I can think of some uses for fire ants... but I shan't say on here... they'll probably arrest me.

I had a fire ant hill i florida that I wanted to see how big it was, so I shoved an over 9 foot branch into it almost all of the way. Justshy of having three inches sticking out because I didn't want to get my hand any closer. Luckily it had just rained and gas was cheap in 09.🔥

It does work but it stinks to HIGH HEAVEN!!!! I have tried Spectracide Triazicide but you have water it in or put it down before a rain and it works well also.
Been using Amdro for years but seems to only work about 75% of the time. Will definitely check out that Ortho Orthene! Thanks for sharing👍🏻

Hey PawPaw I have a cheaper solution borax ! Might not be as quick but then theres no other harmful ingredients and environmental hazards. Keeps your dogs and chickens safe ❤

Try usong the specricide from home depot. That what use down here in Florida, the capital of fire ant country,! Works faster
You're not the only one who ain't got no used for fire ants! More than a couple o' bites and I have to get some benadryl, the swelling ain't good if I don't. Never had the throat close up but dang, tender places swelling don't feel good. (No, not there... like around the lips and the bottoms of the feet.) I have some of this stuff, it's good. Haven't had to use it as often here in TN as I did in Louisiana, thankfully!
We use diatomaceous earth. Healthier. Works good on keeping spruce bark beetles away.
I tried that to keep the little flies / gnats out of my mushroom bags....
It worked at first...then it didn't.
they don't eat much anyway
DE doesn't get rid of Fire Ants for me, I've tried several applications. What kind of works is Orange Oil. People have recommended Orthene, I hate using toxic chemicals like that, but I hate Fire Ants even more. lol

I've got the stuff that has to be watered in. I didn't think much about it but it's a pain in the rear (actually the arm) to haul a gallon of water to each ant hill. One good thing is it's cheap. I'll probably get Orthene after I use up the other stuff.

I think the streetlights in Hershey are AWESOME and when the air is right you can smell the cocoa !! It is a long term chicken feed dispenser.
I saw some ants crawling around when you were digging around in that mound after you had treated it. There weren't as many but there were some. I use Bifen IT, and i think it works better than what you used. Still haven't decided if it kills them or they just move, but the net day you will not see an ant in the mound! One ounce per gallon of water in a pump up sprayer.

I use Ortho fire ant granules in Texas. I use a spreader then have to water it. No human or pet can touch it until after it dries. But it works for 30 days. Then I have to do it all again.

I've tried this in the past and all they did was move to another part of the yard. I didn't have any fire ants when I bought my house. But after a hurricane hit us about eight years ago a large mound was built around a street sign. Soon as the town knocked it down they moved into my yard and it's been a war between me and fire ants ever since. I used the product the same way you did . Guess I'm gonna have to Retreat the mounds day after day for awhile in order to kill them all. But I have neighbors who don't attempt to kill the ants. He just throws them by hitting the mounds with his mower.
