This deserves far more reach than you currently have, thank you for being so elaborate on your arguments. Sound design Is mostly overlooked when it comes to videogames, but horror games really do make it or break it sometimes when it comes to their sound.
i don't like video game music, i always turn it off. it gets annoying really fast, it loops constantly, it starts playing inappropriate times. like, i don't wanna hear trumpets every time i start web swinging in spider man . and i don't wanna hear the music go off when nothing is happening on screen like in alien isolation or this annoying music every time i get chased by the cops in gta. they make a moment more stressful that it needs to be, and it's like it always wants you to feel a certain way. ooh now it's exploration so you should feel like this, now it's combat so you should feel like this, now it's spooky so you should feel like this...
alan wake 2 has infinitely respawning enemies, and that music stinger that plays before the encounters gets old very fast. if you turn the music off is scarier because you don't expect it

I am the exact opposite, no music: I feel nothing. The less music the game has the more nothing I feel, until I get bored
