I only know this song because I looked after an elderly man that was deteriorating mentally and he would always ask Alexa to play this song - I found the song so beautiful I shazamed it and it’s been one of my favourite songs since.
I am so blessed to be old enough to have seen James all over the state of Georgia growing up...at the Aquarama on Jekyll Island, at Seldon Park in Brunswick, at Soul City in Atlanta and at the Savannah Civic Center....world's all time greatest showman!
Mr Brown is well known all over the world. I have listened to the incredible Mr. James Brown all my life and know the words to all his songs because my mother is a great fan and had several of his albums. I remember being about 9 and singing say it loud I'm black and I'm proud. I'm glad the movie brought his amazing talent to people who were not as familiar. His musical legacy will always be remembered.
Arlene Owens One of the greatest shows I ever saw was very late in his career in Muskegon, MI. He couldn't do the splits but still did a tremendous job. I saw Ray Charles during the 11 day event. Like many others, watching the movie brought me here to listen to that song one more time. What a talent!!!!!!!

his lyrics weren't always the best with a few exceptions
but the soul and feeling he put into his music wins me over, he put his everything into the song. i saw him live at wembley in 1986 and remember he needed help getting off the stage as he almost passed out after this song. he put so much into it

James Brown is THE funk master. Impossible to get a rawer & nastier sound he offered with his fellows Maceo, Fred, Pee Wee, Clyde, Jabo, Sweet, Bootsy, Pinckney, Nolan, Catfish and others, from late 60's to mid 70's.
But from mid 70's, he declined in music creativity, (and so is the case of many legendary musicians) although he was full of energy until his demise.
The 80's severely injured music, the 90's tried something to relieve it, but the 2000's killed it. Still hope for 2020 !
