I'm surprised you didn't mention the subtle difference between "can" and "can't" The "t" in can't is barely pronounced by native speakers, but to help differentiate between the two, the "a" in "can" is practically silent. So if you hear "I can believe" it was probably "I CAN'T believe." If you hear "I KN believe" it was "I can believe". Don't take my word for it. If you listen to any native speaker saying "I can't" Even if you play it back slowly, you'll likely not hear the "T" but the "A" is definitely pronounced. But if you playback a native speaker saying "I can" You'll barely hear the "a" The only time you hear the "a" in "can" is if it comes at the end of a sentence or if the speaker is emphasising the word. This rule is even followed by British English. Even though our accent is quite different.
I confused and totally not understanding while people speaking long sentence or long continuous speech. Even cant guess the clue what they are talking about. Please support teacher. Thank you very much for your kind sharing.
It s, becauase comunication Is More than "clues" as food Is more than a meal. Why do we choose a lot of meals If we can use just few ones in order to feed our body? Just to help undestanding!
Most listening practice videos are in a slow pace but when I listen to a real conversation by native in real life, I can barely understand as they usually speak very fast! This video really helps me recognize some ambiguous pronounces which I was always confused in. Thank you Jennifer!
I moved to Canada almost 2 years ago; I will my high school In April next year (2024), and I plan to go to the university. All your videos are super helpful. Thank You. Happy Thanksgiving! Debesay, Form Toronto.
Yes, yes and yes! To my opinion it is a little bit difficult to get used to saying like you. To speak like native speakers, this needs a lot of practice! Wishing you to make more videos as such! Thanks from my ❤️!
I love it your class. My english it's not good and is dificult for me I understand you totally yet, but with you I hope to reach advanced level. Thanks you so much Jennifer
I'm from Brazil and I'm studying English. I can say with complete vehemence that these classes really boosted my learning and understanding of the language. Even if we don't understand the pronunciation at first, her explanation is very enlightening. These classes metaphorically removed cotton swabs from my ears. She's the best...!
I have problems with grammar subject complement, only you can explain easier for the student to understand , if you can teaching this area will be so good ….. I love everything you have been teaching, thank you again
I am Vietnamese, I love to learn English with you. All lessons are very useful and up to date. I really enjoy listening and advanced vocabulary. Hope you will have more videos like this ❤🎉
I understand pretty well when someone talks to me, but unfortunately I don't speak so well as I understand, so teacher I don't know if you've done some videos about how to speak fluently with a foreign, if you have done, I'd love to see some hints for improve my spoken English.
How many times do you recommend us watching these videos with these expressions? because it's a bit difficult to memorize everything. if we don't need to see it more than twice, what technique do you recommend?
Jennifer have you heard about the tragic earthquake in Morocco 🇲🇦 it broke my heart! can you make a video lesson about the vocabulary relating to earthquakes. Thank you so much for this new listening exercise 😊 On Friday, September 8th, 2023, a devastating earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale struck the southern regions of Morocco, particularly impacting impoverished and mountainous areas near Marrakesh and Taroudante. This catastrophic event has resulted in widespread destruction, with the death toll tragically exceeding 2000 victims, and the number of wounded individuals reaching approximately 2500, including more than 1000 who are in critical condition. These figures continue to climb as more victims are discovered beneath the rubble. In the aftermath of this disaster, survivors find themselves in dire circumstances, spending their nights exposed to the elements without access to shelter, food, or clean water. In this challenging time, Morocco urgently requires increased humanitarian assistance, not only from neighboring countries but also from international organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and other entities committed to providing crucial aid to those affected by this devastating earthquake.
