As a novice cigar smoker I find Mazzos videos to be invaluable
Thank you for keeping it simple and informative, as a beginner it gives me the confidence to choose the right cigars and begin enjoying them.
Glad it was helpful! Stay tuned to our channel and you'll go from beginner to seasoned vet in no time 😉
I started with the strongest, most full flavored cigars I could find. I still enjoy them, but I am really falling in love with these mild cigars and that whole flavor profile.
What's up fellow Celtic Viking. I think mild cigars are a lot better than people give them credit for. I still love full body cigars as well, but it's been nice going back to mild's here and there for the past couple years.
I’ve smoked all of these… and imo BY FAR the Ashton Classic is the best!!! I will forever an always go back to the Ashton Classic!!!
Love that Perdomo Champagne 10 year with a nice sip of Uncle Nearest 1844 Small batch. Thank you again for some great insight! Salute!
I bumped into one of your videos today. And now I am a huge fan. Keep up the good work, Sir!
I love the Camacho Connecticut and the Macanudo Inspirado White
I like the Espinosa Creme. It was the first cigar I tried and I really like the mild flavor. And while I am currently trying to expand my pallet, I think mild cigars may always be my go to.
I’m a new smoker and have only smoked mild cigars. Love the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real. Actually looking to get into something a little more full bodied than what I’ve been smoking. Love the videos as always!
Try a San Cristobal Elegancia or a Perdomo Habano Connecticut for the next leg up in terms of a slightly fuller body. If you want a bigger kick and want another suggestion for the next step from those, let us know!
If you’re looking for a tiny step up from mild, then I recommend sticking w Conn shade or Cameroon wrappers & going to med strength. My top suggestions (no order):
- Cohiba Connecticut (pricey, but if you can find a good deal, amazing flavor)
- D.E. Undercrown Shade (simply outstanding)
- Oliva Serie G (best Cameroon on the market)
- A Fuente Hemingway
I’m really learning a lot from these videos, thanks so much!
I learn something new every time I watch your videos. I can’t get enough of cigar knowledge.
Best cigars culture on you tube. Keep it up.
Pretty new cigar smoker your reviews and recommendations have been spot on. At the lounge now enjoying a Perdomo champagne series you mentioned and really enjoying it thank you for sharing your knowledge it’s much appreciated
Great episode with an important message… I was getting to the point of only smoking full bodied cigars… after revisiting Connecticuts with a nice cup of coffee, they are now a regular part of my rotation. Top notch content as always!
I had the Elegancia and just loved it. Might be my favorite. Was a little scared to go to Nicaraguan but was very impressed.
Absolutely right on Mazz. I smoke mild cigars because I can actually taste the full flavor of the cigar more easily. Its not overwhelming.
Enjoying the Oliva Connecticut right now. It is great! I find that if I smoke them all (mild, medium, strong) I am able taste all the notes of each better. If I only smoke one type or the other for too long they all end up tasting like just like smoke, nothing more. Now I am a relatively new cigar smoker. Only smoking them for 2 years now. So I know I still have a lot to learn. And ENJOY! I appreciate your videos. Thank you.
It's always good to keep your palate guessing and developing by trying different blends. Happy to hear your journey is going well and we're glad to be a part of it! Thanks for watching.
Can’t decide which one to try this weekend.. thank you so much can’t wait!
I have 4 of these suggestions on my humidor. 2 of the 4 I've had before. The Oliva is in my top 3 list for all cigars I've tried.
Ive been smoking the more full bodied cigars for years now. I've only recently begun revisiting mild to medium cigars and boy was I wrong for ignoring them. I love the Ashton Classics as well as the Davidoff, AVO Classic no3, and the Royal Salute from AF
Glad to hear 👏 Mild cigars are definitely worth your attention. Thanks for sharing!
Need me one of the Ashton’s, the way you talk about it makes me want to try it. I’m new to cigars and only had a few different ones, but I want to get your beginners pack.
@@holtscigarsstaying within the Ashton family… what would be the next two incrementally stronger cigars after the classic?
Love your channel and approach… classy/informative 😊👍
I’ve always loved cigars! Some of the best cigars I’ve ever had have been mild ones
I have tried most of these favorite's. Any time I have ventured outside the mild realm, I'm disappointed and always head back into the mild spectrum. I guess some of us just enjoy mild cigars.
Absolutely! Taste is personal for everyone, and it seems you've found your wheelhouse. Thanks for sharing!
If it makes you feel better-
I’ve smoked cigars ranked in the upper-90s. Did not enjoy them, despite really appreciating all they offered and their quality.
