Great to see you are doing videos again, you were missed! This is a great idea, I haven't seen these in the stores, so will have to keep my eyes peeled. I want one!
i have this and i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! when i was a newbie, it really came in handy to not burn myself when your mind is thinking about 100+ things!
Hey, katcradul!I ordered one of these on eBay as soon as I saw your video. This is only my second year gardening and canning and I am always looking to learn as much as I can. I paid $13.95 for this on eBay but while shopping with my daughter today, I found it new with tags for $1.50! Needless to say, the eBay one is going back! Thanks for all you do.
I have seen those and do plan on getting a couple. Thanks for the review though. Makes me want to pick one up today...lol. Thanks for everything. Take care.
Katz !!!! I'm so happy to "see" you again ! Please tell Prepper A that she is missed too. I hope that you make more videos in the future cause I really missed you.
Had mine for over a year now, don't know what I would do without it, and stains, sure, it happens, but like you said, it's clean, stains happen and that shows we are doing what we have to and like with our work. HUGS
That is the best little gadget! I've had mine for a year or so and I use it all the time. I particularly love it when I do quarts of soups and things that get way too hot to hold.
So glad your back to making videos! I'm going hunting for this! I use the plastic lids all the time, they are a staple in our house. We use them on the 1/2 gallon jars to store our rice and beans that will be eaten in the near future. They look so pretty on the shelf. Ball came up with a winner this time! We start going through our canning jars, lids and other supplies about this time of year so we do get caught with our pants down in the late summer! Greetings from NC!
It's good to have you back! I'm a surgical nurse and I love to hear your sound advice regarding cleanliness and avoiding contamination. You're looking mighty dainty, too!
That is outstanding! I wouldn't care much about the stains with that extra tip you gave us, what a great idea! I will be doing a lot of canning this year, and I will get one of these when I get the lids. I hope to get to the store today too. Thank you so much for sharing this, I really need one, I have poured way too much "fluid" on my hands already, so this is wonderful news. Bless, Sheila
I haven't seen one of these yet -- Yes, that WILL be handy as heck during canning! Now I know to look for 'em. Of course, it made me think, "Why didn't I come up with that idea and patent it!?" LOL
My son got me one of the Jar holders for Christmas. I have to say that it is one of the most useful items I've gotten. I just love it (it probably has nothing to do with the fact that my boy got it for me. lol) I also use the white plastic lids. We drink a lot of ice tea and lemonade so I fill up jars and cap them with those lids and have them in the fridge. It's great when your working in the yard to just grab one and tote it around with you. I think the only reason we drank so much soda was because it was easier and quicker to grab one than to pour out of the pitcher. Glad to see you back!!!
I'm so happy you are posting videos again. I lost track of you for a while, as it seemed you just up and disappeared. I love your videos and all the great information I've learned from watching. That little handigrip hot pad would make a nice stocking stuffer for your favorite canner come the holidays.
I think this is excellent, I've always used a towel wrapped up in 3rds. Then I wrapped it around the jar. It just didn't seem safe to me. This sounds like a better option for me. Thank you so much for showing me something else I can use. A friend out west!
I found them online at Walmart for $7.97 ea. The closest store to me said they only had 6 left and that they're only available for store pickup. I had a ten dollar gift card, so I ordered two and got them for the price of one. I can pick them up today after two pm. I too, am happy to see you back in the saddle!
Thanks for sharing info. I got mine a couple of days ago as well as the wide mouth jar lids you did the video on. The lids are very in expensive and don't have to worry about rust. I'm canning and gardening for the first time this year. TIP: Dollar General has Golden Harvest jar and lid sets for 7.95 for pints and half pints. The quarts are a dollar more from what I remember. These jars are made in USA. Walmart mainstays jars are made in China. I already have some of those and I wondered if you have used any of them and had any trouble when using them? Glad to see your videos again. Missed you!
Oh I would like to have one of those, even for the limited amount of waterbath canning I do. One thing I use to set the hot jars on beside the stove, instead of a folded towel is I have a 2 foot square piece of cork board. If I am only doing like 6 jars of jam I use this small silicone mat instead. But if I am canning tomatoes, both the cork and the silicone mat comes out.
Nice to see you back, Katz! I actually went to your channel on Monday this past week, looking for your dumpling recipe. They came out wonderfully fluffy, and my beau loved them. Looking forward to your new stuff with PrepperA.
Hello: I could have used 1 of those 30 to 40 years ago. After my grandmother filled the jar it was my job to get the lid out of the hot water and put it and the ring on. I used a doubled dish rag, the jars were still very warm. Being able to can is a good skill. Granny said she was in charge of the pressure cooker and I let her.
Just a note, (NRN=No Reply Needed). I have always found your product reviews to be helpful. I have purchased several of the items you recommended and have found them to be beneficial. I actually have this item and I'm going to try the tip on getting my hand inserted. I just want to encourage you to continue these type of videos. The extra details and product analysis you provide is why I watch you channel.
Hi Kat, I just went to amazon and there are a few of these but they say it is discontinued by Manufacture. I went ahead and ordered mine! Was listed as "Jarden Home Brands Ball Secure Grip Hot Jar Handle" May want a second one if this is true!
I feel dumb, and didn't think about letting gravity work for you. I always thought mine was a pain in the butt, having to keep putting it on. LOL ETA I do love it, I've been using it for about 6 months. :)
I have a wonderful sister who is always buying me "gadgets' like this. Got mine last fall! THey are indeed great, and you demoed the reasons i love mine beautifully! I'm sure others will appreciate the usefulness as well. Love JOY
Totally off topic, besides we probably won't be able to get those neat little pot holders/grippers here in Ontario.....I'm wondering if you use your glass top stove for pressure canning or just water bath? I was told that it's not a good idea for pressure canning. Any thoughts on this? Did I tell you how happy I am that you are back?
Maria Basso I use my glass top stove for pressure canning. My 16 QT Presto pressure canner says on box that it is safe to use on this stove. I'm very careful & don't slam it down. Have had no problems. Heavier canners might have a problem. Vida Reich
Maria Basso I do use it with some precautions. I don't every load my canner with more than 7 quarts in order to keep the weight down. I don't slide the canner at all, I carefully lift it. Once the canning time is up, I very carefully move the canner to a cool burner so as not to allow the extreme heat to continue to sit in on area any longer than it has to. I have never had any trouble. I hope this helps.
BECAUSE OF THIS VID OF YPRS, IGOT ME SOME OF THOSE WHITE LIDS FOR BALL JARS AND LOVE THEM FOR STORING STUFF IN FRIDGE. I ALSO GOT A BALL MITT THAT I'M ABOUT TO USE FOR CANNING. I'M GLAD I GOT IT WHEN I DID SINCE THEY HAVE NOW BEEN DISCONTINUED. SO MANY THX FOR GR8 VIDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS.
comment#1 I was tickled to see that you keep your hot pads in the same place I do! Comment #2 What do you think about maybe spraying it with a water-proofer, or scotch gard?
Got one last year, love it. Good to see you back.
I have one of these too. I love it.
I am so happy to see you back sharing your knowledge!!!!!
So glad you are back to videos again. I certainly have missed you.
Excellent idea. I have always used a dish towel for this purpose but this jar gripper looks much better.
Hey, katcradul!I ordered one of these on eBay as soon as I saw your video. This is only my second year gardening and canning and I am always looking to learn as much as I can. You wont believe how excited I was to see a posting from you in my inbox --- I've really missed you.
So glad you're making videos again! I like this new gadget, but would a silicone potholder cut to size work as well?
I love mine. I also love the Ball Ladle. It hooks on the side of the pot. Glad to see you guys back making videos.
Katz I bought some of these lids and I love them. Thanks for the tip!
That is the best little gadget! I've had mine for a year or so and I use it all the time. I particularly love it when I do quarts of soups and things that get way too hot to hold.
yeahhh, you're back! This makes me happy.
I'm so happy to see a new video from you! It has been far too long. I'm hoping for an update on the Gossner's Milk soon. :)
I've seen these at Walmart before. Anyway my Walmart had them.
So glad your back to making videos! I'm going hunting for this! I use the plastic lids all the time, they are a staple in our house. This will be my next purchase for canning supplies.

