I’d love a post office minigame! Maybe you have to mail letters to villagers and sort mail and empty mailboxes or you have to write certain letters in a way and you get post office rewards, like a postman outfit and bag or a post office model or the pelicans picture frames!
I really miss seeing Pete traveling around my town every 5PM. It was such a cute little detail, and I always made sure to talk to him whenever I saw him while he was out making deliveries, even if you didn’t get any stuff to him.
Watching this video really makes me realize how empty NH can be. Everyday, I wake up, launch the game, check my roses, the Sisters, the Nook Shop and then see who's the special visitor on the island. And after more than a year, it's tiring to always see the... What, 5-6 same faces? That and the fact that we don't have so many of the themed furnitures from previous games. It's so disappointing.
For me it's also the fact that villager dialogue gets repetitive very fast. I mean in old games you also went about meeting the same faces everyday but having no special visitors all the time was no big deal! Because the villagers had interesting and engaging dialogues. Also, with some of my islanders, I talk to them one time (sometimes they even approach me first) and when I talk to them a second time they already act like I annoy the hell out of them.
Honestly I’m just going to buy new leaf again (I sold my 3ds and all my games when I needed money a few years ago but have a job now and bought a 3ds to play pokemon lol) and have that as my animal crossing fix. New Horizons is so disappointing
*Just to expand upon this list:* Phineas was replaced by the Nook Miles system and Redd during the Fireworks show Shrunk was replaced by villagers teaching us reactions instead of him. Copper and Booker are gone in favor of the Recycle Bin in RS and the Dodos now protect our islands. Gracie has had half of her role taken up by Label. Chip, Nat, and Joan were replaced by CJ, Flick, and Daisy Mae of course. Blanca for April Fools day is gone for laziness for the whoopee cushion in Nook Shopping. Kapp'n and his boat rides may have been taken up by the Dodos flying us to islands. And finally as a little bonus, Tortimer is also gone and presumed dead. 😂
I think that if the pelicans came back their desk could be on the opposite side of the airport where there you could send your mail instead of their being a building because a lot of people don't have room on their islands for another building.
You forgot Dr. Shrunk. He used to tell jokes and teach you reactions, but now the villagers give you your first set of reactions, while as of now, the other reactions are buyable features from the terminal and Nook's Cranny (or simply given to you by an NPC and villager as with the Halloween one.) There is still a chance he could return since we still have many empty slots left for reactions, and some have been datamined including the Shrunk Funk Shuffle, but sadly I have a feeling they're more likely just gonna continue to take the "buyable reactions" route. If the Resetti model can return without Resetti, I can see the Shrunk Funk Shuffle returning in a set of buyable reactions/dance moves instead of Dr. Shrunk teaching you it, which is a shame because he's one of my most missed NPCs from when I played New Leaf.
@@TheDeformedEevee Dr. Shrunk and Katrina are the two missing character I've wanted the most (aside from Kapp'n and Tortimer with all the Tortimer Island stuff) because they're the two of the most therapeutic characters in AC. I'm glad Katrina at least got to return in the app with motivational speeches even though I'm disappointed that she still isn't in the game. With Dr. Shrunk, one thing I can at least say is that he has a couple of references in the game. One being an Easter egg where you can customize the autograph cards to "Comedian's Signature" which has a little caricature of him, and the other being some dialogue with normal villagers where they mention his book "Dr. Shrunk Explains it All."
This video made me sad. As you said, I get the streamlining but they totally forgot how special these characters made coming "home" to the games. Especially the Pelicans. I still feel bad when I play NL and Pete shows up to tell me one of my other player's mailboxes is bursting again lol NH is poorer for their absence.
Mr Resetti would be awesome as a time travel deterrent! Imagine you travel forward or backwards in time to accomplish fuck-all what ever, only to be received by Resetti scolding you and ultimately warning you not to do it again or you lose your save file! That would be AWESOME!
Idea: Once you buy 10,000 bells worth of shoes or bags from Kicks the next day when you walk into the Able Sisters Mable and Kicks would be talking then after Mable tells you that they would be upgrading the shop, and it would make the shop bigger with a room for shoes, socks, and bags, and Kicks would be in that room.
It would be amazing if Katrina got a crystal or witchy furniture collection I remember new leaf had different crystals it'd be cool if they brought them back and allowed us to do some DIYs like the gold nuggets