What I’ve learned (more than once) is that when people say your own preference is what rules the day, they’re right. Of course you need exposure to the spectrum of flavors so you understand those preferences, but don’t buy something that you ultimately won’t enjoy smoking. Stick with what works, dabble-out from time to time, but stand behind what makes you happy. There’s a reason so many have been sold.
I’ve had the Chateau Fuente and the Perdomo Champagne and they’re full of flavor. Look forward to trying the Ashton Classic.
Just picked up the Connecticut Cream sampler pack at the Townsend Road store yesterday. Great location with very helpful staff, wish I had time to enjoy a smoke in the lounge! Looking forward to trying a lot of the sticks you mention in this video that are in the sampler. Thanks for the informative videos.
My all time favorite is Monte Cristos , mainly the memories, and number 4
I like to keep a diverse selection in my Humidor. Mild though to strong and a range of vitolas to choose from depending upon the time I have..
Great review Mazz...
I’ve had both mild and strong cigars, and honestly I prefer the mild. I like the flavor better and it makes for a better smoke.
Don Diego/ Macanudo/ Nat Sherman Host was my start into cigars...perfect starters . Now it's medium/mild blend...Gispert and San Cristabol Elegancia to just name a few.
I have smoked most of the cigars you mentioned and your assessment is spot on. What are your thoughts on mild cigars with a Cameroon wrapper?
Great job Anthony.
I love mild cigars honestly…I’m just a fan of cigars period point blank lol
Does Mazz speak faster in the morning? 😂
I have to recommend the Henry Clay Warhawk, its a fantastic mild cigar imo.
Hey Mazz! Love your videos. Although I rarely smoke cigars, I've smoked Ashton VSG's, La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amore's, Cuban Cohiba's, and the Ashton you have featured here. I have to say I don't know enough to really comment on what the issue might be, but I need your take on something:
It seems when I am smoking a stick like the one here, it makes me sick ( gives me a headache and makes me Nauseous). However, when I smoke a "stronger" cigar like a VSG or Mi Amor, I love it and have no issues. Do I have an allergy to a certain kind of tobacco, or am I crazy?
To me, the spicy/pepper notes of this cigar don't sit well with me. It reminds me of chewing tobacco, like levi garret. On the flip side, if a cigar has more leather, chocolate, and coffee notes, I'm fine e.g., Mi amor, quintessence, etc.,
Any thoughts here, I feel like maybe I'm sensitive to a certain kind of wrapper like Connecticut isn't my jam, and ebano and summatra I'm ok with? Have you ever heard of certain tobaccos making one sick as opposed to others.
Thanks for any input.
Justin
Hey Justin! It's not impossible for certain blends to hit you differently, even if it may be a milder cigar than you've smoked before. What's important to keep in mind is to have something to eat beforehand, and have something sugary on hand in case a cigar starts to get away from you. Smoking a milder cigar on an empty stomach can make you sick opposed to smoking a strong cigar on a full stomach. Another thing to keep in mind is that not every cigar is for every enthusiast. Taste is personal and that's perfectly fine.
I like the Foundation Highclere Castle Connecticut. Fairly mild.
One of my favorite muld cigars is the rodriguez reserva privada, they age them 4 years and i forgot i had some i bougbt at the factory in key west in 19, what a stick
Wonderful video. For new and experienced cigars smokers, the beginning is awesome advise. I keep a fairly wide range of cigars in the humidor(s). From mild to full. Each has it's own characteristics and nuances. This all helps to develop your palate and all sorts of enjoyment. I generally smoke medium to full bodied cigars, and mix in milder ones regularly.
Hey Mazz. I tried a Montecristo no.4 last night and did not enjoy it. Far too much spice and very rough tasting. Are the others you recommended much the same in taste?
Can you do a video on the structure and what parts of the tobacco plant are used and how each leave is used etc please
I agree completely. I think there is this "macho" thing about "bold or strong" cigars. Some of these "aficionados" think if it doesn't leave your mouth tasting like you chewed on some burned wire insulation or a smelted cat turd, you're not a man. Its just dumb. In fact I don't think that's what the old school tobacco growers ever wanted. I've spent a lot of money on bold or moderate cigars without finding ANY I like, I have come to the final conclusion that I absolutely love and prefer mild cigars and that is just fine. The only way I'll try one now is if a friend gives me one.
Absolutely, if you found your wheelhouse it doesn't hurt to stick to it 😎 Smoke what you like!
I smoked mild cigars for the first few months, and found them plenty strong enough. Now, I literally can't even taste them.
Some of my favorite mild cigars are the Perdomo Fresco, La Unica 400, EP Carillo New Wave Connecticut, and my most recent new favorite the Montesino Gran Corona Connecticut.
All have very similar flavor profiles, but with their own personalities. Highly reccommend to anyone looking for a great value mild strength cigar.