Glad you gave it a review. I've seen it at Walmarts and wasn't sure I'd really use it much. Thanks.
You could open your own school! Or a training Bed and Breakfast. You know so much. Love your channel.
The spray and wash is a great idea. I have seen those jar holders and thought they would be wonderful.
I love the jar you use for your kitchen utensils. YEAH!! NEW VIDS!
I haven't seen one of these yet -- Yes, that WILL be handy as heck during canning! Now I know to look for 'em. Of course, it made me think, "Why didn't I come up with that idea and patent it!?" LOL
Michigansnowpony I thought the EXACT same thing! One day I'll get the jump on a great idea. It won't come too soon!
My son got me one of the Jar holders for Christmas. I have to say that it is one of the most useful items I've gotten. Best canning gadget ever and welcome back!!!
Sure glad to see you making videos again! You were missed. So was Prepper A!
I'm so happy you are posting videos again. I lost track of you for a while, as it seemed you just up and disappeared. I love your videos and all the great information I've learned from watching. I saw one of those ..but didn't get it.....I think I will get one next time I go to Walmart....
Thanks for sharing and tell Prepper A .....HI .....
Totally off to the hardware store to get one.
I sprayed mine with water repelant and it works great
I think this is excellent, I've always used a towel wrapped up in 3rds. Then I wrapped it around the jar. It just didn't seem safe to me. This sounds like a better option for me. Thank you so much for showing me something else I can use. A friend out west!
I've looked at this at Walmart and wondered if it would be useful. Might just have to get one now.
I have two. I love them.