I feel like having them or their shops on the island should at least be optional, like ik its redundant but it would be nice to have more stores or buildings to put on the island. I always wanted a shopping district and its very hard to do with only 2 stores. Having more optional stores and buildings would be great for those who want them and can just be ignored by everyone else
The most concerning thing is that there was no reason to remove these characters. Making the next installment without characters that have been there since the beginning is just so confusing. Why would Nintendo make that decision in the first place? It's like whoever up top is making these development decisions has no idea what animal crossing is about- and anything they add at this point would be trying to make fixes based upon customer feedback. I used to be able to trust Nintendo to make good game decisions, but this feels all wrong. It goes beyond not getting what we wanted, it ventures into "who the heck decided it was going to be this way, and why?"
I just want Pelicans to come back.. I miss the actual joy of going to pelly to send off my post, it felt really enjoyable and I posted everyday, now i don't touch it.
Gotta say, between videos like this and the lack of new updates, maybe New Leaf will still remain as my favorite animal crossing game. I thought new horizons would be, but more thought was definitely put into new leaf I feel
I do remembr reading somewhere months ago, that apparently the reason Resetti doesn't have the job he had in previous games is because (according to the canon of the animal crossing world) he was fired from his job after the last game but then hired by the helecopter services before new horizones "started"
People have said this before but Harriet could definitely make a return. She could do extra hair styles or sell wigs, she could be a beautician and do loads of make up options, she could do mii masks again, maybe you get to be her model and she gives you hair and accessory rewards, like Label? Lots of options
Some suggestions for new jobs for past characters: Rover: once a month he visits and sells a 'Secret Treasure Map' that you can take to the airport like a nook ticket, it takes you to a maze island. Basically expanding his role beyond just Mayday Gracey: She drops by every so often to give new Jewel recipes (along with rocks once again giving out rubies/sapphires/emeralds along with gold nuggets.) that can be crafted into furniture/clothing
I personally believe that just being able to select what you look like without taking a quiz and either having to look up the answers to get what you want or just cross your fingers is a far superior option. How you look in the game is extremely important, you are staring at your character for possibly hundreds of hours, so anything that lets you easily control what your character actually looks like is a vast improvement in my opinion.
What if for the way they did reece and cyrus they did these characters? Give them a furniture theme and have them show up to make requests at harvs island. The retail alpacas(accidentally said llamas my bad) had nothing to do with wedding season before so why not create a new theme for each character set? Maybe phyllis, pelly, and Pete have been vacationing and want some vacation style photos, which could bring in new items like swimsuits swim trunks and beach items(just a random suggestion), Wendell could show up requesting an art studio and feature some art items or maybe food items. Katrina could appear and ask for some zodiac photos or maybe an advertisement photo for her shop and she could provide the spooky furniture items like the crystal ball with notes that when you tap them read a fortune. Harriet could do a modeling project and provide some salon furniture some of the floor lights something for ms nintendique magazine(if you played the first few games you'd know is a thing in game). Resetti could do some family photos I'd love to see him with all his little brother sisters maybe his mom and dad or wife and kids argue arguing over what type of shoot they're doing maybe they can bring some construction items to make the photo appear more like the tunnels. Just a thought
As someone who never played any of the other AC games, it makes me sad that I don’t get to meet and interact with these other characters since I don’t have the older systems or games to play. ACNH might be the newest game but there are still people who AC is new to them and taking away beloved characters feels like being cheated from some of the experiences.
I really hope eventually Brewster will be introduced with a purpose, like if you buy his coffee or help serve in his coffee stall in a mini game, then you get a neat different furniture item or DIY recipe every time he visits...
In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Katrina(I think that’s how you spell her name lol) actually has her own Special Furniture, in which she runs a little fortune telling stand! Unfortunately, Special Furniture isn’t always available due to different crafting periods, but she’s still kinda around, so that’s good at least :D
I think with Harriet, it could work so that in the mirror you can only change your hairstyle if it’s a hair style of the same length as your current hair. If you want it shorter, longer, or a different colour, you need to go to Harriet. And I think eye colour you could do from the mirror too cause it’s essentially putting a coloured contact in. Or maybe you can only do the first few eye colours you get at the mirrors but the other colours that you unlock later would be done by Harriet.
As someone who has only played NH, I don’t personally have a relationship with the replaced characters. I have seen some videos about Mr Resetti, and NH has one “area” where you CAN reset, and that’s when playing online. Like you can DC on purpose and by that reset the game to the previous (auto)save. Sadly it ruins the fun for everyone. After seeing these mr Resetti videos, I found myself thinking: Nintendo should make him yell at players WHO PURPOSELY DISCONNECTS and ruins the game for everyone.
It should also be noted that if someone DCs while in a loading screen, for everyone else, Resetti does appear in the bottom right corner of a full screen error message that pops up before everyone is sent home and the game resets to the previous autosave.
My dream is to have a city we can go visit by plane or boat. It would solve the problem of people not being able to fit additional buildings on their island. Remember when we could visit the city on the Wii? It was fun.
I think it would be cool if Harriet came back with her own store and have unlockable hairstyles, colours, contacts and maybe make up? And maybe a DIY wig part? For like two toned hair and things
I think potentially Harriet could come back since there's a ton of hairstyles missing from new horizons that were in new leaf. A lot more than you might realize. Or maybe she could be used to give you crazier hairstyles and color options? I hope they bring her back but I'm also not banking on it ..
I really miss the guard dogs (don't know their english names in german they are called Wuff and Harry). Especially them telling me what is going on in the town. That was kind of replaced by Isabelle who tells you NOTHING (but if there is someone at the camp side). Having someone who actually knows what is going on on the island would be a major improvement! (And I rarely do postcards in this game whereas I used to write a lot of letters. It's just not that fun any more. And harder to remember the possibility when before you could just write a letter whenever you wanted to.)
They could have a separate island, accessible via the airport, where you could get shops with many npcs. This way there would be no need to sacrifice an easthetic to fit them, and there could be as many as nintendo want to fit in there, and updatable too
Great video as always, I pretty much have a feeling of why Nintendo is keeping the deconfirmed ACNH characters confidential as much as possible, let alone not giving us... oh wait, the dev team are focused right now on Splatoon 3's RTX stuff and I supposed it will be the selling point once they launch the game.

