I used the similar trick like 15-20 years ago, connected a tweeter parallel to the guitar amp speaker, and that was my sustain driver. Either sustainiac or the other sustainer brand had an acoustic sustainer model at the time, and that was my inspiration to try this. Of course their model doesn't connect directly to the amp, it has its own drive circuit, but not needed in my case.
