There are many ways to kill weeds. Microwaves aren't new. They are rather expensive when oil is pushing $100 dollars a barrel. I interviewed a couple of inventors (Dr.s Wayland, Davis, & Merkle) in 1972. They were looking for someone to take their machine to the Rio Grande Valley to do custom preplant soil sterilization to prove their product to the farmer. There was no doubt it would have worked, but there was no assurance someone new to the area would be able to buy 500 to 600 gallons of diesel fuel a day it took to run the generator to generate the 960 MHz the surplus magnetron they used required. The Arab oil embargo created a fuel situation more difficult than the one we have today. Had they been able to get/afford a more efficient 2 GHz + magnetron, it might have been possible.
Herbicides aren't all evil. They can be applied directly to the weed at rates orders of magnitude lower than a broadcast application, with no herbicide touching the ground or any place but a small fraction of the leaf surface of the weed. I have personally done this on Johnson Grass, Silver leaf night Shade, and bindweed by hand and later built the prototype for the GreenSeeker at Oklahoma State that also reduced the rate of top-dressed nitrogen on Winter Wheat by 50% with no reduction in yield. The original project reduced the rate of broadcast Round-Up by 50% on Bindweed. That was abandoned when we discovered how much it reduced nitrogen rates. We didn't have the fine granularity to reduce the rates of Round Up pay as well as fertilizer.
I see that thing more on a personal electric thermal herbicide alike hardware, the only problem the time to kill one single plant which seems here only a robot can use the patience needed
We overcame this issue with some of our newer generation microwave tech. However, the robot is autonomous, so it can spend hours radiating weeds. We did invent a hand-held microwave "weed-zapper" for smaller-scale farming. Check out that video.

What is the price for the robot?
This means robots will kill one more industry, why buy service than you can buy robot,lawn service had only weeding, now it also lost this part. Means you can buy robot and it will take care of your lawn a lifetime
did I miss something? I did not see on this promo video the robot to destroy or kill the weed. Most parts of this video just copied from internet... Why? Looks like machine just sniffing the weed....