There's a lot of pain in seeing this video. I REALLY hope that in future games, the Able Sisters don't get replaced. That seems like it would be convenient but super depressing, so at least nintendo has stuck it out for those characters after all these years.
I personly always had a smal grudge against that pudle girl. I mean, she literally scams us out of our money becouse we don't get to see what she is doing to our hair untill she is done, and than we have to wait a howl day to fix her screwing up! Well, unless you used out-of-game features like the "answer-list" for the hair questions or safing just before entering her shop so you could reset the game. It was just really anoying to change your looks in AC new leaf
I'm honestly surprised and glad that the Able sisters weren't replaced by the wardrobe item. It's my favourite shop in the game and they probably wouldn't be some of my favourite characters if it wasn't for New Horizons
In the next update there will be a update to the Tailor shop and The airport. Tailor shop will get in the second room for label and more dialogue will be added. The airport will get to new shops/stands One will be unlocked by going to a new island and one will show up after the update, the shops are currently unknown. 20 new Lines of dialogue will be added to Isabell and all Villages. Brewster could also be a knew reward like KK slider.
As someone who played New Leaf, Wild World, and the GameCube version before New Horizons, I still feel the changes for convenience outweigh the loss of these characters for the most part. I personally despise Resetti for the few times he yelled at me cause my system lost power. And I feel like if someone wants to do things like reset or time travel, that's their choice and the game doesn't need to scold them for it. The removal of any kind of questionnaire to determine your appearance is a major improvement. I didn't like having to go online just to make sure my character didn't get stuck with a face or haircut I hated. Katrina was probably removed because they removed the luck mechanic, so the main purpose of her fortunes is gone. From a game design perspective, I completely understand not putting Wendell in the dream worlds when the custom design portal is already in the game. No need to have a character there solely to be the custom design portal only in dream worlds. The post office is the one I can understand missing the most. There is still mail in the game, so there has to be someone delivering it. They could have included at least Pete somewhere to explain how the mail gets to your box. It still could be nice if they could find new ways to include these characters for the fans that miss them, though (But I'm still glad I don't have to see Resetti).
What I'm hoping for Harriet is that she not only sells wigs but also does makeup and hair. So you can get more colors/styles exclusive to her shop. Maybe more body paints and contact colors. :)
I miss the pelicans, I do not miss Resetti!! There was no option for power outages which happened a niumber of times. I thought I was seeing things when my skin color got darker, but I was not which caused me to restart the game entirely! I wonder if that happened to anyone else.
If Harv had a crush on Harriet, I think we could make it to where she and Harvey live together on his island. We can go to Harvey's island for photoshoots and Harriet's hairstyles that can only be gotten from her. I kind of wish they can make it into a wedding event in June and it would make Harvey's island so much more than just a place to take photos. It works out.
As a new player to the Animal Crossing franchise I would be annoyed by having to chase down a Walrus or go out of my way to visit a Poodle, just to change my look. I love having the designer app on my Nook phone and being able to have a mirror right next to a place to change my close. I do think having Pelicans to send postcards would have been kind of cool and I might do it more often as I sometimes forget you have to do that from the airport. I could see why people who have been with the franchise from the start would miss characters though. I think at the very least they should have them pop up now and then like the other NPC's just for a chat. :)
Like probably most AC fans, I would like all of them to return, and I'm sure there are ways for them to do that, but Nintendo has to decide to do that, and I'm not sure they will.
I miss all the others but not Harriet. I like changing my hair and eyes any time I want without paying. I especially miss the post office, though, and the Pelicans. I just don’t use the postcards that much. It really lacks personality.
I wish we could buy stationary like in City Folk/Let's Go To The City. I send a lot of gifts to other players and every time it's a dismal experience. Overall I love NH, but they should have kept the old characters and expanded with new ones. What was the purpose of replacing Joan with a snot nose kid (literally)? Oh well, can't win all the time.

