I work as an autologous stem cell pre transplant coordinator. I’ve been privileged to meet incredible Multiple Myeloma and the grace strength and courage the families and patients show is motivating and inspiring. I’m in Baltimore and I see more African American patients who seem to be hardest hit. I do feel our institution is a very focused on providing care for all our patients. Sadly doctors don’t look at MM as a first diagnosis. We can do better! Sadly African-Americans don’t have the same access they have barriers such as transportation and caregiving issues. I’m speaking broadly of course…
Are you at UMD Baltimore? If so, y'all saved my mother's life. ❤ Sadly, she is ineligible for the transplant as she has a secondary cancer in addition to multiple myeloma.
