    Happy new year to the whole team at SOI! You are doing a wonderful job! Please know that your work brings positiveness to many people - it does not go unnoticed and makes a difference. I admire your team spirit and collaboration and appreciate the Vlogs (love that they are down to earth and real - so relatable). I don't have many friends who sew regularly, so following your work allows me to be inspired, encouraged and learn. Hope you don't mind me sharing my disappointment to see the VIP club disappear - it was a secret highlight for me (it made me feel 'special' and I kept the free pattern for a guilt-free gift to myself even though I purchased other patterns throughout the year before using the coupon ;-) Looking forward to what the year brings

    Hi Rosie, I found Sew Over It through Sarah Naomi’s UA-cam channel. Post-pandemic, with baby boomers retiring and inflation driving up costs, there are real opportunities for indie pattern companies. I found sewing to be both fun and practical. Using a pattern, I made five fleece jackets for my family (one for me, my husband, my kid, grandma and grandpa) at just $10 each, compared to $50-$100 if bought new-such great value! I started sewing in July 2024, and by December, I was making holiday blankets, grocery bags, and PJs as gifts. Everyone loved the handmade items! I hope more people discover the joy of sewing in 2025. Happy New Year 🎊. You and your team are doing a great job!!

    I loved listening to you Rosie
    I'm excited to what is coming this year. I am usually late to the party
    I just bought gha Margo pattern and excited to make that up in different fabrics.
    I'm looking forward to what you're putting in the e- book. I've never bought one before because I haven't liked all the patterns enough.
    Happy new year everyone.

    I'm so glad to hear that you are slowing down on pattern releases. I would much rather have a lovely, clever new design that takes a few months to get out, instead of a monthly pattern, especially since I am not a super fast sewist. I can't wait to see what you are so excited to design for us to sew!

    Happy new year Rosie and team 🎉 you are doing a wonderful job in steering Sew Over It in a different direction. Lisa’s shoes are very hard to fill but it’s lovely to see you achieving this and more. Good luck with all your plans for 2025 and I for one cannot wait to see them all! 🎉❤

    My goodness, I had no idea of the stresses of running a small business. I have followed Lisa from the start and have always admired the company. I loved the vintage vibe and I would love to see some return. Also I bought so many of the early paper patterns and I miss that so much. I know PDFS are more cost effective but I would happily pay more for a paper pattern. Am I on my own in thinking this? You have had a tough year but you can still laugh about it, hopefully this year will be better. It’s lovely to hear of the strangers who helped you in your hour of need. There are so many good folk out there. Good luck Rosie!

    Happy New Year and congratulations on your first year in charge of SOI. When I returned to sewing properly 3 years ago, it was Stitch School that set me on the right track and taught me how to sew with jersey for the first time. I moved on to trousers and dresses regaining my sewing confidence thanks to the excellent patterns and tutorials.I love all the patterns you have introduced this year and can’t wait to see what you have planned for 2025 - you have smashed it so far, so I am excited to continue following all the new developments. Thank you for your hard work - what a great team you all make.

    Brilliant video. I think you're very wise reducing your input with the Big Sew Off. I'd love to see you design a long coat pattern, to cover all my jersey dresses but doesn't look like a dressing gown - just an idea 😊 x

    Wonderful roundup Rosie, appreciate your honesty about the challenges but still you and the team continue to be so positive and inspiring. You definitely make me feel like one of the gang! I'm really glad that you can continue to grow SOI while steering it in a direction that gives you better personal balance.
    I'm very excited for a new ebook, I have 2 and they're such a great investment!
    Here's to a great 2025 🎉

    Hi Rosie. I am a small business owner and have been for 30 years but since the pandemic my business has never bounced quite back to where it was and like you, I feel the last year has been so tough. So my sympathies go to you and your team. However, I really like what your team are doing and I love your team videos. I particularly liked the one you did comparing all your shirt dress patterns and would love to see more of these ‘category’ comparison videos. Well done for what you have achieved this year! Diana

    Happy new year Rosie. I thought this blog was really interesting and clear. I love Sew over it as it I holds so many memories for me from returning to sewing after a long gap.One thing I miss is paper patterns. I always buy these when I can. Is there any chance that you can do one occasionally? When you first put out the call for pattern insiders I wasn’t well enough to apply but if there is another opportunity I would like to become one, especially as I think you said once before that you don’t have to make every pattern. I’m not sure if that’s right. I did also love it when you stocked fabrics(. I know you do when you put a kit together.) many thanks for this vlog and I wish you every success in the new year. 😊your tales of the knit & stitch festivals were entertaining but also so real behind the polished final result. I hope to come in March so will hopefully say Hello. Best wishes, Ruthx

    Thank you for the insight into how a small company works. I'm really interested in capsule pieces for my wardrobe which can be used flexibly but together. Good luck for next year.

    I was lucky enough to grow up with sewing and knitting being a very big thing in the home. It continues to be a joy and sometimes earning money. Passing it on to daughters and grand children. Happy New Year.

    I used to love when the patterns suggested the fabrics that soi sold, I must admit I preferred it when you sold fabrics. I understand to have so much in stock is not viable but to me that what I would browse for I love a vintage vibe which I thought made soi unique.

      @SewOverIt  19 днів тому

      Ah yes, we used to love selling fabric too but it's just not possible at the moment, but in a way our Kits have taken that job, we try to offer a selection of our favourite fabrics for one particular pattern at a time. However, we are not excluding the possibility of some more SOI fabrics in the future so watch this space! x

    Happy New Year to the fabulous Sew Over It Team 🎉. What an amazing 2024 you’ve had full of so much stuff as always! I definitely think quality over quantity works well. There have been so many extra details gone in to the patterns which have elevated the makes ❤. I’ve been so pleased with my finished makes in 2024. Your kits that come out with new patterns has been one of my favourite things and such good value for money. I actually get straight on to making them rather than sitting in my stash like so many other things 😂. Wishing you all the success in 2025 and can’t wait to see what’s coming 😊

    Thanks for this vlog and all if the vlogs this year which i have really enjoyed. You and your team are great and the content you make around your patterns is awesome and very inspiring. From this inch phobic sewist, maybe it wouldn’t be toooooooo time intensive to update the sizing in cms? That’d have me even more eager to buy and use SOI patterns - especially since you’ve taken over and the patterns seem more up my street. Xxx

    • @SewOverIt
      @SewOverIt  19 днів тому +1

      Hello! We have started doing the sizing in both metric and imperial on our newest patterns and eventually we'll get round to updating all the size charts 🙂 Have a look at something like our recent Hettie Dress, you'll see the size charts are metric first then imperial. Hopefully that helps! x

    I’ve had one critique when I try to watch sew over it vlogs but I could never put it into words. The aesthetic is missing. The curtain behind the 3 of you is uninspiring. Maybe try a personal inspiring background with one of you at a time explaining your new make and then come all together on couches chatting about the experience and pattern. I feel too uncomfortable watch the three of you talking all at once that I always turn them off. But I want to support your small business and you three ladies are amazing on your own I’d like to see it just done differently.
