    THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
    What is the gospel?
The word gospel literally means “good news” and occurs 93 times in the Bible, exclusively in the New Testament. In Greek, it is the word euaggelion, from which we get our English words evangelist, evangel, and evangelical. The gospel is, broadly speaking, the whole of Scripture; more narrowly, the gospel is the good news concerning Christ and the way of salvation.
The key to understanding the gospel is to know why it’s good news. To do that, we must start with the bad news. The Old Testament Law was given to Israel during the time of Moses (Deuteronomy 5:1). The Law can be thought of as a measuring stick, and sin is anything that falls short of “perfect” according to that standard. The righteous requirement of the Law is so stringent that no human being could possibly follow it perfectly, in letter or in spirit. Despite our “goodness” or “badness” relative to each other, we are all in the same spiritual boat-we have sinned, and the punishment for sin is death, i.e. separation from God, the source of life (Romans 3:23). In order for us to go to heaven, God’s dwelling place and the realm of life and light, sin must be somehow removed or paid for. The Law established the fact that cleansing from sin can only happen through the bloody sacrifice of an innocent life (Hebrews 9:22).
The gospel involves Jesus’ death on the cross as the sin offering to fulfill the Law’s righteous requirement (Romans 8:3-4; Hebrews 10:5-10). Under the Law, animal sacrifices were offered year after year as a reminder of sin and a symbol of the coming sacrifice of Christ (Hebrews 10:3-4). When Christ offered Himself at Calvary, that symbol became a reality for all who would believe (Hebrews 10:11-18). The work of atonement is finished now, and that’s good news.
The gospel also involves Jesus’ resurrection on the third day. “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). The fact that Jesus conquered sin and death (sin’s penalty) is good news, indeed. The fact that He offers to share that victory with us is the greatest news of all (John 14:19).
The elements of the gospel are clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, a key passage concerning the good news of God: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living.” Notice, first, that Paul “received” the gospel and then “passed it on”; this is a divine message, not a man-made invention. Second, the gospel is “of first importance.” Everywhere the apostles went, they preached the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Third, the message of the gospel is accompanied by proofs: Christ died for our sins (proved by His burial), and He rose again the third day (proved by the eyewitnesses). Fourth, all this was done “according to the Scriptures”; the theme of the whole Bible is the salvation of mankind through Christ. The Bible is the gospel.
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16). The gospel is a bold message, and we are not ashamed of proclaiming it. It is a powerful message, because it is God’s good news. It is a saving message, the only thing that can truly reform the human heart. It is a universal message, for Jews and Gentiles both. And the gospel is received by faith; salvation is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The gospel is the good news that God loves the world enough to give His only Son to die for our sin (John 3:16). The gospel is good news because our salvation and eternal life and home in heaven are guaranteed through Christ (John 14:1-4). “He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3-4).
The gospel is good news when we understand that we do not (and cannot) earn our salvation; the work of redemption and justification is complete, having been finished on the cross (John 19:30). Jesus is the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2). The gospel is the good news that we, who were once enemies of God, have been reconciled by the blood of Christ and adopted into the family of God (Romans 5:10; John 1:12). “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). The gospel is the good news that “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
To reject the gospel is to embrace the bad news. Condemnation before God is the result of a lack of faith in the Son of God, God’s only provision for salvation. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:17-18). God has given a doomed world good news: the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