Because New Horizons is my first Animal Crossing game I feel I see the latest installment of New Horizons differently as the past features or characters that are missing in New Horizons has no effect on how I feel about this game. I love it dearly.

As someone who never played any of the other AC games, it makes me sad that I don’t get to meet and interact with these other characters since I don’t have the older systems or games to play. ACNH might be the newest game but there are still people who AC is new to them and taking away beloved characters feels like being cheated from some of the experiences.
I really hope eventually Brewster will be introduced with a purpose, like if you buy his coffee or help serve in his coffee stall in a mini game, then you get a neat different furniture item or DIY recipe every time he visits...
In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Katrina(I think that’s how you spell her name lol) actually has her own Special Furniture, in which she runs a little fortune telling stand!
Unfortunately, Special Furniture isn’t always available due to different crafting periods, but she’s still kinda around, so that’s good at least :D

I think with Harriet, it could work so that in the mirror you can only change your hairstyle if it’s a hair style of the same length as your current hair. If you want it shorter, longer, or a different colour, you need to go to Harriet. And I think eye colour you could do from the mirror too cause it’s essentially putting a coloured contact in. Or maybe you can only do the first few eye colours you get at the mirrors but the other colours that you unlock later would be done by Harriet.

As someone who has only played NH, I don’t personally have a relationship with the replaced characters.
I have seen some videos about Mr Resetti, and NH has one “area” where you CAN reset, and that’s when playing online. Like you can DC on purpose and by that reset the game to the previous (auto)save. Sadly it ruins the fun for everyone.
After seeing these mr Resetti videos, I found myself thinking: Nintendo should make him yell at players WHO PURPOSELY DISCONNECTS and ruins the game for everyone.
OR they could make autosave an option and bring him back for when the players disables the autosave feature, though that would be unlikely.
It should also be noted that if someone DCs while in a loading screen, for everyone else, Resetti does appear in the bottom right corner of a full screen error message that pops up before everyone is sent home and the game resets to the previous autosave.
My dream is to have a city we can go visit by plane or boat. It would solve the problem of people not being able to fit additional buildings on their island. Remember when we could visit the city on the Wii? It was fun.
I know this is like way late but it's confirmed that it's Reseti if you don't have enough miles.

I think it would be cool if Harriet came back with her own store and have unlockable hairstyles, colours, contacts and maybe make up? And maybe a DIY wig part? For like two toned hair and things
I think potentially Harriet could come back since there's a ton of hairstyles missing from new horizons that were in new leaf. A lot more than you might realize. Or maybe she could be used to give you crazier hairstyles and color options? I hope they bring her back but I'm also not banking on it ..
I really miss the guard dogs (don't know their english names in german they are called Wuff and Harry). Especially them telling me what is going on in the town. That was kind of replaced by Isabelle who tells you NOTHING (but if there is someone at the camp side). Having someone who actually knows what is going on on the island would be a major improvement!
(And I rarely do postcards in this game whereas I used to write a lot of letters. It's just not that fun any more. And harder to remember the possibility when before you could just write a letter whenever you wanted to.)
What if Harriet could give you split hair colours
They could have a separate island, accessible via the airport, where you could get shops with many npcs. This way there would be no need to sacrifice an easthetic to fit them, and there could be as many as nintendo want to fit in there, and updatable too
Great video as always, I pretty much have a feeling of why Nintendo is keeping the deconfirmed ACNH characters confidential as much as possible, let alone not giving us... oh wait, the dev team are focused right now on Splatoon 3's RTX stuff and I supposed it will be the selling point once they launch the game.

