    Thank you for the education. I read this in the Bible and that they would make sacrifice on the new moon. Initially I thought it to be odd that a celebration would take part in the complete darkness of a new moon and that a full moon would be more fitting. But of course it is Gods commandment, not a man made festival, it is more fitting to honour and gives thanks to the new birth of the moon. Even for practical purposes it would have been apt to gather together on such dark nights.
