Thanks so much man! I practically never comment on a video but this deservers it. People are running random scripts from the web without even thinking about the potential consequences. Here is a perfect manual version of installation, super easy. Thanks again! Subscribed :)
You are so right about scripts I fell if you cant do the project with out using a script that you did not wright you should not do it. we do some times use scripts but they always come from big sources. Thank you for the comments.
This is my first time using Proxmox and you made this tutorial very simple to understand. Even though Proxmox and Home Assistant are three versions ahead the information was very easy to follow. Thank you!
Goated. Quick and clear instructions, and everything works perfectly. I had my install finished before other videos would of even fished their introduction. Thank you
Wow, thank you for the awesome feedback! I'm thrilled to hear that the quick and clear instructions worked perfectly for you-that's exactly what we aim for! Focusing on the project itself and making sure the steps are as efficient as possible is a big part of what this channel is all about. Your time is valuable, and we're here to get you straight to the point. Appreciate your support, and I hope you keep enjoying the content!
Still valid on 4/06. I had [WARN] Home Assistant CLI is not running! when installed via script. didn't know what went wrong. followed this instruction. very well put. I was able to follow even though my local lvm name was different (for some reason). Very thoroughly explained!
Thank you so much! This was an amazing tutorial that covered the steps of setting HAOS in Proxmox quite well - Coming from HomeBridge. Earned a sub from me!
Perfect, steps still work exactly as is at proxmox 8.2.7 and home assistant 24.10.1 Thank you for the very clear blow by blow steps, worked first time!
A quick note regarding your copying and pasting in the terminal: you can just begin typing the filename and then hit "tab" and it will autocomplete the filename - no copying and pasting necessary. Thanks for this tutorial, it worked without a hitch
Thanks! I've used scripts in the past but it appears that some of them are out of date/broken. I learned a few proxmox things along the way. Thank you again!
Thank you for the very clear walk-through of the installation process. The script-based instructions I have seen elsewhere don't reveal the underlying details. Your manual process makes this all very clear. Thanks again!
ok after adding the dns server details my proxmox was able to wget the file. love the video man short sweet and to the point, with all the needed details like if i have an ssd. thankg bro, ill be sure to watch all your vids
great video, I have the same setup passing through usb devices; zigbee stick, zwave stick, rtl, bluetooth, several ups for nut server and also a coral tpu for frigate running in another vm, works great no issues
Thoughts on when to use ext4 and when to use zfs when setting up Proxmox? I have Proxmox setup on a system with 16gbs of ram but zfs seems to eat up most of it and I'm not sure if it is worth having zfs becuase of it.
@@Barnez2006 Never ran zfs as a main file system mainly due to it's caching nature, will definitely expect some issues. I usually run lvm with ext4 for that. I was tempted to do so for replication but would probably use ceph instead
I played around with ZFS in the "early days" of the channel. I remember reading somewhere at that time that ZFS will eat 1/2 or your ram and really need no less then 8gb to work right.
Thank you for the excelent video & instructions! just one thing, as of 12/24 the command to import the disk seem to have changed: "qm disk import 100 haos_ova-14.1.qcow2 local-lvm" was the one I had to use with PVE ver 8.3.1.
Hi lovley guided i do get an error when trying to set the image to VM. got error : /root/haos_ova-13.2.gcow2: non-existent or non-regular file how to fix this have followed your guide from start to this point.
Hi, thanks for doing this video. I searched for quite a while on how to get the qcow image to boot. The trick I needed was to uncheck "Pre-Enroll keys:". Thanks again.
Had a quick question, when you imported the file local-lvm, i get an error storage 'local-lvm' does not exist, is there another video, i have to look at to set the local LVM ?
Thanks for the video. I'm getting high CPU ussage on this VM, around 75% when idle. This cpu is reported by proxmox, if I check it with the 'top' command inside the VM it reports less than 5%. Are you having this trouble?
I just tried this verbatim on a clean/new Proxmox install, fresh to a new PC. It fails on the qm importdisk 100 haos_ova-11.5.qcow2 with the following error: 400 not enough arguments qm disk import [OPTIONS] My guess is because you are not running Proxmox 8.1.4. Can you please update the video or add the details in the description of how to do this with Proxmox 8.1.4?
with out knowing the command that you are having the problem with it is really hard to help. you can try the updated video ua-cam.com/video/VYwTZd-JL5I/v-deo.html
@@virtualizeeverything Thank you very much! now it works... i had some trouble with the cpu config as host, but i take the default config for the cpu and this was the solution. Thank you
Very Nub question. Did you pre-create a VM? I'm on a fresh install of Proxmox (no VMs yet) and when I click on the shell I get " undefined (Code: 1006)

Top comment! Best method I've found. I installed on this on my proxmox cluster and it worked like a dream.
Literally the best resource I've found for installing HA. Everything else was trying to be so much more complicated than it needed to be.

You really are a lifesaver. This is the best and easiest guide so far. I'm really glad I found your vid after hours of searching.
You're welcome!
23 FEB 2024, workings great, thank you
This is gold. Everyone refers to proxmox scripts. But I actually would like to stay in control.
Thank you! I don't like using scripts that I did not make

Thanks a lot! very clear and correct information what i would recommed for everyone!

I've done exactly like this video but my setup stuck at the "Preparing Home Assistant" (like shown in 5:55) for more than 2 hours. how do i fix it?
worked so well i disabled my ad blocker to watch an ad for ya
Got it up and running, thanks :) I'm using one of those Topton n100 router pc's and wanted to find a better use for it.
Thank you for this. Completely flawless !

Thank you soooo much I have been fighting this for a week!
Thanks. I recommend it. I managed to run it exactly as in the presentation.
Thank you. After a few years my install completely broke and the helper scripts make it a nightmare to get Matter integration working.
Your welcome I don't like doing things from scripts
Clear and accurate info. Subscribed even before I checked other videos :)
great work! Thank you.
Thank you
Fantastic tutorial. Worked perfectly. Thank you!
Is there a simple way of expanding the 32gb disk size, And the Home assistant OS so it will use the expanded disk ?
thanks! very awesome video! still very useful

I try hard to make just that. in 2020 I was struggling with finding good ones. that is why i started this channel. have a great day

Had a quick question, when you imported the file local-lvm, i get an error storage 'local-lvm' does not exist, is there another video, i have to look at to set the local LVM ?
if you are using zfs it will be called local-zfs or if you look at the bottom of the drop-down for your server you will see you storage options
Thank you, love your stuff, easier for a new guy starting out, your Home Assistant video is very good @@virtualizeeverything
Yes it worked with local-zfs, got the Home Assistant home page.
Thank you again
@@virtualizeeverything great video. had the same issue that was also due to using zfs, and your comment worked. thanks. love the concise vids.

Muchas gracias.! De verdad que me funcionó aunque no sé hablar inglés, muy bien explicado.

I actually had to use the command: qm disk import 100 haos_ova-11.5.qcow2 local-lvm and NOT qm importdisk command. Maybe it has changed for 8.1.4?
yes you need to finish the command by telling proxmox where to place the image on most system that is local-lvm
Fantastic 😀
your welcome
thank you!
Excelente, funcionou perfeitamente.
omg thanks man
muito obrigado!!!! Salvou!
thanks!
worked as directed as at home assistant 12.4 as installed today 2024-06-23.
I have done all the steps stil the same but I don't know why I failed...

most of the time code 1006 is a web browser problem with web sockets.
@@virtualizeeverything Thank you, that was it exactly. I flipped over to Chrome and problem solved!