There's a lot of pain in seeing this video. I REALLY hope that in future games, the Able Sisters don't get replaced. That seems like it would be convenient but super depressing, so at least nintendo has stuck it out for those characters after all these years.
I personly always had a smal grudge against that pudle girl. I mean, she literally scams us out of our money becouse we don't get to see what she is doing to our hair untill she is done, and than we have to wait a howl day to fix her screwing up! Well, unless you used out-of-game features like the "answer-list" for the hair questions or safing just before entering her shop so you could reset the game.

I'm honestly surprised and glad that the Able sisters weren't replaced by the wardrobe item. It's my favourite shop in the game and they probably wouldn't be some of my favourite characters if it wasn't for New Horizons

In the next update there will be a update to the Tailor shop and The airport. Tailor shop will get in the second room for label and more dialogue will be added. The airport will get to new shops/stands One will be unlocked by going to a new island and one will show up after the update, the shops are currently unknown. 20 new Lines of dialogue will be added to Isabell and all Villages. Brewster could also be a knew reward like KK slider.

As someone who played New Leaf, Wild World, and the GameCube version before New Horizons, I still feel the changes for convenience outweigh the loss of these characters for the most part.
I personally despise Resetti for the few times he yelled at me cause my system lost power. And I feel like if someone wants to do things like reset or time travel, that's their choice and the game doesn't need to scold them for it.
The removal of any kind of questionnaire to determine your appearance is a major improvement. I didn't like having to go online just to make sure my character didn't get stuck with a face or haircut I hated.
Katrina was probably removed because they removed the luck mechanic, so the main purpose of her fortunes is gone.
From a game design perspective, I completely understand not putting Wendell in the dream worlds when the custom design portal is already in the game. No need to have a character there solely to be the custom design portal only in dream worlds.
The post office is the one I can understand missing the most. There is still mail in the game, so there has to be someone delivering it. They could have included at least Pete somewhere to explain how the mail gets to your box.
It still could be nice if they could find new ways to include these characters for the fans that miss them, though (But I'm still glad I don't have to see Resetti).
What I'm hoping for Harriet is that she not only sells wigs but also does makeup and hair. So you can get more colors/styles exclusive to her shop. Maybe more body paints and contact colors. :)
I miss the pelicans, I do not miss Resetti!! There was no option for power outages which happened a niumber of times. I thought I was seeing things when my skin color got darker, but I was not which caused me to restart the game entirely! I wonder if that happened to anyone else.

If Harv had a crush on Harriet, I think we could make it to where she and Harvey live together on his island. We can go to Harvey's island for photoshoots and Harriet's hairstyles that can only be gotten from her. I kind of wish they can make it into a wedding event in June and it would make Harvey's island so much more than just a place to take photos. It works out.
As a new player to the Animal Crossing franchise I would be annoyed by having to chase down a Walrus or go out of my way to visit a Poodle, just to change my look. I love having the designer app on my Nook phone and being able to have a mirror right next to a place to change my close. I do think having Pelicans to send postcards would have been kind of cool and I might do it more often as I sometimes forget you have to do that from the airport. I could see why people who have been with the franchise from the start would miss characters though. I think at the very least they should have them pop up now and then like the other NPC's just for a chat. :)

Like probably most AC fans, I would like all of them to return, and I'm sure there are ways for them to do that, but Nintendo has to decide to do that, and I'm not sure they will.

I wish we could buy stationary like in City Folk/Let's Go To The City. I send a lot of gifts to other players and every time it's a dismal experience. Overall I love NH, but they should have kept the old characters and expanded with new ones. What was the purpose of replacing Joan with a snot nose kid (literally)? Oh well, can't win all the time.
Does art reflect life or does life reflect art? Every year we hear more about how our jobs will be replaced by machines and it seems its no different in Animal Crossing XD
Because New Horizons is my first Animal Crossing game I feel I see the latest installment of New Horizons differently as the past features or characters that are missing in New Horizons has no effect on how I feel about this game. I love it dearly.