@@RepentfollowJesus hello. Your response highlights the problem with the modern translation “bibles” and just how dangerous they are. I want to share with you (and everyone) something that I have discovered a while ago during my journey with Christ. Let me first preface this by saying a few things..... This may sound a bit offensive to some at first. I hope not, but it might. I say that because I too took offense when someone first mentioned this to me. Please reserve judgment for a bit and let me explain. It has to do with Bible translations.
When I first began my walk with Christ, I was perplexed with the MANY different translations. I eventually settled on the NASB. It is the translation that a very well known and respected Pastor that I follow uses at his church, and one that is supposed to be among the “most literal translations”. Sounded good enough for me, so thats what I began using as my “go-to”. I also chose to compliment that with a NIV study Bible and a NKJV study Bible......
Now..... Fast forward a bit. One day I came across someone in my travels, and the topic of Bible translations came up. I quickly discovered that he was a member of the “dreaded” “King James Only” group. I had never come across this group before, and it honestly seemed a bit cultish to me at first. He began to tell me how all the “modern translations” had been corrupted and altered, and that the ONLY pure and true English translation was the King James. My response to him was something along the lines of.....
“That’s ridiculous! There are a lot of legitimate translations. Many of them just have updated language that make it easier for a modern reader to understand”
He went on to explain how even my beloved NASB and NIV (and many others) had been corrupted by unscrupulous translators and so forth. He continued, and said that even the New King James has been altered, and has dangerously changed Gods Truth.
Ok..... So now I’m thinking that this guy must be crazy....... But I thought about it for a while. I then purposed in my heart that I wanted, above all else, the TRUTH. If what he was saying to me was actually true, I wanted to know about it, and it was worth the time it took me to find out! I decided to do some research on this topic. The short answer to what I discovered is that he was, in fact, CORRECT!
There is a lot of VERY compelling evidence that the modern translations are, in part, corrupt and HAVE BEEN altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine.
To quote Matthew 13:28 “an enemy hath done this”
Now I’m not going to try to convince you of this. But I do want to DESPERATELY URGE you to diligently take the time to look into this. Don’t brush this off as I almost did! Purpose it in your heart to seek Gods truth in this matter, no matter where it takes you! I promise you, it WILL BE worth it!
I STRONGLY urge you to get and read the book “51 Reasons Why The King James: A Path From Doubt To Faith” by David W. Daniels.
Seriously, everyone needs to read this book!!! It’s only $4.99 for the Kindle version on Amazon! About $17 with shipping if you want the paperback.
**Also, MUST READ “New Age Bible Versions: An Exhaustive Documentation of the Message, Men & Manuscripts Moving Mankind to the Antichrist's One World Religion “ by G. A. Riplinger. **
      It WILL change your mind!!!!!
These books offer TONS of COMPELLING evidence to the King James Only stance!
I can now say, without reservation, I am unapologetically a member of the King James Only group. After seeing the evidence in favor of that position, I can’t in good conscience go back. I just can’t. At times, I literally felt sick to my stomach as I saw how some passages of the modern translations have been altered, and the implications that those changes have.
In the same way that when I came to know Christ, I felt compelled to tell others about the gospel, I now feel absolutely compelled to share this information with my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is SO IMPORTANT because there is SO MUCH error in people’s theology and it is being perpetuated by CORRUPT translations.
On a side note, I used to think the King James was difficult to read. It absolutely is not! It’s beautiful, and I have never felt closer to Jesus during my Bible time, then I do while reading from The King James!
Kindly consider my words. I hope this reaches each of you well!
      It WILL change your mind!!!!!

      Salvation is by grace.

*_Believers_* get the grace. Believers are those who (like Abraham, see James 2:20-24) act on their faith and obey God. Otherwise, faith is DEAD.

Peter makes it clear: come to repentance, or else perish:

True faith invokes something deeper. He is correct it is by faith alone. Now only God knows your heart but He did give you a scale to measure if you truly beleive. Faith without works is dead. Matthew 7:21‐23 speaks about doing the will of God. 1 John 3:1‐6 also goes into us continuing in wilful sin. That will be your indicator. Now repentance can be weak as Paul Washer states. God can build on that. This is sanctification to were we continue in our repentance. Doesn't happen overnight (if it does amen!!) but through time of learn God's will and Him restoring you. Mainly because sin is addicting and like any addict you need to detox from it. Heal, rest... Be still and know that I am God (Psalms 46:10)

You cannot exclaim faith in Jesus and return to your wilful sinning like a dog returns to his vomit. Believe and obey. I encourage you to look to scripture on this. You need to understand what faith is and what it means to put faith in Christ Jesus. A Roman soldier had more faith in Jesus than the disciples because he understood authority and believed. A woman stricken with bleeding touched his cloak and was healed by faith. We of little faith... faith demands action because faith without action is dead.

When speaking of works. My thoughts goto a sense of works in a pre-justification and post-justification. One keeps us separated from God as this is not a requirement for salvation but only by faith in Christ when he calls on us. The other makes us holy through the process of sanctification and is required as proof of fruit in the Spirit as it is the Holy Spirit which sanctification comes from. To which can be our testimony of change / becoming a new creation in Christ.
Let me try it again, turning to God to be justified for salvation is a 90° turn. The next 90° turn determines if the first turn was by faith or by works. Faith will draw you closer to God which is a 180° for glorification. Turning back to your willful sin means you are dead in your works and there was no faith.
The caveat is when saved you will want to do good works. It becomes a desire of gratitude, knowing your unworthiness, it is because of Him not you. You will be conscious to sin / sensitive to it that you will want it removed from everything in your life (sanctification)

Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ and his finished work ALONE. What is shown to prove you genuinely have faith in him is that there is fruit in your life. Doing good things will never save, but obeying the Lord and serving others from a place of love BECAUSE you have faith in Christ and have been saved shows your faith is genuine. This really shouldn’t be a hot topic. If you say you have faith in Christ yet there isn’t ANY fruit of that in your life, you are lying. Also, if you say you trust in Christ yet you actually rely on all the works and efforts you do like the people in Matthew 7:21-23 who didn’t have relationship with God but relied on their works for salvation you also are wrong.