Glad to see you are back also. Just saw that Susan had a new video out. Now all we need is Deb and we'll be set.
Hope your health is doing OK.
Thank you for sharing
I read on Amazon that the manufacturer is discontinuing them. So stock up
@ Wally world. Thanks Sister Katzcradul!

+ShalimarPerfume The cork board is a great idea.
I purchase one of these last year and i love it. I have purchase a second one just in case i miss place the first one.
Awesome, I am getting one,Thanks so much for sharing this!!!!!!
Welcome back! Its been too long since I have seen one of your videos.
Nice to see you back, Katz! I actually went to your channel on Monday this past week, looking for your dumpling recipe. They came out wonderfully fluffy, and my beau loved them. Looking forward to your new stuff with PrepperA.
MsKestrela I'm so glad you liked the dumpling recipe. PrepperA and I have a HUGE surprise video planned. I hope you'll like it.
katzcradul I LOVE surprises! I will be eagerly looking forward to it!
Already great tips!!!!!! Joan
Thanks for sharing!
I use a double or triple layer of work gloves to hold hot jars. The one with no skid dots work best.
I have one and I find myself using it to open pickle jars too.
+msramona60 Excellent idea to let it help you grip jars for opening them.
Awesome!
Maybe you can spray it with a stain guard prior to first using it.
Great idea! Thanks!

I feel dumb, and didn't think about letting gravity work for you. I always thought mine was a pain in the butt, having to keep putting it on. LOL

Vida Reich Thank you Vida, This has been troubling me I will certainly keep this in mind.
katzcradul Of course, makes sense, if used with caution and some common sense, one could use a glass top stove for pressure canning. Thanks.
Maria Basso You can find them at Wal-Mart in the canning supply section or possibly on their website.
I have this; it works good
We got one of these and love it.

According to Amazon these have been discontinued by Ball so get them while you can.
Vicky Crowley I just found them on the Ball canning site for $10.95. www.freshpreserving.com
Scotch guard it to keep it clean.
I wonder if we can use a scotch guard on it and rinse in between
Off topic but the crock on your counter is very pretty.
+This Old Homestead Thanks. I've had it for probably 25 years.
Do you can on your glass top stove? I've heard some do and some don't. What's your opinion on it?
The preachers wife Yes, see the answer I gave Maria Basso just above your comment. I'll make a video on this subject soon.
did you buy this at your grocery store or order it online??
+Laura Carpenter Walmart, Laura.
Maybe scotchguard?
