here yet- maybe the search is over lol)