St James makes it clear where why should be placed. (james 2:24)
As does St Paul (rom 3:31)
I think a better question for you is what is faith in Jesus Christ.
      *You say*
Those in Matthew 7 relied on their works, to which Christ said he never knew them and therefore they were condemned.
      *Response*
As I mentioned it is only because they relied on their past works to be saved, the allowed us themselves turn to iniquity to sin.
The works being done were not sin as Jesus himself asked that we believe him form this very type of work
but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” (John 10:38)

This is because our garment of righteousness has been made clean and we have not defiled it with sin
If you read John letter what he has written you will see we know we have eternal life because we obey God , this is who believers are this is who Children of God are.
Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves the child.

Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?”
Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me. (John 14:20-24)

Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. (rom 3:31)
And in Galations I have also shown you he told us to have eternal life we must keep the Law of Christ, walk in the spirit and reap of Good works. (Gal 6:1-10)

St Paul is saying animal sacrifice is like paying to be able to sin.
That is why he goes on to speak of King David who was Blessed and forgiven without animal sacrifice,

      *response*
I always find it interesting when this book is use to Prove eternal salvation or OSAS for it we see even St Paul did not assume this was his but something to strive towards.
Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith; that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, *that if possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.*
*Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.*
Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you.
Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

Anyone who says they have faith in Christ yet doesn’t have fruit to show for it, shows they aren’t a genuine believer. That was the crux of James’s letter. Paul made it clear that salvation is reliant upon God’s grace being extended through faith in Christ, and he also stated that since we are new creatures in Christ we are called to live as Jesus lived. We have enteral life now and we have the down payment of our future inheritance, the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:14) living in us. Your good works can never save you, your righteousness is like filthy rags to God and no person will be justified before God by the law for all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. The only way to be saved is to place in your faith in Christ's death and resurrection. God sent His beloved Son to die for you in your place for your sins. If you place your faith in Him you will be saved, forgiven, and given the perfect righteousness of Christ credited to your account. And you will be born into God's family and start a new relationship Him, as He continues to perfect you and guide you until the day you die.

The video you commented on is titled salvation is by faith.
      This is a fact.
Your comment implies that we are not only saved by faith but by works…
. As in the old testament < Lol. You all caught up now lil buddy? You see why i mentioned the OT cause your mind is stuck on old testament salvation due to lack of context in the verse you took from james in the nt..
So seeing that james is an apostle.. teacher of christ … he NEVER states works gain’s salvation
He simply states it iN CONTEXT AS a natrual symptom of faith in a believer..
Meanwhile the entire NT which is the covenant of christ.. obviously. Shows faith is the ONLY REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION.
So you are confused i get it reading and taking the bible in context is overlooked by so many people who reas the gospel
brother i wish you actually get to read the NT again cover to cover and start to realize Jesus is the Christ and all that was (REQUIRED) for salvation is faith in the christ (annointed ones) sacrifice on the cross
Any verse you read with works in the nt is a product of life as a believer.
So im telling you to get rid of your OT mindset
Not everyones works will look the same and everyone still will sin and fall short as the bible states.
using common sense shows that obviously works can NOT gain salvation, if we are in a constant day to day reality of being sinners.. every last one of us.
idk how you got mistaken by my comment but to dumb it down for you brother i am simply saying you are under belief that the old law of the Old Testament is still in place because of a verse in the NT that speaks of symptoms of faith as a believer…
In reality we are saved by grace through faith and anyone who has faith is counted for righteousness… as the bible states
      Hopefully you can comprehend that
Good luck studying the covenant we are in through christ and let that old testament salvation that no human can live up to leave your brain.
Hope you dont mislead yourself into hell man.
God wants you to be in the kingdom and you just have to have faith in him, the gospel and listen to the REQUIRMENT that God has given us all.
If you have Any confusion left as to what i am saying just ask, it makes you look argumentative for the wrong reasons.
Remember the key of speaking of any of this is to gain souls into the kingdom of heaven and to clarify how we are actually saved stated by the holy bible.
Feel free to reply with any other verses you may take out of context and if you need help understanding the difference between what is required and what is wanted by us lmk
      Remember required means MUST DO
Wanted means what is desired from us..
      Big difference.

Exactly. “Faith alone” will get you nowhere. Jesus is
      ■ “the author of eternal salvation unto all them that *_obey_* him” (Hebrews 5:9)
True *_believers_* (like Abraham) are those who act on their faith and obey God. Otherwise faith is DEAD.
What are we told to do?
      ■ “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent” (Acts 17:30)
Follow directions, and we’ll receive His promised mercy:
      ■ “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13)
And we’ll receive the holy spirit:
      ■ “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that *_obey_* him.” (Acts 5:32)
      ■ “Then Peter said unto them, *_Repent,_* and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)
Otherwise we’ll perish, without mercy, without redemption. We’ll pay our own death penalty for sin. That’s why Jesus warned,
      ■ “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Jesus, in Luke 13:5)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God- not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:8-10
Salvation is by grace of God, but it isn’t faith alone. Faith alone doctrine is false.
What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?* If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. But some one will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe-and shudder. Do you want to be shown, you foolish fellow, that faith apart from works is barren? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God.