Montecristo white label is also a great mild creamy stick
I'm just getting started in the cigar world at 36. My first one was the other day an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Short. Are most of these comparable to that.
Welcome! The Fuente Hemingway is medium-bodied and has a little more strength than these. We have a review on the Hemingway you can check out as well: ua-cam.com/video/a2NlAt4OW8Q/v-deo.html
Can you recommend a mild that offers a sweet foot smoke? I love to smell the foot smoke when it’s sweet and nutty! It is so intoxicating!!!
Can you recommend a mild cigar that has a sweet nutty foot smoke. I love nasal aromas. Not referring to retrohaling.
I’m the same way. There is a certain smell that I’m trying to find.. I get it with the Romeo y Juliet reserva the Ashton classic and that Perdomo 10th anniversary… I just started smoking cigars so im as green as it gets! I love that certain smell though…
Mild cigars are like smoking a pipe. They give you space for thought and contemplation without asking for much attention in return.
Smoked a La Aroma de Cuba and was a big fan.
The oliva Connecticut is very similar to the Gilberto oliva reserva blanc both excellent cigars
I really like the montecristo white label even more than the original when Im looking for a mild smoke.
Oscar leaf Connecticut is up there for mid day cigar/medium.
Loving your videos
Forgot the Diamond crown!!
Thank you for this
What you think about the cigar dojo sobremesa ??
Excellent video sir. Now do a medium and full bodied cigars please.
P. S I love chocolate flavours in my cigars. What are first ones that come to mind when chocolate notes is mentioned?
Thanks.
We'll definitely look at making videos for medium and full in the near future!
Cigars that come to mind with chocolate notes would be Ashton Aged Maduro, Padron 1964 Maduro, and La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor.
What lighter did you use to light the Montecristo?
That's a Xikar Xidris, we talk about it more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Xd5AVEj2Vyw/v-deo.html
Is Puros Aliados (not to be confused with Cuba Aliados) mild or medium?
I’ve been stuck on the montecristo classic series for a while now. Tried the San cristobal on my cruise. I think the flavor changed drastically half way through the cigar. I was I tripping?
Get together with the Sahakians please
hello, can you do one thing in your videos, can you show a close up of the name of the cigar, so i can write them down, your the expert , im just beginning
I personally did not like the San Cristobal Elegancia. It wasn't a bad cigar but I enjoyed the 20 Acre Farm by Drew Estate better. That should be on the list.
Im new to the cigar world i saw online that mild cigar have low nicotine to non detectable amounts is that truee? And which is the best mild cigar with low nicotine to start with
Typically, mild cigars will have lower nicotine strength. Any of these would be a great choice for a beginner!
Can you do one or two episodes on paring with red wine and grappa. I am a pizzon and like my grappa and no one talks about it.
We just released a video on pairing wine and cigars! ua-cam.com/video/7jiOd1q2bzQ/v-deo.html
You should make a video of cigars to smoke to celebrate after the Phillies win the World Series
So Ashton classics, it's just a Ashton cigar correct? It doesn't actually say classic in the name? I'm asking becuase I called a local shop and they have Ashton cigars but nothing classic in it
what is the name of colonel klinks cigar he had the long green cigars????thin type????
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, as a new cigar smoker (about a year and a half)...but I dont get all the "notes" you keep making reference to....or maybe I just do realize it yet
Enjoyment is always the #1 priority, don't overthink the flavors too much. Sooner or later they will stick out to you!
king of mild cigars is macanudo the 1968 rubosto
Perdomo was a great selection.
Romeo y Juliet Connecticut
Aj Fernandez New World Connecticut
Brick House Double Connecticut robusto, all my mellow needs in one tidy, tasty little package.
Butera Royal Vintage
wat is the name this cigar
What about the griffins perfecto ?
What about mild sweet something like blondie
no, 9 times out of 10 if they smoked a monte on the beach it was probably grass clippings and hair
Been smoking cigars for 10 years......I usually prefer milder cigars.
The Truth!!!
Best two cigars recommend that are not peppery in your opinion
From this list we'd recommend the Ashton Classic and Oliva Connecticut
I prefer mild cigars
@@holtscigars I am new to smoking cigars, maybe about the last 4 months or so, however my favourite so far, is the Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta. Its the cigar I've smoked the most so far, really lovely smooth cigar. Anything similar you would recommend to a fledgling cigar smoker ?
Ant!!!!!!!!
Mazz - Don Diegos?
💯💯✊🏽✊🏽💯💯
Nub Connecticut
It sucks
As an upcoming cigar smoker, I found your channel and enjoy the quality content. With the seasons changing, I often find that my tastes change as well. Something light in the Spring/Summer months and perhaps something of fuller body in the fall/winter months. This video is what I was looking for to find something mild to enjoy this summer.
