    Your swatches are beautiful! I have bought two sets by Michael Harding and his paints are beautiful. They have the richness of his oil paints, but in watercolour form. I have four of the colours you have shown, but having seen your swatches I will now buy Rose Madder and Lapis Lazuli separately. I don't worry too much about fugitive colours - UV glass solves that problem. Once again, thank you.

      That is incredibly kind, thank you! I first discovered Michael Harding through his oil paints and have always dreamed for his pigments to be offered in watercolor form. That day has come and each paint tube evokes a different moment or emotion. Uniquely different from one another. I have no words, just heart-eyed emojis! 😍😍😍
      Pigments with fugitive tendencies don't cause any concern on my end either. It's what we do with them that counts and as you've graciously mentioned, UV glass takes care of that. I have another Michael Harding video coming out in a few weeks. This time, it is the set that I've curated for myself. Thank you again for being here and for sharing your thoughts! 💖

    I usually don't like yellows but turner yellow looks so gorgeous! And for a moment forgot that the blue was a lapis lazuli and thought it was just an ultramarine because of how pigmented it is!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Рік тому +2

      I share the sentiment! This Turner's Yellow is fiercely different from what's normally available. And this Lapis Lazuli's pigment load is unmatched. It is reasonable to expect high-performance from Michael Harding, given his background and the price tag associated with these tubes, but wow, this experience is incredibly revelatory. Thank you again for being here. I appreciate your input, as always! 🥰

    Thanks for the swatching 😊. I’m surprised that they included PY216 and PY150; both pigments were not available in the 18th century. Obviously there was Gamboge and a Turner’s Yellow, but they were made of different pigments.

      Thank you for watching! I believe the goal is to take us back in time and enjoy these colors associated with the "old world" sans the toxicities of the original formulation of these two watercolors. I appreciate that Michael Harding kept NR9 although it is notoriously "fugitive" for some.

    • @awatercolourist
      @awatercolourist Рік тому +2

      @@stiviwonders I know what you mean! I would love to try NR9 and PR83 one day. I especially want to try the W&N NR9; it is such a rich colour. I don’t sell my artwork and I only paint in journals, so lightfastness is not an issue for me.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Рік тому +1

      @@awatercolourist How did you know that I am planning to feature NR9 paints soon? Haha! I'll share the video, perhaps in a few weeks. Lightfastness is crucial but how we enjoy the process is just as critical. There are also ways now on how to deal with fugitive colors.

    • @awatercolourist
      @awatercolourist Рік тому

      @@stiviwonders I didn’t! I was commenting on the part where you said that you appreciate that Michael Harding has NR9. I also appreciate that these old pigments aren’t gone; I think there is a lot of value in them.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Рік тому +4

      @@awatercolourist The last part is poignant and I am with you there 100%! I hope for these vintage pigments to be preserved for future generations so they could enjoy these colors too.
      I thought it would be great to swatch the two NR9s side by side, Michael Harding's and Winsor & Newton. That would be fun to see in action.
