    This was very good, a lot better then other ones I’ve watched you’ve earned a sub. I have two questions, 1: what is your preferred method of applying thermal paste for a ps3? And 2: how did you make the hole and filter for the fan on your ps3? Thank you again for the awesome video

    • @themechanic9841

      Glad you enjoyed and thanks for subscribing. Q1) I just don't see any differences with the methods of application , there is negligible to no difference in the way you apply until the full chip is coverd with thermal paste , I just put a drop in the centre and the 4 corners as you can see from the video...

    • @themechanic9841
      @themechanic9841  4 роки тому +5

      Now for q.2 I will make a video on it , I cannot make it now bcoz the PlayStation is not with me , I do not have any drilling machine etc to drill the hole , all I did was took a metal Bowl with the circumference a bit bigger than the fan and heated the ends with the cooking stove ,and took a wet cloth and held the bowl and pressed it towards the PlayStation ,I had marked the circle where I wanted the hole to be so it could be right above the fan , There are many things that should be taken care of while doing , which I will show in my video. . And the filter was just the net from the mosquito bat ( a bat that zaps and kills mosquitos)

    Hello again! Can I ask you again if you don't mind? My English is not good but i'll try my best to explain. So when i opend my ps3 super slim i found some weird white stains or residues it you want to call them that. Anyway i particularly found them in the bottom cover under those four ports in the back and on the metal surface or cover of those ports, and also a little bit on that black chip in the motherboard Infront of those four ports. So the thing is: these stains when being wet they seem to have gone, but after they dry out, they appear once again! You have like to scratch them to get rid of them so I only did the surrounding stains of the four ports and did not touch that one black chip. So at the end could that one chip cause malfunctions and what to do in order to clean it, And that's it thank in advance.

      I think those are just flux from soldering, if there has not been any type of liquid damage . You can use isopropyl alchol to clean those stains and an earbud .

    • @themechanic9841
      @themechanic9841  4 роки тому +1

      The air intake on the PS3 is little so by making a hole on top we increase the airflow inside and therefore more air goes out of the system making it run cooler. The VRAM chips do not come with thermal pads like on the PS4 , so I don't think there is a need for that, lastly thank you for watching!!

      All did was take a metal Bowl the size of a fan. Make a mark on the top cover after removing it from the PS3 with tht bowl and pencil.then I took the bowl and kept it on the cooking stove and let it heat up. Then I took a cloth folded it so it's thick and drenched it in water nd then I held the bowl and put it on top of the cover and pushed it with some force, make sure u heat it enough because you have only one chance you cannot heat it again because it will get stuck on the PS3. Mine got stuck because it took time and what I did was took a hammer and turned the PS3 inside out so I could see the bowl half way in, and I hammered gently in the middle so the plastic came out , and then gently kept hitting the bowl so that too came out.then I filed it's circumference so I can still slide the disc drive door..

      When my PS3 starts freezing all o do is boot into safe mode with my controller plugged in to PS3 via USB cable and hit REBUILD DATABASE, and then once that is done I boot into safe mode again and hit RESTORE FILE SYSTEM . Remember don't click on any other options exept the ones I told or you PS3 may get factory reset .This should fix your freezing problem

    • @themechanic9841

      And now for your controller , first turn on your PS3 ,then connect the controller to that PS3 via usb and when you turn your controller to the back you will see a small hole ,on the side of the L1 and L2 button. That is a reset button. You have to take something small like a pin and press the button you will know that you pressed the button as you will feel a click if you don't then your pressing the mother board adjust again, once you press ,hold it there for 5 seconds and then release it after that press on the ps button and if the led lights on the controller stops blinking and becomes on controller 1 then remove the usb from the controller . And it should connect with your PS3

    Damn.... I found my motherboard filled with corrosion! Can I restore it using pure alcohol?

      U can get the surface rust clean , if it's too deep it's best not to do anything , espically if its on the motherbord .

    bruh you shouldn’t have to bend the CPU pressure plate… you should have to leave it by default

      @@themechanic9841 yeah, is it necessary though? Because it's pretty risky and you could instantly kill your console.

      The ihs is pretty necessary , it increases the cpu surface area and there by rescues thermals , but if u have the ihs removed , you can replace the thermal paste and place it back, it will provide better cooling.
