Actually he can‘t avoid singing because god makes him sing, he‘s just aware of the situation because he is a celestial being. Also at the end, he used his power, which is desire. So basically if he asks a person what he/she desires they immediately fall in some sort of trance and answer.
He actually isn’t affected. He just can’t help but join in cause he loves singing

Later in the episode, Lucifer and God end up in a therapy session where Lucifer complains about all of the musical numbers. God mentions that despite his complaining about the singing, he could hear Lucifer singing along. Lucifer then yells, "I can't help myself when the music starts, you know that."

Just to add a bit of background, Lucifer was known to be the angel of music before he became the devil. So basically whenever he hears music he starts singing, that's why later on the episode he says "you know I can't help it" (just for a bit of background).
Sinnerman, Creep, and All Along the Watchtower sung by Tom Ellis are all musts!

Seeing Debbie Gibson in this episode was amazing I was a huge fan of hers in the '80s and this duet was awesome.
I didn't realize that was Debbie Gibson until I watched a behind the scenes video. It's great that she still has it!

The actress's real accent is coming out while singing, oddly enough.
I think you are mistaken as Debbie Gibson was born in Brooklyn and grew up about 30 miles away from there. She would in no way be considered Southern.

Both Tom Ellis, and Debbie Gibson, did an awesome job performing this track by Sting, Evey Breath You Take, :-) ,
But I must admit Tom Ellis, was the strongest out of them two whom performed it, :-) .

You should react to Lucifer 1x6 ''Sinnerman'' and Lucifer 4x1 ''Creep''. Those are also really good. If you want to react to a more dance-related segment of Lucifer, I'd really recommend that you watch Lucifer 4x10 opening ''I'm alright''. They don't sing there, but the cheography is on point. It's also a really fun comparison, because *SPOILER* he's depressed at the beginning of S4 hence why he sings a sad song, but in 4x10 he conquered his depression and dances to i'm alright ;)

This was from a interview with sting in UK ..
It wasn't meant to be dark or a love song (both became popular myth's)..it was a tune and some lyrics stuck in his head as he woke at night

In 1991, to UK’s The Independent, Sting spoke of the origins of the song, admitting his own revisionism:
“I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head,” he said, “sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting. It sounds like a comforting love song.”
Then he said:
“I didn’t realise at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, of surveillance and control.”
There is the admission:
“I didn’t realize at the time.” And “.. I think I was thinking…”

According to professor of rock Sting didnt write the song about a stalker. He wrote it while going through a nasty divorce, and it is actually about his soon to be ex.
He did very musical numbers along the series, Creep, I Will Survive, and a few more aside this episode. Since they liked his voice they just decided to use it xD

@@Caprizonica yup the one and only he was thrilled that they had gotten her. I agree she sounded nothing like herself but in the bts on his instagram they did Shallow from a Star is Born and it was amazeballs. He played the guitar and sang in his true voice and it was awesome.

Been watching a bunch of your videos and I'm not even a singer but they've been pretty entertaining to watch. Loved this episode, fantastic singing voice by Tom Ellis. Please check out the Magicians, three episodes come to mind: Season 4 Episode 9 (musical episode, multiple songs), Season 3 Episode 9 (cast sings Under Pressure), or Season 4 Episode 13 (cast sings Take On Me). There are plenty of other examples from the show as well.

I would recommend Flash Ep 17 of Season 3. Grant Gustin (Barry Allen) singing to Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) at the end of the episode. The whole of the episode was awesome but that ending was perfect.

Tom is amazing at duets. He always sounds like he belongs singing with the person he's singing with.
Tom loves falsetto. It's always gonna be his singing choice. He uses it far too much to be coincidence or inability to carry it.

Debbie, pardon me, Deborah Gibson still has it, but my oh my, she and fellow 80s popper Tiffany are getting roles that are, well, rhymes with Scratchy's partner in mayhem.
Deborah was her birth name but it was her record label that wanted to use Debbie. So while under the record label she went by Debbie then started using Deborah now back to Debbie.

No offence, but how does someone who claims to be a vocal coach have no idea who the female singer is?
1) His dad is God, so no he has no choice.
2) Lucifer Morningstar (Satan) is often interpreted to have been as the angel of music prior to his fall from grace... so yes he should be able to sing.
